    I feel like Saw ends up kinda being a self-parody when written by the wrong writers. Here his paranoia is completely justified, as he realizes just how wide Luthen’s net is. But he’s still a competent leader and knows what has to be done

      That's part of the tragedy of Saw. He was traumatized by the death of his sister. Then shortly after her death he had to watch his former allies, Clones, betray him and everyone he cared about, and had to watch the Republic take his home from him. He had to run from everything, and spent 20 years fighting a guerilla campaign without anyone he could fully trust or care about. By the time of Rogue One he's pretty much insane, and trapped in his own delusions and pain.

    • @Marvolo14
      @Marvolo14 Год назад +50

      It's easy to see him as a parody, or be exasperated by his methods and paranoia, but having seen where he began and knowing how far he falls its just pitiful what became of him.

      i play this video game with teams. When we were about to be top 100 which makes us a substantial group, I realize people were stealing my players. I made a joke about it, and one of our best outed himself. Then it happen again ,and I am now dealing with my third major event.
      I am in a weird position and my group got first place and ended a dynasty. I got there partly because Spies didn't find out I was trying, and my group was not thought of as a threat and kept quiet. But I lose a lot of players and my people are susceptible, because I don't even trust them. I am constantly looking for saboteurs. In a cut throat situation, Paranoia is a survival skill.

    One of the most powerful aspects of this scene is how often Luthen says "plus kreyger". For as cold and devious as we see him it shows a level of weight that he mentally carries. He doesn't make these decisions lightly. It's 30 men plus kreyger.

    Skarsgård not getting a golden globe nomination has to be one of the biggests snubs of all time. But I'm glad Diego did. Skarsgård deserved it more, though. Epic acting. In fact the acting of almost every side character in this show is magnific.

    • @scush
      @scush 9 месяцев назад +12

      i wouldn’t say “more” … what diego did was phenomenal, too. his performance is so subtle yet grounded and diego’s own writing of cassian’s backstory and his personal biography as a mexican who supported and protested for the zapatistas as a young man was instrumental in forming the character of andor. diego absolutely put in the work and you can tell. this show probably wouldn’t exist without luna’s creativity and dedication to this role, so they are extremely fortunate to have cast him back then for rogue one.
      but yeah, you are obviously right about skarsgård, too; he is one of my new favourite actors. i first saw him in chernobyl and was completely entranced by his perfomrance-and that’s another series full of far too many brilliant actors to choose from. in an ideal world, they would have both gotten the award/nomination.
