Hello from Ontario Canada I am 44 and I grew up watching Rodney Dangerfield , Richard Pryor , Eddy Murphy and George Carlin just too name a few this is when comedy was comedy back then you could make jokes about people and other things and everyone understood it was comedy FYI Ed McMahon which is the guy on the left whom is Johnny Carsons sidekick Ed McMahon went on too host Star search in the 80s as well which was the very first talent show .
If you noticed, and if you didn't rewatch and see, but after his jokes, he listens to the crowd to hear if they laugh or not and if so, how loud. If he has them going, he continues but if they are so so or not much noise, he moves to the next set and goes again. That's a true pro. Always listen to your crowd and give them what they want. That's how you get on top and stay there. Rodney was a master at it for a few decades and is known as one of the all time greats of Comedy for it!
Great reaction guys! 😁 A friend of mine actually partied with Rodney after a show. He told me that Rodney was even funnier off stage while hangin’ at the bar! 🤣
Rodney was known to be a lot of fun off stage as well, he’s one of those people you’ll never hear bad things about, he was known for being a really good person. I remember hearing him on the Howard Stern Show talking about how much he loved weed, and had been smoking it since his teens. He was in his 80’s and said he still smoked pot a few times everyday.
That was 🪙 Gold!
I saw him in 1987 in NY. The air conditioning at the venue was broken and it was burning. He was so friggin funny, I couldn’t catch my breath from laughing. It was like a machine gun of one liners. It was amazing. My girlfriend wasn’t laughing. I knew then and there she wasn’t right for me. She’s gone.
More Tonight Show Rodney, many great ones and it's always too see Johnny Carson, the all time king of late night show hosts. The big guy that you didn't know when Rodney walked over to sit down was Ed McMahon, Johnny's long time side kick. They were like peanut butter and jelly together, the perfect match and together for like 25 years until Carson retired I think in 93.✌️☮️💕
The dude to the left of Rodney is/was Ed McMahon Johnny's side kick.
... and host of Star Search for many years, not to mention endless Sweepstakes and Life Insurance commercials.
Yes! You are correct, sir!
Guy on the left was Ed McMahon. Check out the old SNL skits where Dana Carvey did Johnny Carson and Phil Hartman did Ed McMahon. Carvey spun out a ‘Carsinio’ version of this where he blended Carson and Arsenio Hall.
Awesome!
Rodney is the new Henny.
He issued two albums on Arista and Casablanca in 1980.
Carol Burnett elephant story and the dentist sketches. Mama's family Sorry sketch
The guy on the left is Ed McMahon. Co-host with Johnny Carson, and Publisher's Clearing House spokesperson afterwards.
you need to check out any Robin Williams full interview on Johnny Carson (1984) but one you chose is hilarious. Carson can't keep up. Williams first ever time on the set of the Carson show is hysterical
Listening to Rodney got me thanking about him doing something with Tracy Morgan, if Rodney was still here.
You guys need to check out Don Rickles when he is on Johnny Carson. You'll love him!
Dangerfield was also on Seinfeld too.
The guy on the left is Ed McMahon hes Johnny's sidekick
React to Tommy Smothers doing an imitation of Johnny Carson on the Johnny Carson show it's spot-on
Just subscribed. Dig you guys. I grew up watching this live. I am so happy the next generation are finding the GREATS.
Back in the 70s and 80s, it was pretty standard when someone would say, "He's so fat" or "She's so ugly" or "He's sooooo slow" for the audience to shout, "How fat was he?" "How ugly was she?" and so on. And the person would say "He" or "She" was soooo (whatever) and then punch line it. I still do this. If you're with a group of older people, try it out. It might have started on the Match Game. Or it may have started with 'the dozens'. That's a guess.
8:30 "O death, where is thy sting?" is from the New Testament.

I hope that you guys listen to Don Rickles. His humor makes fun of prejudice. He's hilarious 😂
No Respect is his tm.
"FINALLY SOME RESPECT" reads his tombstone..he died of Cancer in 2000.
His "shtick" was definitely self deprecation. He did it really well. You might like 'Back to School'.
Also, I just subscribed. I think this channel has a bright future ahead of it and I wanna see it grow!
Ed McMahon is big guy on the left.
Ed McMahon is the sidekick
yoooo you guys gotta check out George Carlin - The Trillion Daves
Guys. Just subscribed and started going through your posted videos. I notice you haven't done any Steven Wright. Wright is missed by most reactors. He's an extremely deadpan, brilliant comic who thinks of things in everyday life and puts his spin on them. Some reactors watch him with their jaws hanging open because they just don't get the jokes. (Some reactors are a bit dense.) If you want to try someone who's extremely unique, no one is like Steven Wright.
He would’ve been canceled in a nanosecond today, but see how the audience then was all in.
@ 3:47 As someone below said that's Ed McMahon, Johnny's longtime side-kick and announcer of each show. Here is a brief one minute video of a typical Johnny Carson show intro by him... ruclips.net/video/WZKmsA8bzao/видео.html and pay close attention to his regular, famous line at 0:25. If you guys have not seen the movie "The Shining" (1980) yet, that's good! You'll see what I mean when you watch The Shining later... (don't want to spoil it!) Ed was a drinker, quite tipsy on each show. 😁👍
Ed McMahon who is Johnny's side kick
Guys the GAIN ON Rodney is too low.
THESE GUYS SOUND CANADIAN. ANYONE KNOW? FUNNY SOUNDING.
Ed McMan
Henny Youngman step aside.
Where are you two from?
Maybe but Robin William made Carson roll over
This is part #1 and there is a part #2
Take a look

McMannon later became Mc of Star Search.
