The changes in Sammy's stance from 1996 to 1998 is remarkable.
They say that’s what helped him hit more home runs, and we know the other thing.

Thank you for this. It's crazy that despite how old Harry got, he never lost it. I remember Pat Summerall sounding completely lost in his last year, but Harry always had it. We only had him for 22 more months after this game.
I got to miss school to go to this game
THANKYOU! AFTER 21 YEARS I GET TO HEAR HARRY CALL ANOTHER CUBS GAME! SO many memories!
Harry Caray and Tony Gwynn R.I.P
@57:56- Tomorrow Morning at 630, LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Best station id I've heard!!
What a season. It came down to the last day of the reg. season with the Pads and Dodgers tied with 90 wins and those two happened to be playing that day. It was 0-0 in extra innings when Chris Gwynn won the game with a huge pinch hit.
Tony Gwynn and Ken Caminiti RIP.....Gwynn best hitter I have ever seen
Gwynn was a great hitter and a class act.

I miss Harry
1996 seems like just yesterday to me until i think about how all the players on the field are now retired....
Or dead
@@unsilentmajority1684 Tony Gwyn, Ken Caminiti, can’t think of anyone on the scrubs who died.

I remember this day. I was so exited for the opener that year & it didn’t disappoint. Mark Grace was my favorite player for years & this was an amazing way to start that season.
I moved into the city a few weeks later & caught quite a few games in 1996. It seems like yesterday and 100-years ago at the same-time.
:01 Steve Stone was quite prophetic, San Diego indeed won the NL West on 1996.
True, it came down to the final series in LA, where the Padres swept them.
Stony was called Nostonedamus
I wish I could jump in a time machine and go back to 96 :-(
No, you don't.
