I’m hoping they work on a long term deal with Najee over the coming months
When najee is running good we are winning games@@thomasanthony4012
@@thomasanthony4012its not that easy
I think everyone is taking this Fields as a returner thing too seriously. I think Danny Smith was just saying he was a good athlete and COULD return kicks, not that he’s actually going to
Agreed
💯
Anyone who believes that Justin Fields will ever return a kick should never ever be allowed to talk about Ball for the rest of their life
Who ever says he should play q.b shouldn't talk about football for the rest of there lives fields belongs on special teams
Don’t worry, he’ll get injured by tackling a defender after he throws an interception. Yeah 👍 go Justin dude!!
You can’t replace Najee. Dude is a total stud regardless of what situation we put him in
I'm bummed. Harris, the man has character. He's a leader and a level head and he's got a lot of talent.
Why are you bummed? None of this means he won’t sign a long term deal.
@@paladin1726exactly I think a deal gets down.
They are trying to save money for a we trade. They’ll pay Najee when they need to.
NOBODY'S GETTING THE SAME PRODUCTION BEHIND THAT O-LINE LIKE NAJEE #EXTENDNAJEE
Jaylen did
Jaylen also fumbled the ball four times.
Najee had 106 MORE touches than Warren and Warren still had twice as many fumbles.
@@vaporfogg3437 THAT'S CAP AND JAYLEN IS NOT AN EVERY DOWN BACK THAT'S WHY HE WAS UNDRAFTED
In today's NFL it is a proven fact that you need 2 Good RB's. You don't want to wear down your RB1 to the point where he's not effective late in the Season and is injury prone. You Need Both Jaylen and Najee. I doubt if Jaylen can handle a bell cow season. It's not an effective Stragedy.
Najee had 3 straight 1000 Yd season despite a below offensive line and NO Offensive Coordinator. With this Much improved OL, both Najee and Jaylen will get 1000 Yds. Mike Tomlin Loves Najee on and off the Feild. Najee will get an extension 3 Year 24 MIL.
The Steelers have roughly 20 MIL in Cap Space. Cut Holcomb and Herbig will save 8 Mil, then you will have 28 Mil in Cap Space. Go and Sign/Trade for DK Metcalf or Courtland Sutton, Sign Justin Simmons or Stephen Gilmore and Sign Calias Campbell. These additions win the Super Bowl.
I sure hope you're right. Najee has busted his ass for this team and has produced despite a shit offensive scheme!
I SINCERELY HOPE Najee has such A GREAT SEASON that the Steelers pay OVER $7M because of incentives. #Carry the load🏈
Extension $ deal coming, just wait. Probably a 3 year deal in the works.
They’re just trying to save money for when they trade for Brandon Aiyuk 🔥 but Najee 100% earned that option and i hope he remains a Steeler for life
How the guy never was elected to a pro bowl. He was a alternative the year he did go
@@vaporfogg3437 wtf does Pro Bowl have to do with anything? That crap is meaningless
@xConceptz1 but if he went there every year then that would be your argument. And unfortunately that matters when it comes to hall of fame. The ring of fame it doesn't.
@@vaporfogg3437 pro bowl is meaningless and only asses assume stuff like you just did 🤡 what are you smoking??
Aiyuk trade isn’t going to happen anymore.
I don’t expect Kahn to ever intentionally overpay and they gonna solidify QB before RB all day.
He's gonna be running with something to prove. Couldn't get better from a team aspect.
I'm guessing that money is going to fields or Wilson.
They'll draft a new running back.
Najee better ask to be a slash player this year.
First off, we don't know if they have plans of trying to resign him to an extension before the season starts.
Also, we have Warren sharing carries, so maybe they think more highly of Warren than Naj.
Or, they could be thinking that this is a way of motivating him to play his best because he'd be playing for a new contract next year.
It's definitely a bit of a risk, but I trust that Khan has a plan here.
With these new linemen and new OC Najii is gonna ball out 😮
It could mean they value him more they could be thinking long term and I think the biggest mistake of letting a guy go was Mike Hilton
Deke, I don’t agree that by the team not picking up Najee’s 5th year option is saying they don’t care, or he is expendable. Najee has one year left, and I can guarantee if he has another great season, the Steelers will pay him the money he deserves.
Let's see how the offense and the o line perform before we resign any QBs or RBs
It sucks.... but I think, they wanna pay Najee more and that will come with an extension vs the 5 year option.
