    I really like how he explains the history of many etiquette. It makes a lot of sense once he explains it! Etiquette is not some trivial rule people randomly made up, but has a lot of history behind it and a practical purpose at the time it developed.

    I like the way Gino trivializes everything.. she should not have apologized for Gino's comments.. its insulting.. everybody was having fun because of his presence in it..

    • @PrimoPete
      @PrimoPete 3 года назад +1

      I'm guessing the producers through her earpiece made her say it.
      They do the same in this morning, whenever Gino makes a spicy comment.

    What do you do when you can't eat any of food presented to you?

    • @vrenak
      @vrenak 4 года назад

      If you have allergies or follow some form of strict dietary requirements, a good host has made sure that there is food that you can eat there. So if there's nothing there, the question really is, why did you hide your dietary requirements from someone that presumably are relatively close to you?

    • @shaniatreyu9303
      @shaniatreyu9303 4 года назад

      I believe that the host couple would've sent menus to their guests prior to ordering the catering depending on how formal it is, so you would have time to call them up and explain your dietary restrictions. There's a couple ways it's handled. They could either change the menu to make sure you can eat or they can reserve a special food plate for you so you don't have to sit at reception while everyone else eats. However, most weddings these days prefer buffet style and they usually have different kinds of food available you can pick and choose to your comfort. That being said, it's usually on a case-by-case basis. They will be accommodating if your restrictions are due to medical reasons (allergies, food intolerance), but they can choose not to accommodate if it's a frivolous reason (like you prefer chicken than beef).

    HI William. I have been watching many of your videos about etiquette and public behavior etc. I enjoyed most of them especially with Gino & Mel. One thing which I have observed is that most of it is British based. Although you are British, not every one will be. We all come from different backgrounds. However after seeing your various videos I believe that Britishers can get offended very easily. Dont you think, that life can be lived without too many rules and regulations. Excluding misbehavior, I think you should just let people be themselves and not be someone else. If being formal is not you, then its artificial behavior. I have some English friends but when it comes to asking him to do something, the answer I get is " I am not your secretary mate". Is this coming from a long history of being too sensitive or having a low tolerance level or perhaps having higher ego. My intention to write this to you is that I believe too much etiquettes makes us less adaptable to people. It creates barriers and we are not ourselves. It also leads to lack of tolerance level causing immediate irritation and frustration and leading to depression. I am sure many Britishers are in a state of loneliness and depression. My advice. Too many rules spoils the fun.
    May be have a look at Indian and chinese cultures. Although you may find it less civilized, it will teach you adaptability, tolerance and flexibility. Dinners are even held there, parties are also thrown there, gifts are also given there. But people would enjoy more in a free environment. I hope you will think about it..... looking forward to your comment. thanks

      Bhavik Bhatt I am probably late to the discussion but with all due respect, I disagree with you. I am Chinese, but I also appreciate proper manners. Being crude is not equivalent to "being ourselves". And guess what ? One of my friends used to offer help to others all the time without consulting me, while he in turn would ask for my assistance to help his friend. That happened repeatedly and at one point I ended up having to tell him that I was neither his secretary nor his girlfriend. Your friend sounds like he had become really fed up with your repeated behaviour, to be so blunt. Sorry, etiquettes are about being considerate and polite, not about being snobby, unnatural or constrained (or whatever you call it).
      Btw, I enjoy William's vids immensely but I find this Gino guy really annoying. Sorry , he's not funny, just plain stupid and annoying.

      I like Gino's sense of humor. You know, sometimes it takes intelligence to be able to to look "intentionally" stupid or misunderstood. This is one of the bases of comedy, and you can find it in many great comedians. this technique is used so often by Chris Pratt also for example and not only it doesn't mean he's stupid, but it indicates the quick-witted-ness of the person. and I think Gino pulls it off well. He's spontaneous and I think these bits would be very boring without the presence of such person that can alter the mood and crack jokes, I mean yeah very few times he gets too far with his comedy/jokes, but still I wouldn't mind cause it's still comedy whatsoever.

      Asian countries like India and China and all the Far East have loads of rules and etiquette, from proper address and formality levels to how low you bow to someone (Japan, Corea) according to their hierarchical status. Women in India are not allowed in the kitchen while they have their period, a maid from a low caste cannot enter the kitchen or wash herself in the employers' bathroom and so on and so forth. Not to mention who can marry whom. And let's not even start about the caste system, and its excesses until quite recently. Compared to those things, etiquette rules in England are nothing!
