      @@leejones3061 If you think the original Robocop didn't have toys, lunchboxes, happy meals and a saturday morning cartoon, you weren't paying attention. Nothing has changed and everything is as "woke" and commercialised as it ever was. You just didn't notice that you were a commodity to be purchased when you were a child. Police Academy, Beetlejuice, and a dozen other properties that probably shouldn't have been targetted to children all had Saturday morning cartoon shows.

      @watchm4ker 23 дня назад +2

      In fairness, the Beretta 93R was from the 70s, back when people still thought machine pistols were awesome and not unwieldy bullet hoses. It's supposed to be used with a foregrip and even a wire stock to make it somewhat accurate, but even then, it was pretty terrible.

    • @sevenproxies4255
      @sevenproxies4255 21 день назад +2

    • @watchm4ker
      @watchm4ker 21 день назад +4

      @@sevenproxies4255 The funny thing is? Not really. The reason for using a gun with a high rate of fire is to have a better chance of hitting difficult targets in a small window of opportunity. Murphy is *so* accurate, he wouldn't need more than one shot to hit his targets. Might as well save on ammo.

    • @sevenproxies4255
      @sevenproxies4255 21 день назад +2

      @@watchm4ker I disagree.
      Murphy doesn't just arrest single perps at gunpoint. He's acting like a nearly invulnerable one man SWAT team, like in the shootout at the drug factory, going up against some 20-30 heavily armed, resisting suspects.
      In those situations it would make sense to want to get a double tap effect on every single perp that's shooting at him.
      Also, while his legs may be slow, Robocop has very fast reflexes on account of his servo augmented arms and waist, so he'd be able to fire his Auto-9 in full auto bursts and have every single bullet of the burst hit their intended targets, even down to getting each single bullet hitting their own targets.

    • @sculpy2758
      @sculpy2758 19 дней назад

      @@sevenproxies4255 But he's still as accurate as a computer: watchm4ker's point still stands and your own points actually reinforce his. Robo only needs one bullet for any one human target: head or heart, and if he's one bloke going up against whole gangs as you say, then watchm4ker's point of conserving ammo is even more valid. He doesn't need double taps or three round bursts. He's a computer with machine aiming. And if he needs a second round for some reason? It isn't like he's a human who's going to be taken out by an only-wounded dude shooting him in the back.
      If Robo can get "each single bullet hitting their own targets" on full-auto as you say, then he can certainly get the job done with single bullets, or do what you just said! No need for 2 or 3-round bursts. At all.

But Ronons piece was insanely freaking badass! It kinda looked like the back end of a revolver and the front barrel of RoboCop's piece combined, but instead of bullets it was powered by some kind of energy cartridge that lasted for quite a while before needing to be replaced. Aaaaand best of all it had 3 settings, Stun⚡, Kill ☠, and lastly, the power to blow💥🔫 a 12" or bigger freaking hole in whatever you're aiming at...😁

      @@memeticistMachine pistols are very much a real thing but not very popular with military & police because they're hard to control in full auto and the high rate of fire means that you go through magazines like mad.

      @@memeticist not quite: it's a 93R; which has a slightly longer barrel, burst-fire-selector switch, an extended trigger guard and a folding foregrip, for your other hand to use & stabilise your shots. John Travolta uses one (without all the sci-fi cosmetic stuff) in Broken Arrow.

    Peter is a hoot on set!
    I had the pleasure of him directing an episode of a series I was bg and featured bg in. Besides watching him direct scenes, a couple of times I passed him or stood with him, waiting... for lunch, resets, turns. He has an awesome carry humidor for his cigars. It's a miniature trombone case. Hilarious and way cool. His observations were... sublime and next level sarcastic 😆.
    Fun fact: my lifetime friend's memorial was held at "The Son's of Herman" hall in Dallas TX , ten years ago.
    It was the location for the police precinct (interior) in Robocop. Our group took a pic in front of the doors that lead into the bullpen.

    A uniquely American twist. Like the back story of him watching TJ Lazer as a kid.
    Which sounded like a space age version of TJ Hooker with Bill Shatner. Everything was so detailed in these 80's movies. Layers upon layers of nuance and design.
    The way his leg opens up to stow the weapon is just cinematic genius.
    A real 'Oh cool' moment. The first time you see that. You never forget it. 😂

    It goes without saying Peter Weller is a class act and an impressive actor however one little detail especially after learning about guns that impressed me about the 93R which is the basis for the auto-9 is the fact it would actually cycle through with the set dressing on it
    But yeah twirling self-loading pistols requires a little bit of extra skill as they are not conducive to being spun
    Again Peter Weller is cool as hell