I apologize for speaking of Pirate problems but I have been a Pittsburgh fan since 1965 and would catch a street car behind St Anne Elementary School in Castle Shannon to watch Pirates at Forbes Field. We have been trash for 30 years so perhaps others might be sharing my frustrations. The Pirates have now crashed after starting fast. Drafting Henry Davis 1st overall even though he was only a top 10 prospect at best. We were told it was smart to spread the money around. At this point Henry Davis, Jack Suwinski, and O'neil Cruz should be sent to AA instructional league for 3 weeks of hitting and a sports psychologist. Then send all 3 to Indianapolis AAA to regain their form. Bring them back at All Star break. If they still fail release them.
The Najee disrespect is insane. Bringing up the SB RBs but let's bring in some context, yeah Pacheco isn't much of the cap but they also have the great Mahomes, reliable Kelce and a lights out defense. They didn't need to rely on Pacheco as much as the Steelers have NEEEDED for Najee to get something started in the run game.
The problem is drafting unimportant positions in the early rounds.
As a general rule, you shouldn't draft any position other than QB ( If you dont have a Franchise one) Tackle, WR, CB and at a push Edge... If you dont have anyone in those positions then trade out.
The other positions simply are not good 1st re value
False
I don't see any chance that they use Fields on kick return. We're not gonna risk getting our backup QB hurt taking kickoffs when we have other guys who are just as capable of returning kicks.
That's not gonna happen.
They probably already have a plan in place for najee and the RB room. Try not to dive too far down the rabbit hole Deke. 😂
This was set in stone the Moment they signed the 32 year old scat RB from the falcons. Najee became expendable at that point
Could this benefit Naj in any way?
What if he goes ballistic, secures himself as the definitive no 1, and gets a rushing record (I know... unrealistic)?
That’s bad for business Deke that has given blood sweat and tears since joining the team
Edmunds played a very important role
He played an important role in an otherwise very underwhelming secondary. Wasn't until Minkah showed up that things started to improve. Edmunds is a underachiever. If he was drafted in the 3rd round maybe not, but for a 1st round pick he's an underachiever.
I'm curious what this means for how Arthur Smith is going to distribute the labor. And speaking of, I don't totally love the Smash & Dash idea because the personnel becomes a tell for the upcoming play. It worked for Carolina with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart because Stewart was faster than Najee. Your smasher also has to be a dasher for it to work
Good stuff
Only thing it means is najee is going to ball out because he wants a big contract with us or in fa 😁. Atleast I hope
Najee, for most of his career, averaged under FOUR-yards-per carry!!! Najee was a first round pick. Jaylen Warren averages more and the Steelers got him off the street UNDRAFTED. Now to put this in perspective, Ezekiel Elliot in his prime averaged over 5-yards-per carry. THAT is what a first rounder is supposed to do, even with Matt Canada as the not-do-good offensive coordinator and the inside line troubles. Now, THIS YEAR, with the interior of the line fixed and no more vilified Matt Canada Najee has no excuse. If he averages 5-yards a carry, THEN sign him to an even better deal. It worked for Muscle Hamster Martin a few years ago. They declined his 5-year and he had a great season and got a big contract. Najee needs to do the same. No more excuses for him, or anyone else on that offense now.
Great show. Thanks, dude.
(edit -- fixed typo)
I think they will give him a 3 year deal for an affordable price.
They're not letting Harris walk. We have the most dynamic running duo in the nfl. They're going to give him a 3-year deal. And it's probably coming in a couple months. They just need to restructure some things to free up some cap space so we can get the rest of our needs this year
They could sign Najee to a 3 year deal this summer. But I do like the RB they picked up from Georgia.
IMO if Najee hadn't had ran to the press and complained about stuff that was going behind the scenes they would have exercised his option. Look at the guys we brought in. This is the first time I have seen an entire draft class have nothing but high character values. Their past coaches love them. Past teammates. I haven't seen anything but guys who are workers and are selfless according to everyone who has spoken to the press. The one place where it historically has been a thorn for us is the WR room. But I have heard nothing but rave reviews of what a class act Roman Wilson is. I really like how Omar is constructing this team. Not just from a talent standpoint, but also from a maturity one. So when you factor in Najee's words and his is so-so production you can see a picture forming as to why. The only time I can ever remember the team ripping up an extension to sign a multiyear deal because the guy outplayed his contract, was Cam Heyward. I have only seen that done one time. But that was all done very quickly. Could Najee be a second recipient? Maybe, but I doubt it.
I think you got it right my friend, well said!!!
