    I Love my V6 Camry, lots of power and the MPG is good, I drove the 4 cylinder but but small gain in MPG was insignificant and lackluster noisy performance made getting the V6 an easy choice.

    Tbh i have NEVER been a Toyota fan especially the Camry but i must say the 2018 (XLE XSE) are really nice and I'm typically a muscle car kinda guy. I have to give credit when its due. Good Job Toyota!

    I just got my 81 yr old mother a 4 cylinder pearl red 2018 XSE Camry loaded with every option except the v6. It hauls ass when you hammer it. Just so you know my last car was a blown 04 Z06 with 600 rwhp. My 94 rag top vett had 300 crank hp. This 4 banger geared with a paddle shifted 8 speed auto is saaaaweet. Toyota's V6 in an XSE is perfectly targeted at young and middle aged drivers ,, I'm 59, and don't offer praise for a car easily,,, but i love this car. Moms 05 Avalon with 205k miles has been bullet proof for 13 yrs,, tires and oil,, no belts hoses or anything else has needed repaired. That's why she wanted another Toyota. And Bev Smith Toyota in Ft Pierce Fl, also gives a LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY,,no other Toyota dealer does that as far as I know,, if that motor blows up they will replace it FREE FREE or any other part of the drive train,,, holy shit are you kidding me dude, true, no matter how many miles you have on it,,,, GREAT FOR YOUNG BUYERS Good job Toyota, good job. THANKS BEV SMITH FT PIERCE FL. PS- Toyota of Stuart sucks

    I'm currently looking to replace my Infinity G37, and the V6 engine is the only reason I'm considering buying this car. Believe it, or not, the Camry XSE-V6 is at the top of my shopping list. Good job Toyota!!!

  • @DavidisNice
    @DavidisNice 7 лет назад +3

    The only reason I did not purchase a 2017 Mazda 6 is because there is no V6 offered, I was even willing to go for the Mazda 6 diesel that never made it here, but I refuse buying a car with a 4 cylinder with or without a Turbo and I REFUSE buying one with a CVTurd transmission. I have been patiently waiting for Toyota to bring this bad boy and I will be ordering the two-tone XSE V6 as soon as possible.

  • @OakHillSoulman
    @OakHillSoulman 7 лет назад +5

    I have a '15 Mazda6 which I really like. I recently rented a Toyota Avalon and man how I liked the smoothness and quietness of that V6! I've always had V6s or in-line 6s until the Mazda which I got for fuel economy reasons, and I had almost forgotten how smooth and quiet a 6 can be. I've never really considered buying a Camry before even though they've had a 6 but now I'm going to seriously consider it. So, yes, for me it does move the needle! Plus there's now a little pizazz in the styling.

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter 7 лет назад +10

      It depends on how many times that you need to get into and out of the car per day. If you get in and out a few times an hour it's easier to live with a crossover. If you want a limousine ride for long trips then a car is the way to go.

    Between midsize sedans and crossovers, I prefer crossovers because of the commanding view of the road and added flexible cargo space. But personally, above both, compact hatchbacks is my segment of choice.
    All that said, if I was shopping for a new car now, I'd consider this new Camry! What an amazing package!

    my dad owns an 04 Camry and he is putting upwards of 300 miles on it everyday. it is still running like a charm. there has not been one single major problem with it. these thing are really reliable. also with the modern CUV, some of them are so low that they are practically sedans with a hatch( Kia Niro, mini countryman). so in other words most people don't really care about the higher ride height, if they did they would go buy a true SUV.

    I have a crossover (SQ5) but I'm still looking for a car to replace my 2007 Camry. I wouldn't choose a V6 because I need an economical daily driver, but I would still give this car a test drive. Toyotas are affordable and reliable, so that's a plus

I had a Holden commodore vf ssv and sold it for my sl and save 50% on fuel and have almost the same power and 20 time the quality to the Holden. Enjoyed your videos and answering your question - over the years we actually chose both the crossover RAV4 and the Camry mid-sized passenger car. But this time it was car/Camry. What I mean is we got a new RAV4 in 2008 and recently got a 2019 Camry SE 2.5L 4, replacing a 1997 Corolla. The 2019 Camry SE is our 8th Toyota and we're loyal because if you don't wreck it you can get 20+ years mostly trouble-free out of a Toyota. Even more than 20 years as our 1997 is going to our grandson as his first car. The 11 year-old AWD RAV4 is going strong, replacing a 1992 Toyota Pickup that a friend bought and loves. Yeah, we're loyal and so far the 2019 Camry SE is the best yet as long as it's reliable like the other 7! We're lovin' it now and feel like we're driving a hot looking NASCAR pace car. The 2.5L 4 cylinder makes sense for us, it'll cruise at 80 mph and still get good mileage. In the city it's a smooth driver and again gets great mileage. Who really wants to pay $5000 more for a V6 hybrid paired with a CVT transmission!

