- Up there as a lot of peoples favourite locos (certainly mine!) are the mighty class 37's.
What could be better than 15 mins of nothing other than Class 37's if you're a fan of these amazing locos!
See a mix of light engine moves, double-headed, unit drags, freight and other workings all together here in one video.
Hope you enjoy it - Long live these beasts!

Whenever a modern train breaks down (even for a faulty door!) Class 37 comes to the rescue.
Was there ever anything more beautiful than a 37 in ROG livery.❤
That whole shape of the 37s , 40s the 45s and 44s were awesome. The “thrash “ is amazing .
Your video is top notch . Brought back lots of memories. Thanks .
Very evocative!!! I bought my house next to the Cumbrian coast railway in 2005 and became fascinated by the roar of the trains…..well the 37’s!
We were spoiled!
What a brilliant video. Well done
Still the best sounding loco on the UK network. Closely followed by the 68!
I think the 92 would beat the 68 all day long but nothing beats the growl of a 37.
50 ..
Love the 20’s 50’s and 40’s too
@@annatrindall9829no such thing as a 92!!!! Still a 37 to me
@@cidertom5140 yes there bloody well is such a thing as a class 92. They pull the Caledonian sleeper train along with the class 73's. 92043 was on the sleeper the last time I was on it & 92014 was on other end. For you to say there's no such thing as a 92 shows a lack of knowledge
Used to drive them every day up the west highland line from Glasgow queen st to Oban when I was a fireman out of eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow 1974
Those were the days 👌👍
That was awesome, thankyou.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
😊❤ good stuff
Remember there used to be class 40s that were almost the same shape that vanished in the 1980s and made a different noise, whistling.
More like a pair of 20s than a 37! Only ever seen 1 Class 40 working, D200 on farewell run to the NRM at York.
My dad was the oldest driver at Polmadie, Glasgow to ever qualify at 43 years old after leaving the Air Force. This was his first train to drive. After that he worked with BNF and direct rail services out of Sellafield.
The sound that was around the south Wales valleys for many years 🚆🏴
Lovely sound, always sound good when thrashing
Indeed! Great sounds 👌👍
This is ........EPICCCCC!! Sometimes it feels like you make these videos just for me 😄
Tractors are hard to beat 👌👍
perfect sound !!!
Chucking it down at Shrewsbury 😂
Yes - Remember that day! Soggy to say the least 🤣🤣
It is apt that Class 37s were built at the EE Vulcan Foundry, as they have truly "Lived Long & Prospered". 60 years old & still growling.
Definitely my favourite class of vintage traction, with the class 20 being a very close 2nd.
I’d definitely agree with that - Great locos! 👌👍
Nice timing of the tractors through the scissors crossover at Derby 😂
Good timing there - Got lucky with that one 🙏👍
Great video as usual 👍
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
PS: your steady camera work should be an essential reference for all those who wish to upload videos to RUclips.
Thank you - Much appreciated 🙏👍
Great footage just noticed some of those 37 don’t have full snow ploughs fitted just have the two at the sides ? Centre one is missing..
❤
I live in the US and grew up on our local "rail fauna". I'm not sure why, but the Class 37s have always appealed to me!
The noise is unique 👌👍💥
Nice but was hoping to see the 37418 shot at Rugeley in this lot.......
That was the day my mic broke unfortunately- One of the best moves of the year! It sure picked its day to pack up 🤯🙈
@DestinationTrainsPlanes oh right I see so you can never get any sound on that video at all? I thought it was an editing issue. Yes pity that. Things always seem to pack up at the worst possible time :(
I love these but prefer 47.
Which class (37 or 47) would you say was the spiritual successor to the Black 5s?
For what it's worth I like both too, but prefer the growl of the tractors.
@@stephendavies6949 I'd say the Class 47 was the diesel "Black 5" equivalent.
@@danielsellers8707 Wouldn't argue with you.
@@stephendavies6949 Most UK railfans seem to prefer the English Electric growl to the Sulzer splutter... In USA it's been EMD 2 strokes ever since steam finished! Scandinavian "Class 37" is NOHAB / EMD built in 1950s-60s.
@danielsellers8707 Yeah, the 2-strokes have ruled the roost since the introduction of the class 59s & then the ubiquitous 66s. These days, the lazy growl of the 37 is a welcome change to all the frantic-ness of modern diesels.
Excellent filming, thanks for sharing 😊 37’s 🚜 are the best 👍👍👍👍👍
Love the sound of those locos.
Brilliant video well done great camera work as usual as well bye for now Philip
Glad you enjoyed it - Thanks as always for watching 👍🙏
Yes i do enjoy watching your lovely videos. Keep your lovely camera work up. Try using your tripod more bye for now Philip
Awsome😊😊
Great selection, thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
always nice to see these beasts at work on the main-line! nice video of tractors & choppers on the move 🤩😍🥰
Thanks - Always good to catch them 👍
@@trainsplanes you get about it must cost you a fortune all the travelling you do! and yes I agree its always nice to see propper old-school loco's on the mainline as they're not the same on private railways with a 25mph silly speed limit!
