    I misspoke about two things on this review: 1. The headlight can blink and the taillight blinks as well. When stopping, the taillight will stop blinking and turn solid. 2. The throttle will go to full speed regardless of the PAS level setting. Sorry for the confusion. Oh, also, the front wheel is attached with a thru-axle..

    Looks pretty nice. I definitely think that torque/cadence selection is a standout feature that I hope catches on in all torque sensor bikes. I’m a big fan of the thinner tires, too, I don’t think I’d buy a 3” plus tire bike again. I ride almost always on pavement or gravel, and if a hardcore mountain bike can get by with approx 2.5” tires, I just don’t see the point of these super thick tires other than looks. Overall they are just loud and reduce your range. Good review, glad you finally bested the poor weather.

    Good morning Russ. Awesome review, I never rode a torque sensor. Personally I have a passcode to get into my e-bike. You said you don't have any passcode because you don't want to remember a whole bunch of passcodes, but if you use the same one for each bike then you only need to remember one code. ALSO One main reason why I actually activated my passcode is because I leave my bike locked when I go into stores or whatever and if I forget to alarm my bike, I would NOT want some random person screwing around my display and add a code which I would not know and be screwed. Plus, having a code adds an added protection so no one can ride away with my bike. Thank You for This Review 😎

    Enjoyed this review. Have to say Euphree Stellar Falcon purchase price agrees with price points for what you're getting. I have the Magicycle Cruiser Pro and pleased with the purchase. I have to say this eBike agrees with all that I would want (Cadence &Torque capabilities). For me it's a keeper.

    I'm really enjoying all of your reviews and discussions, thank you so much! I didn't think that I would be this obsessed about bike riding until I went out and started actually riding a bike again after decades, probably 40 plus years.
    Both are really nice looking bikes! They certainly would be something that I would consider if they had full rear suspensions on them. I'm so happy that decided to take the step to buy an ebike. I was walking around some of the sidewalks in Lakewood Ranch and I was surprised about how awful they are and considering the economics here there's no excuses. I still have an issue about driving around on the streets next to the cars. There's way too many people here screwing around with their cell phones and not paying attention.

    @3:49 Its PLUS tires are key reason I became interested in the stellar falcon. Plus tires of 2.8 to 3 inches or so work much better on the street. I'm glad you talked about knee pain. For people with knee of some kind of leg pain, they can pedal for awhile until the pain hits. If you suffer from 'pedaling pain', a throttle seems essential to have on an ebike

    Thank you Russ for a very good review. It has a UL approved battery that you only mentioned once in your review. That is a selling point that you should stress in your summary and helps substantiate the higher price. It is probably the first e-bike I will consider buying. Thank you again Russ.

    Seems like a great e-bike with extra quality features that most e-bikes don't come with. Only thing I've noticed is motor is quite loud compared to certain other e-bikes, example VanPowers Urbanglide Pro which is so much quieter.

    Really good job and very thorough review. Thanks for doing that Russ. I said last year I was hoping someone would come out with some type of a map switch to flip between cadence and torque. So glad to see some upgrades like this being done. Hopefully continue with the better weather.

      I’m happy to see it. I prefer the control and feel of a torque sensor, but I have a bum knee, and when I tweak it or am towing a laden trailer, I’d like to be able to switch it to cadence mode to reduce the load on my knee. Seems like an easy task to do with software, and I hope all brands do it.
      One question on cadence sensor mode - do the PAS levels correspond with discrete power/current amounts or speed targets? Between the two, I prefer setting power as it’s easier to control the bike with it than the speed-setting style. I’ve been thrown off my Espin Nesta because it throws nearly 1000W of power at me through its 85Nm motor starting from a stop. I dropped the speed targets for the first two PAS levels so it gets to only 400-500W, but I still don’t like it.

    Thanks for the awesome review . You didn’t mentioned anything about range on full battery I was waiting for that 😔

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  8 месяцев назад +2

      Range varies so much from rider to rider due to weight, also terrain, speed, throttle or pedal, pedal assist levels, etc. I've gotten to the point of thinking that the range tests aren't that valid any longer. But overall, the bike has a 15 ah battery so it should be adequate for most people's daily rides. A 20 ah battery would be better for range, but it would add to the weight of the bike and also the downtube would have to be thicker. Overall, I think they made the right choice of keeping it thinner to keep the bike more of a commuter style bike than a heavy off-road type of bike.

    Perhaps future versions will use motors that use helical gears instead of the typical straight gears. They require thrust bearings, but the teeth are stronger due to increased effective length and mesh more smoothly and quietly. The Ride1Up LMT’d V2 motor uses helical (they call them angled, which could mean helical or bevel, but bevel gears don’t make sense in a hub motor application), and it’s much quieter than the previous motor.

    Nice review - I am working through a Euphree dealer in Wisconsin who is setting me set up with this bike w/Tannus and both baskets. Did Russ say the throttle itself has different performance characteristics based on assist level? I thought the throttle acted completely independent from what assist setting, so even in Eco mode you could max the throttle and get full power. Please clarify.

    • @RussIsRight

      I have lost faith in Velotric. Maybe the new bike is ok, but the T1 that I reviewed did not work after the review. The second one they sent didn’t work either. Interesting because I am trying to decide between the exact same two bikes. You seem to get a lot for your money w/ the Discover 2, but I really like the Stellar Falcon as well. The local bike shop I’ve been to highly recommends Veltoric but also says euphree makes great bikes and supports them well. Tough decision. Good luck with whichever you choose.

    • @afshinPROF
      @afshinPROF 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@Jbiglin I guess we're both looking for 750watt commuter e-bikes. Following Russ' advice I might go with the Euphree, but put on some swept back handlebars for comfort. Euphree seems like a good company and worth the few extra dollars.

    • @Jbiglin
      @Jbiglin 9 месяцев назад +3

      @@afshinPROF Yes - it’s a tough choice without being able to ride both. I did speak to Euphree yesterday and I asked them about some of the feedback I’ve seen online about the loud Bafang motor. They told me that it has something to do with a ‘planetary gear’ (or similar term) inside the motor that is louder when new, but after several dozen miles it quiets down considerably. Just thought I’d mention it to you just in case you were concerned about it. I’m leaning towards the Stellar Falcon, but I just wish it wasn’t $600 more than the Discover 2. The guy at Euphree said the Stellar Falcon is selling better than they expected and they don’t plan to run any sales or promotions on it for the foreseeable future, other than offering a free mirror or some other small gift for Memorial Day or 4th of July. I just wish it was closer to $2K.