    I'd pick the V6 Camry XSE, white, with black leather. However, they should add memory seats, cooled seats and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Of course, I'd have to test the seats out and check for road noise. It's nice Toyota made a lot of the safety aids standard including LED headlights, since a lot of aging adults purchase Camry's.

      geosh10 if you check out for road noise you'll be very disappointed, not only the road noise,is the wind noise, the motor noise,the big trucks noise,to make it short,for me is the worst ride you can find in the market,good transmission but I think is the only thing it got very good . regards.

      @@jesusmezaarroyo6306 you're over exaggerating lol the noise is not that bad. Unless you ride in silence which I'm assuming you don't if you're a normal human with the radio up you're not gonna hear it. And unless you turn on your car everyday and just stand by it enough for it to annoy you that so call major noise from the engine is not that serious

    • @jesusmezaarroyo6306
      @jesusmezaarroyo6306 6 лет назад

      @@ZBo-tw2ri well, I drove a toyota camry SE, brand new for almost 8 months, when I bought it I thought that I could use it for work( 50 a day) and once a while to go with my 3 kids and wife, to fresno and LA. At the beginning I was kind of disappointed for how fragile and stiff felt the ride, then I thought maybe with the whole family and luggage could be better, to make short, was the worst ride that I ever felt, besides the noise, the wind moved the really bad even when it was really heavy, I just thought what kind of junk just bought, for me toyota was one of the best cars from 90s thru 06s but the new ones nothing compared with the old ones,and guess what? I returned the new and I just bought a 2003 toyota camry le, it drives amazing, ride is smooth the the noise is under 68 db, by the way new probably on the 80 db, good luck with the new cardboard cars of today, by the way American cars now are better than Japanese for me. No offense for anyone, regards.

    I personally love 4 cylinder Toyotas. My 17 year old Camry gets 34 MPG and goes a long way in between gas fills/visits to the mechanic. 4 Cylinder costs much less to maintain and if you hammer it, has much more power than people think. If you want to keep a car for 15-20 years and spend very little $ to do so, a 4 cylinder Camry, Corolla or Civic/Accord is the way to go.

    Family enjoys both the D-Seg and crossover, its just more about what serves you best. D-seg lacks room, especially with kids or just general day to day chores, but great on the commute and gas mileage for the most part. However as gas mileage have improved over the years its harder to decide between the two other than personal styling or driving platform preferences.

  • @TokyoDensetsu
    @TokyoDensetsu 7 лет назад +14

    I'm in the, "never buy a crossover," boat. A lot of small CUV's don't even give you an advantage over a sedan unless you just like sitting a bit higher. I prefer the better dynamics and handling characteristic of a car (given it's a car with that purpose). Even a dull, lifeless car should be more entertaining to drive than a comparable dull, lifeless CUV. I hope the CUV fad dies and automakers can get back to making interesting cars again.

    • @TokyoDensetsu
      @TokyoDensetsu 7 лет назад +1

      I hear ya but, a lot of families that buy them don't even need the added utility, given the vehicle even has any added utility. A lot of small CUVs don't offer any more space than a comparable small - midsize sedan. Of course, to each their own. I just wish that the market would shift back towards cars so that manufacturers could get more enthusiastic about their car offerings again.

    • @Jsmoove8k

      Tokyo Densetsu / トウキョウ伝説 and that's a legit argument ... Car models are getting so lazy now .. Honda discontinued their v6 coupe and it was a great looking car , Chevy is gonna discontinue maybe 2 sedan models ... Coupes are dying fast and they are the funnest to drive , and sedans are being overtaken by the crossovers already

    When I first saw the new Camry in the press, I acknowledged that they were trying to make it look more sporty, at least on the SE and XSE models, but felt it was overstyled, particularly the front. Now that I've seen a couple in person, particularly in the dark red and black, I have to admit they look pretty good in person. As to the V6 question, yes, absolutely I would get the V6 over a 4 or turbo 4, and this comes from an Audi turbo 4 owner. As much as I like that T4 low end torque, the V6 just pulls all the way to redline and sounds better. Kudos to Toyota for bucking the trend. I'll be interested to see how the 2018 Mazda 6 turbo stacks up!

  • @ncrubyguy8

    Reliability is #1 for me but I also love the back roads. I don't like the compromise in handling for anything higher than a sedan, but with kids I can't justify or afford a 2 seater. Hence a sporty feeling "D segment" car with the best reliability (to compliment our Sienna SE). Now should I go engineering geek with a hybrid or midlife crisis with a V6?