We need solid RBs for this heavy run scheme to work out for us
From a business standpoint: you forgot to admit that the o line was not good nor did the PREDICTABLE calls from Matt !
J Warren just said Najee made him better!
Najee earned a contract he became a leader, spoke up and ran hard with o line Pickett and Canada
People just need to stop playing RB. Ruin football. Then they'll get paid they're worth.
It’s honestly a smart move by the Steelers if you actually think about it. Let him prove that he deserves a big contract. If he balls out which I think he will behind our upgraded line the Steelers will pay him what he deserves. If he doesn’t improve or ball out then we’ll let him walk, Jaylen can be rb1 and we can draft a rb round 2 or 3 next year. Also they get to save some money to pay a wr they bring in if they do trade for one. I get why people are upset about this but it’s a smart business move.
I think they will sign him to an extension… they will work on a longer term contract that is more beneficial than a 1 year option
There is a couple other articles that talk a bout this and have a good insight steelers making messing up for this one
Omar hopefully cookin up an extension
Regardless of the devaluing of the running backs. This would be huge mistake letting harris walk
The vibes are winning. Not Najee’s feelings. He’ll feel good with 10mill after a great season
There’s not enough scarcity in the position to warrant more value.
I’ve been a Pittsburgh Steeler fan for over 40 years and the disrespect of players under Mike Tomlin is absurd. We have never had this problem under any of our other head coaches. If I were Najee Harris I would walk into the Pittsburgh Steelers organization and asked to be traded ASAP and if the report is true about Justin Fields he should do the same. And to Mike Tomlin, the Bible tells me you reap what you sow. So the disrespect that you allow under your leadership, be able to accept it when it comes back to you.
Yeah, I’ve watched the Steelers since 79 and never questioned their integrity, until Tomlin came in to the picture. They could’ve released the Bus well before he retired. That’s when they had class!! These kids that follow the game don’t know anything different. But every time I see Tomlin on TV it makes me cringe!! Theirs something missing in the Burgh, and it’s not the players.
He’s gone. Warren is Rb1 and they will get a vet next offseason to handle some load
How much better will Najee be with our O-line improvements?
His production was severely hampered by it in his career with us.
I’ve love Najee since Alabama, but we need the money for a receiver.
Perceived value is a trip, running backs used to be one of the highest paid and now they're superfluous, and it's not all because of the different rules
I also think we'll be fine if we don't get another receiver.
Do you plan on bringing back Big Deke Investments?
Well Deke, you just sold me on the Harris move.
Boyd only realistic free agent wideout left for us
Odell signed a 3 million contract that can go to 8.5 in incentives
How is the 5th year option loyalty? RBs have a short career. Letting him prove it this year so he gets his bag seems like the best deal for Najee. Am I missing something?
I dont think you can replace him
If they offered him an extension and he turned it down, why would they do the option.
Didn't we end up really needing LeGarrette Blount later in that same season?
Not picking up najees 5th year was Omar's first bad move
But to be honest I think this will be another w move in the future maybe they will sign him to a long term deal or have a plan for the future or maybe omar khan is undoing what the former gm has done except for tj and firemuth and the big guys
I like the Kahn, but I hope we didn’t shoot our foot trading Dante without picking up starting receiver and maybe damaging 22 psyche by not renewing him, really think he had terrible line for 2 years and a poor OC and still cranked out 1,000 yard seasons plus he has outstanding work ethic and team leader.
How many more fumbles would Warren have if you gave him another 100 touches? He already fumbled the ball 4 times last year with 149 touches!
I don't think the Steelers are pIcking up ANY 5th year option this year.
Barely getting over 1000 yards in a 17 game season is 58.8 yards/game. Don't feel bad, this is the NFL and how it works. Najee will be fine.
Hopefully we sign Zay Jones hes probably the best option left at wr.
After this 2024 season Najee will show yall, especially with this new line! We need 2 great RBs! They might over pay him in 2025!
Think about give J the RB1 and Naj RB2 people on defense have more energy on 1st 2nd 3rd 4th reps ( if this makes sense )
No, no, no,!! We can not throw players away like that!!!
Bro this is a business nothing personal
Najee ran his mouth over RB pay scale. So why is people surprised over this? He is going demand way more than he is worth. SMH
The standard isnt the standard anymore
I would argue that it is becoming so for the first time in years in 2024. Look at our draft class this year, they are bruisers, and ballers. They are gritty m'er'f'er's.
