I love the way you just ... ramble!! It's great!! Can I through some love towards "Songbirds" - It's a great card game where you have to keep the card of the bird you want to score but in keeping that card, you'll score less for that bird! It's a super simple game with loads of hidden depth! Agree with all your choices!! Great games in small boxes!!
Mine would include Cribbage, 6 Nimmt, San Juan (easier teach than Race for the Galaxy), Starship Catan, Mü, Tiny Epic Galaxies, Ogre/GEV, Titan: the Arena, Citadels, and Star Realms/Hero Realms (in some order). I left out CCGs, because they feel different to me, but if they were included (and they certainly fit the size constraints on some level), I'd remove something to include The Legend of the Five Rings and Seventh Sea. If I had the modern version, I'd include Condottiere, but my box is the bigger version from 20+ years ago.
Ooh 1987 Channel Tunnel-I picked that up earlier this year at a board game convention flea market. Glad to know it's a good one. I like the designs of those designers.
Love small box games! This is a good list. We love Button Shy for all manner of small games but there are so many great ones. I think the Boomerang series is my favorite. -Jen
Nice list - always good to have some small box games :) I would go for Love Letter, CABO, AirLand&Sea, MicroMacro, Circle the Wagons, MindBug, Spicy, Ruthless, The Lost Expedition and then smuggling in 'The King is Dead' because it could have an even smaller box 😀
Wow so many very strong games missing: Tiny Epic Gallaxies, Cafe, Age of Galaxy,, Skull, Fugitive, Hive, Paris Cite de La Lumieres, Innovation, Jaipur, Great Plains, Radlands, Long Shot the Dice game…. This is certainly a tough genre, and given Kingdomino got in (size) then 7 Wonders Duel, Watergate and Targi are major omissions
@@BoardGamingRamblings Agreed, but in any case you guys have such a fantastic dynamic, it so much fun watching your considered opinions delivered with humour.
So you’re big board game fans, AND you like disc golf?!? You’re my new favorite channel, not just due to those facts, but because your content is awesome! Thanks to Jamie and Jeff at Foster the Meeple, who introduced me to your channel. They’re still amazing too, obviously, but you two are so wonderful to watch!
@@BoardGamingRamblings awesome! Have fun and shoot well. I play all the time here in Oregon in the US. Want to get out and play internationally sometime. No problem though. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for an inspiring list. Must check out Arboretum and some more. Recommendation from my side would be Skullking. The bidding with the "Rum Rum Rum" chant is amazing.
Fun list! Some small box games suggestions for you: Team Play published by Schmidt Spiele; Slide 5 (also known as Take 5 and 6 Nimmt!) designed by Wolfgang Krammer; and No Thanks! published by AMIGO. Cheers!
2 very different fun small box games are Elevenses about serving the nicest tea and cakes (!), and Neanderthal, a game of survival between 3 ancient human types. But my favourite small box game is the first game I ever bought (at a second hand sale), the small box card version of the once great game Dungeon Twister (still great for us, one of our very favourite games of all time.) Thanks for your enjoyable video
These look fun. I'd have to include Import Export, Tokyo Metro, Hive Pocket, Trailblazers (travel), The Crew Mission Deep Sea, Curious Cargo, 7 Wonders Duel, Any good exit game, Arboretum, and Hanamikoji. Honourable mentions to Cafe, Lovaelace & Babbage, and Mandala
Love this topic! My list would include Similo (woohoo!), Air Land Sea, Schotten Totten, Hanamikoji, ROVE, Dale of Merchants, Abandon All Artichokes, Love Letter: Jabba’s Palace!
Not sure if Bamboo and Red Cathedral count as small box games (certainly smaller box) and therefore they are certainly worth considering in terms of crunch per cm3
Silver is pretty nice too even though I still prefer CABO by an inch. But CuBirds completely flopped in our group - okay, we played with 5P and I just checked there is 50% not recommending it at that count on BGG..
@@BoardGamingRamblings Yes, Hats went under the radar for some reason. Lovely production ... It even has a cookie. Similar mechanically to Mandala which people love. I'm not sure why it wasn't more successful.
@@nejomo indeed, without it I wouldnt like it half as much I think. Makes the game for me! It's just fine without but that takes it to the next level. Either way still a keeper!
Great video and not to sound to whiny but would be great to have time stamps, hold up the box briefly to see the size of the box, and maybe a photo or two of the game set up. Thanks
We need more channels like yours. I miss when pop culture channels werent about pandering to drama for cash lol.
Glad you are enjoying the content :)
So many games from Asia! Hanamikoji, Love Letter & Scout! Always glad to see Asian board games get some love!
Woop woop 🤩 So many good small box games!!

@@BoardGamingRamblings Absolutely. I think it's your sort of game.
Is the 11:00 a reference to Benedict Cumberbatch struggling with penguins ? 😀
Yes 😂
As Sunniva said, yes 😂
I love your list! I need to check 1987 and Shadows in Tokyo. I'd add CuBirds, Enchanted Plumes and Silver :)
Good to see Silver getting some love

loved the depth pun! hahaha
Hahaha 😅
For me nothing beats Third Edition of Innovation. The ultimate small box game ;).
We never loved that one, but we know a lot of people do :)
Mine would be Condottiere, Hanamikoji, Arboretum, Silver, Biblios, Floriferous, Hats, Walking in Burano, Abluxxen and 6 Nimmt (in no particular order)

"It's about trees, and being mean." 😅
The best way to describe it 😂
Café, Fox in the forest & trailblazers!
Really want to try Trailblazers!

Can't wait for the "Best Medium Sized Box Games" edition. Followed by the best Mega Box Games, and then......😁
Best game too big for boxes!
Have you played Cafe? If so, what did you think?
We have sadly not played it! Maybe we’ll need to find a copy?
I met one of the designers (Costa) here in Portugal the other day. Nice bloke. Clever little game. I even picked up the Ukrainian cafe card.

Nokosu Dice.

Arboretum at #1 is the correct answer.
It’s a fun one for sure 🤩
Brilliant game but not sure I'd call it fun fun fun. Isn't its nickname Murder Trees? Cutthroat, ruthless game! Love it.