    Back when we lived at Upstate New York where the winters can be harsh, we needed AWD as a minimum and a higher ground clearance which our CUV has. Now that we're back in southern Arizona where we might see snow in town maybe 2 days every few years? We don't need an AWD CUV that much. The ground clearance still helps during the rainy season where downpours can cause water to accumulate quickly. That is for say, 2 months during summer. The rest of the year? Sunshine and lots of it. A sedan is just fine. And yes, we have our sights set on a 2019 Camry SE. The 203 HP of the 4-cyl is plenty enough. No need for a V6. What disturbs me is the price of a V6 is out of proportion to what they were a decade ago. It seems to me cars with bigger engines are being penalized, making them more expensive. Newer regulations (as in requirement for higher gas mileage), perhaps?

  • @jasonalagna4928
    @jasonalagna4928 7 лет назад +1

    Honestly, people like AWD even if they don't need it. If more D-segment cars had AWD I think they would sell. This is pretty much THE reason Subaru does so well in my opinion

  • @JamesSmith-ez6bo
    @JamesSmith-ez6bo 7 лет назад

    I think the new Camry XLE V6 looks great. Their big brother Lexus needs to take a lesson from this trim - I love studying about cars. I really like the look of this model. I've always thought these level cars should have a sports oriented trim. While many lust for E63's or M5's, most budgets are Camry & Honda. While their are sporty cars at similar prices, most families won't fit. Car people prefer to drive something that doesn't feel like they've been neutered. I give Toyota credit for adding this trim. Now they need some kind of suspension dampening to compete with the Fusion Sport V6. To keep weight down & improve cornering w/o AWD, they need to add the "trick differential" the VW GTI uses to fight under steer that plagues FWD or try the interior Rear wheel (beefed up capacity) braking to help reduce the understeer less expensively & minimal weight.

  • @MrSayonara88
    @MrSayonara88 7 лет назад +1

    i would buy a crossover because higher ground clearance, mpg is just as good as some sedans, better resale value and more room of course...i'm pretty sure those are the same reasons other people buy them as well..

  • @tyvanhworkout
    @tyvanhworkout 7 лет назад

    No, it doesn't move the needle for me; it's nice but by the time you add all of those extras plus the V6, it's probably going to cost the same as a Nissan Maxima, whose roofline it seems to be mimicking. I'll take the more aggressive and potent Maxima, thanks. As for D segment cars with 4s, turbo charged or otherwise, you can keep them. I've always been aware of the smooth/quiet difference and steer clear of them. I'm still enjoying my 2007 Pontiac G6 V6 which I bought new and still runs like a champ and outruns many of these new 4s and 6s.

  • @voodootrois

    I really like having a contiguous cargo and passenger volume. A compact (Mazda 3) hatchback is perfect now, but I'll want a bigger vehicle when I have a family.
    It seems everyone is buying a crossover, and everything is being labeled a crossover (e.g., Kia Rondo, Buick Regal TourX). Soon, the "hip" will seek a differentiated vehicle. I hope and expect either the MPV or the wagon to be a marketing success during next decade.
    For seating 5, my preferences would be: 1) D-segment wagon, 2) mid-size MPV (bad 3rd row is fine), 3) compact crossover, and 4) D-segment sedan.
    For seating 7, my preferences would be 1) mid-size MPV (caring about the 3rd row), 2) D-segment 3-row wagon (if they still exist, anywhere), 3) an ordinary not-so-mini minivan, and 4) mid-size crossover.

      Same here, I have a 2014.5 SE and I'm 37. The exterior styling looks great and it drives so well on the roads. I traded in my Lexus IS for my Camry (even though I miss the HP) and I can't say enough about the mpg in the Toyota (both made by Toyota I know). I don't miss paying premium gas prices either.

    Reminds me more like a maxima but I love this Camry got a 2017 SE but the fact this has a bit over 300 HP on a v6 I'm so getting my hands on this. Even for the current model I'd chose it over any D segment car which I already did and love my Camry traded my Altima. I was considering a maxima, C300, even a q50 but this caught my attention big time I want the v6! Only if the v6 had a turbo other than that I want it!

  • @jblyon2
    @jblyon2 7 лет назад +3

    I'd go for a V6 over a pure direct injection turbo 4. They are very prone to carbon buildup on the intake valves, and because of how the turbos are built into the exhaust manifold they can be severely damaged by the excess heat normal carbon cleaning products cause. If Toyota made a D4S turbo 4 I might consider it, as when it's using traditional multiport injection the fuel would keep the valves at least reasonably clean.