@patriciajones4206 no im talking about the way they treated najee.. this is why everyone wanted to play for pittsburgh cause they took care of there own if they start treating the loyal players like shit then the standard becomes not the standard
Warren outplayed him
1,000 yds don't really mean the samething over 18 games but I like Harris I wish he would run like a guy his size most the year Warren ran with more power but we will see what happen I think Khan is trying to go all in and it's a cap move to try and get a few more pices
So were just gunna forget Jaylen plays on passing down and najee plays on clear run down. Whats to say you give Jaylen 100 more snaps hes not getting injured? He doesnt have the size to be taking an extra 100 to 150 runs. Theres a higher chance. jaylen starts getting injured the moment his snap count goes up. You dont see small running back be as durable as backs like Henry or Najee or Chubb. Their more prone to getting injured.
We Need Najee 💯
I think that fields thing was a joke
This just means Najee is going to be playing with an even bigger chip on his shoulder than he already has, which is BAD for opposing defenses. I think they're doing this as a "prove it in the new system " deal with an extension coming at the end of next season should he put up another 1000+ yards and stays healthy.
These snap judgments are jumping to conclusions and putting words in the mouths of the organization. None of us know the financial plan or strategy they're executing, so let's pause for a moment.
the steelers literally dont even spend up to the cap . basically arguing over 2M-3M. lets get him for a “team friendly” deal to make everyone happy
Can the Steelers do along term contract with Najee instead of just doing the 5th year option?
A Tyler Boyd a Brandon aiyuk or DK Metcalf are the only three that I would pay anybody money over najee Harris are defense is solid except maybe a safety which if we're saving all of our money and restructuring contracts then you would think we would pick up another receiver core receiver to play outside to make our offense solid our defense solid and then pay najee
Not extending Najee is corporate BS at it's best.
Truly does suck my favorite potion is the running back why I became a steeler fan jerome the bus bettis
We had a 3 headed cancer: Harris, Johnson, and Pickens. The idea was to purge all 3. There will be a trade soon.
Running gaining 1,000 yes is the least a running back can do nothing special especially when teammates didn't vote him a team CAPTAIN
Just saw a rumor that cowboys is trying to trade for najee
Isnt that why people wanted to play for steelers
Have one bell cow doesn’t really work good for long term deals in todays NFL because you would wear them down to much and they probably wouldn’t finish their contract vs the money that would need to be spent to retain them.
I never understood why we let Edmund’s go. He was a good player and sines he left minkah’s been stuck filling the hole he left. And can’t play his game.
Idgaf none of those names on that list would be worth taking over Najee ik dueceduece about to see a nice signing for this coming end of rookie contract
Hopefully the Steelers r working on a cap friendly deal with Harris so that they can resign either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields.
From a LEVERAGE perspective, Najee is in a bad spot.
If you beef up your OL, you don't need a great back. Add to the fact that its a passing league, that backs can be found later in the draft, that they have short careers (wear and tear) = it all points to backs not being valued highly.
Even if he tests the market, he'll have to decide if the amount gained is worth taking to potentially be on a lesser team?
Omar didn’t pick him so……???
I love NH but if we let him go
We can get bell back
But I love NH
Does not mean we will not make a new deal with him. This is $$$ related.
They are going to give him a contract extension. He's too important to the team to let him walk after 4 years.
2% if they took the 5th year option
No man, he’s getting shafted!! Bill Cowher would’ve never treated his players like that!! The only back Tomlin has is his own!!
There going to give it to him when he becomes a free agent
Deke,
You're making this out with Najee to be a lot of things it isn't and likely isn't. As you speak, you make it sound like just because they didn't take the option, he's automatically out for next year. You don't outright say it, but imply it with a lot you say. Secondly and this I don't know absolutely because I don't claim to have any inside knowledge but I do know how the Rooney's have traditionally done business, ESPECIALLY with players that are GOOD FOR THE BRAND, fan favorites. I highly doubt that Najee was completely blindsided with this news. This is the kind of thing an agent is working on. The fact that he was a first round pick as a RB, he's already being paid well on a Rookie deal. I have to wonder if DK is correct, he is reporting that they want to have a new contract for long term by mid summer.
We haven't seen Omar get it wrong yet. Even the players he has let walk. The only one I have argued we should have offered a better offer than we did was Spillaine. And he continued to prove that last year in LV. Outside letting him go, any other players, it has worked out for us. I don't believe that to be the case here but if it happened, the way this off-season has gone. They've got some damn creative script writers this year, hope the season and games match 🤣😂.
