so many bands I never heard of getting into DM at 16 in 1996 I am still finding bands in 2023 and I am 44! First 3 bands I heard were Deicide ST, Cannibal Corpse the bleeding, and Immolation here in after. completely altered my music tastes.

Old school Death Metal probably Altars of Madness for me. In 1989 or 90 I first heard the cassette....and my jaw was on the floor. Songs still really hold up today also. If I went to an MA concert and they played nothing but that entire first album, Id be happy af.
Athenar is unchallenged. His musical knowledge and diversity is vast. And remember kids, even brutal death metal can trace it's origins back to the blues and classical.
Metal in general can be traced to blues, but brutal death metal and death metal in general is a significant break away from the harmony/form of blues. In fact, so is Nü metal!!

He then claimed they played eight encores and when I questioned him, he said he had to help customers.

The first 3 CC are pretty much mandatory if you're and DM fan ;) I don't know about the 'BEST' DM album is but one of my all time favorite DM albums is Necrophagia - Holocausto de la Morte. But I do miss the 1980s... motorhead / venom / hellhammer/ sodom/ destruction ....crossover , HC punk and metal was all aggressive... the (88-89) 1990s really changed everything. I was 20 in '91 and liked 'Mental Funeral' when it came out and still like it haha Love the low fi production.

Everyone can shoot the ball from close to half court, the individual skill level is really high but the games are boring because of that and very few players have that swagger that they had back in the 80s and 90s. It's not all about technique.

Most of the people say that the song "Black Sabbath" by BLACK SABBATH is doom, not for me because that song was way ahead of it time due to the occult lyricism and the heavy and dark riffs (the "Devil's Tritone"), so, for me, that song is the beggining of Blackened Metal (not black metal).

well back in the day in the late 70's and early 80's here in south texas where mexican radio ruled the sound waves (thank God for Columbia house) and where the catholic church had a say so on what you could listen to, bands like kiss, black sabbath, iron maiden, rush, scorpions, judas priest, Led zeppelin, ac-dc and even boston were considered devil music..... and when the movie Heavy Metal came out that's when we started calling this type of music.... heavy metal in my area..... now its just classic rock.... Killer interview....

well back in the day in the late 70's and early 80's here in south texas where mexican radio ruled the sound waves (thank God for Columbia house) and where the catholic church had a say so on what you could listen to, bands like kiss, black sabbath, iron maiden, rush, scorpions, judas priest, Led zeppelin, ac-dc and even boston were considered devil music..... and when the movie Heavy Metal came out that's when we started calling this type of music.... heavy metal in my area..... now its just classic rock....