    • @jblyon2
      @jblyon2 7 лет назад

      Terry Chao You're correct with the NX turbo. I suspect it's too expensive right now to offer in a car like the Camry (plus it doesn't currently make enough power to compete with the V6). D4S is already pricey due to the dual fuel delivery systems. Add a turbo on top of that and you're easily over the cost of a V6. If they can meet fuel economy / emissions requirements with the V6 it's the more economical choice.

As for the V6 vs Turbo 4..longevity w/o problems and overall cost to own..I would at least look at the V6..refinement/smoothness are still relevant vs all out performance and economy.. Enjoy the Drive!

    I'm a wagon guy, performance of a car with the space of an SUV crossover. Yes it's heavier because it has more sheet metal and glass compared to a sedan or even more to a sport coupe, but I have the extra cargo space when needed. Yes it's no way sporty, but I would rather have a wagon Camry with the new design offered on the 2018 sedan and v6 motor, just stretch the roofline!
    Wagons are not great in the US market, but didn't the Camry had a wagon variant a few years back, same as the accord?
    Current market I know are the audi allroad, vs golf alltrack, BMW 3 series, and the more expensive MB e class.
    And no, I would never own a prius v.

    Considering that Honda is dropping its V6 for 2018, a V6 in a Camry may be a selling point. We'll have to see how well the 2.0L Turbo (mated with a 10 speed auto-trans) does in the Accord in order to make a comparison

    The V6 alone would make me choose it over the others -- I can't stand i4's. Then the styling on the XSE is sexy. The new Accord is hideous and no V6. Secondly, I can't stand SUVs. I would never buy one. Don't like, don't want -- and I don't understand the recent obsession with crossovers.

    SSSSOOOO Honda just released its new 2018 Accord and dropped its V6 and it made me think about the V6-vs-not topic. I have a 2014 Camry V6 ..and I more or less love it. Having had a 2008 Civic, the way I drove it I earned an average of 23mpg around the town/burbs and 34 on the highway going 80-85mph. After several years in the V6, I get a combined average of 23-24 on unleaded with a lot more authority, acceleration, speed and overall a much more rewarding and fun feeling included. I think the V6 was worth the upgrade (esp with these lower gas prices as of late). I think the Camry V6 is a great motor but there are two let-downs. 1 - the engine develops its peak power/torque at the higher rev ranges and 2. the transmission values smoothness and has no sense of urgency. It appears in the new 8-speed, the same case exists. My 6 speed seems to be quite smooth but doesnt allow punchy acceleration. A sport mode for the trans would have maybe enabled a little more spirited acceleration and having watched this video of a tuned up version of the same engine, it seems that only the numbers have gone up..but that the same feeling persists in this new Camry. V6 has power, it is smooth and sounds growly but it isnt necessarily as quick as one might expect. So the new Camry has a V6, a naturally aspirated engine that might be safer in the long run.. but the Honda Accord mixes it up by offering an engine that offers nominally less (250) horsepower than the outgoing (2017) Camry V6, but more torque (270 vs 248)..all the while making it available at much earlier RPM ranges making the power more usable. :/

    Except RAV4 Hybrid, we have just all the boring Toyota cars over here: Avensis, Auris, Yaris.. having Diesel (loud) or 1.2L Turbo (even louder) or 1.8L (rather weak).
    I'm looking forward for Camry Hybrid reviews, it's a great power train, have it in my RAV4 Hybrid, it's gorgeous!

    We currently own a V6 SE 2011 and 2016 Lexus GX460. My wife wanted the Lexus so we bought it but I'm stuck driving because she commutes long distance tho her job. As a 39 year old man, I see why all the noise about SUVs but I miss my car dearly. I'm trading Camry in two years and I'm still getting another V6 Camry. I thought about getting the LEXUS IS350 but now the Camry makes just as much power. In the states I really think RWD is a bit unnecessary.

    1st question: The offer of a V6 doesn't sway my decision ESPECIALLY in a D-segment car. In my opinion, performance is NOT the purpose of D-segment, it's to get you from point to point in the most economic way possible. It's the car that's lived in rather than to be driven. I'll take creature comforts over performance for this class. If I either want a better driving experience or a jack of all trades, I'll be looking at sports or luxury segments.
    2nd question: I'm not a fan of crossovers. If I needed more space or cargo room, I'd get a full on SUV or minivan. I feel a crossover is the worst of both worlds, not enough capacity to justify the loss in manageability (getting around tight spaces, harder to park, etc).

  • @shuyu9015

    I actually like this better than the guilia *ducks* - v6 is cool, but I probably prefer the 40+mpg in the 4 banger yet has 200hp. good enough. but interior should be nice. crossover? actually, probably. I know they're not off roaders by any means, but sometimes the higher seat position gives a better view on road trips, and on such road trips, sometimes you meet off pavement trails - ala death valley, or etc, and that extra height helps. a lot.
