REALLY?? OMG, thank you for letting me know! I'm so jealous! I hope ypu find lots of pretty rocks in all kinds of colors. The moonstone are actually chalcedony, but can have agate bands. Have a BLAST! ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️
COLORED CEMENT!! That's a good one!! I think any rock that YOU like is a keeper!! Would live to see what you got. Can't post pics in YT comments, but I'm on TikTok and Facebook. Maybe pist it there or just list what you think you got. I want to go there now!!
I’m 71, didn’t realize how much I loved rocks until I was in my 50’s or so. We lived in Pismo Beach for a while, until 5 years ago, and found out about the beach rocks in that general area, a few miles south of where you’re at. I used to go down there with a bucket and bring rocks back for our small front yard. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks!
Hey, Wally! We twins! I've always loved rocks, but it took moving back to California (in my 50s) and seeing the stunning rocks at this very San Simeon beach to send me back into rockhound heaven! Are you referring to Moonstone Beach as there isn't much South of there? I'm glad my video brought back happy rockhounding memories! ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️
@@CacklingChick Yes, can't find the for-sure turnoff street (right off Cabrillo Hwy.) on the map now, but there was a small parking lot and it was actually a bit north of the main Moonstone beach drag. Maybe Hearst Memorial viewpoint? Later ....
Howdy!! Ditto on the distance to get there! We were there on Saturday and Sunday. Not as many different rocks this time, though. I'm hoping for some good storms to stir up the beach this winter! Lots of very small speck-sized rocks (sand) along the shore. A month ago was spectacular, though!! Do you go very often? ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️
I really enjoyed this! And i appreciate that you see the beauty in all rocks, makes me feel better about picking up any ordinary rock just because its cool😂! I cant wait to spend some time on the beaches in central and northen ca next month!
Hey Dorena! I'm so glad you enjoyed rockhounding and watching nature with me! I'm heading to this beach right now. Can't wait!! Yes, rocks are everywhere, even at stores and city parks and I look there, too. Have a wonderful time rock hunting when you go next month. 😀👍🏻⛏️🪨
Tou really meed to go to fort Cronkite in marin county. One of the few beaches where you can find cornelians. Red pink orange clear with strips and bands. Prettyest rocks you ever seen. The chinees go there and fill up buckets . Alsoz if you want to get real navy seal like take the secret coastal scenic route on the way out there , its one way so only on the way. Park and gime down to any of those little beaches . You can find big daddies doen there. Ots amazing.
Hey, Tara! No, I haven't found any jade (nephrite) at this beach, which is at William Randolph Hearst Memorial View Point. This is still an excellent rockhound location, though! However, just a little further up Hwy 1 to San Simeon, there's a beach right across from a hotel at the north end of town. Go down to that beach and you'll find a few occasional very dark green jade (nephrite) pieces. I did just that in this video!! ruclips.net/video/KnxPuHD7I34/видео.htmlsi=QGEXVeFGLEqmVQDy. Jade Cove is on my list. SOON!! ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️
Hey Shawna! Rockhounding is prohibited at national parks. The activity is legal at California state parks, but these parks have their own rules. At a California state park you cannot collect more than 15 lbs. of material per day. In addition, the use of tools is almost entirely off limits. I would think using a small hand trowel is perfectly fine though and 15 lbs is a LOT. I hope this helps. Many thanks!!
Thank you so much! I was at Moonstone Beach a week ago and found SO many moonstone agates! I also found a few AWESOME mult-colored ones that are absolutely STUNNING! Video is coming soon for that rock hunting adventure! I truly appreciate your feedback! ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻⛏️🪨

So it’s only in state park beaches that you can’t keep rocks?
