After hearing about so many chains I grew up with closing its doors and going out of bankruptcy, watching RUclips channels I love such as this help me enjoy living life.
That DIY Home Warehouse next to Burger King has been closed since at least 2001. I'm sure it's being used, they just never took the signage down. DIY Home Warehouse used to be a pretty popular home improvement retailer in northeast Ohio before it got killed off by Home Depot and Lowes. Great video as always Wallie! Love these videos, always bring a smile to my face.
Kraftmaid cabinetry took over their warehouse they do sales there every Saturday for contractors and to the public like scratch and dent deals things like that
I can’t believe that sign is still up! I saw that and it brought back memories of being a kid going to our local DIY with my dad. It was his favorite store.

That side road that you walked by with the music notes is David Grohl lane in Warren. He grew up there before he was famous. Look it up Wally. I used to go that Burger King all the time growing up
When that DIY home warehouse closed they sold me as much plywood as I could strap to the roof of my oldsmobile for like twenty bucks. Supplied my backyard wrestling fed with tables for years.

Speaking of the Pizza Hut location across from Burger King I don't like Pizza Hut anymore. When I was a kid growing up in the 1980s Pizza Hut was one of my top 5 favorites in Pizza. That was up until the end of the 1990s. Somewhere around the year 2000 to 2005 Pizza Hut started to change for the worse. Pizza Hut is nothing but slop.
@Concerned Individual for starters the Pizza crust is different. It doesn't taste the same as it did in the 1980s and 1990s. Also the sauce isn't the same. Back in the 1980s every Pizza Hut restaurant made there own dough. Now the the Pizza dough is shipped into the restaurant already made. Although I've never worked at Pizza Hut restaurant I've talked to people that have. One woman told me the sauce comes shipped in big buckets. The sauce is a thick paste from what she told me and all the restaurant has to do is add water to the thick paste. That is what a former Pizza Hut employee told me. Either way rather she was telling me the truth or lying to me I have noticed the difference in the taste in Pizza Hut Pizza sauce. It is not the same as it was in the 1980s and 1990s
@Concerned Individual taste varies depending upon the person you talk to. From my own perspective the Pizza joint in my area of ohio that has blow up delicious knock out tasty flavor may I recommend The Elmton Pizza restaurant and bar in Struthers ohio. They have there own homemade pizza dough recipe and there own homemade sauce for the pizza. The dough lady arrives at 8am in the morning to make the dough for the pizza and the batch of sauce is made in the restaurant homemade every week. The Elmton Pizza is a little pricey but quality and taste is unique to that restaurant and all its own.
@Concerned Individual I guess Pizza Hut wanted to streamline the pizza production process but doing that quality suffered
@@MrGoldenmango Yep, back in the 1980s and prior most locations made their own dough fresh in store. That probably started to change in the 1990s and everything was centralized at all locations by 2000 or so.

That's all the burger kings in warren are gone. Closest one is either over in champion or out by the Eastwood mall.
And there is an actual open Perkins right up the road from there, as well as one in Niles (catty-corner across the road from Meijer)!

@timblakeny-je5fs, when I went to Virginia in 2011 and 2012, Virginia Beach Boulevard had an abandoned Ames with the outlines where the letters used to be. I don't know if it's still there or not. That would be a great video for Wallie to do, if he wants to I mean.

The location used to be Walmart address is still Walmart Dr but they torn Walmart down and Menards built a new building

I work at burger in Washington Indiana and I'm a lobby attendant and it's very busy and looks just like The burger king but it doesn't have the play place it's was turn into a family room

DIY used to be a big regional hardware store chain in the cleveland ohio area my uncle and aunt met at the north randall location in the 90s. My mom worked briefly at the bedford oh location shortly before they closed when i was a kid there was DIYs in Parma heights, Brookpark near Berea, West Cleveland near west 130th and Medina next to Kohl's among many other locations throughout ohio

Not many! most in my area were Tom's kings the few still open are Carrols
If you're ever in the Ohio area again and preserved old steel mills but that's not really your thing if you want to see a mall that looks really good but is still a little outdated and you don't want to accidentally break laws check out the Eastwood Mall and the Chuck-E-Cheese at the Eastwood Mall is closing in pretty soon so be on the lookout for that and the Dave and Bridals

A bunch up here in Michigan also suddenly closed after franchisee went bankrupt. One in Grand Rapids, along very busy M11 suddenly all signs are gone. Maybee within last two weeks. I know of others lomg gone before that. One in my town, then new owner built another. One was demolished and replaced by credit union, a couple otjers tore down and now Dollar Tree locations (one in my town), others not sure yet what became of them.

This is a large BK, never seen one this large. The only time I saw a play place is a BK in the Bronx, most don't have one. McDonald's does, but some locations have taken them out.
Tops is now owned by Price Chopper, but it is seperate from them. One Price Chopper in Albany the locals call Ghetto Chopper.
It’s sad seeing any business going under. I’m always thinking about the people that needed that job to make ends meet. BK in my opinion has decent fast food, not the best but it’s better than McDonald's to me

@anthonycoach4551, my aunt used to work at Ponderosa (DuBois, PA) as a waitress and they had good food, but, all I remember is Pepsi or Dr Pepper, fries, chicken fingers and Mac and cheese from the buffet, at least that's what I ate and drank. I don't remember why my aunt quit though.
