I remember that Doctor Who episode! I always felt so bad for Ashildr, even though I couldn't imagine becoming as cold as she did, even with such a long life and such limited memory space.
I wasn't a huge fan of the episode but that idea of living so long that you've forgotten most of your life and have to rely on diaries to remember things stuck with me. I'm sure it's been used elsewhere but that's the first time I remember seeing something like that.

@@Andrew-li6ie I tend to start somewhere between the years 400-900 in from West Asia to Europa. But I think it comes down to where your historical consciousness resides.

I think you got confused about 'checking' skills and 'marking off' skills somewhere along the line...you keep skills but they are left there 'marked' with a check, that's why it told you to 'Lose an UNCHECKED skill' at one point.
I'm pretty sure you're right, but I still don't quite get the point of "checking" a skill. Once it's checked it fills the slot but is unusable now?
@@Nookrium I don't think it's unusable, I think it just means it is a permanent skill That you have used at least once. (hence why only 'unchecked' was specified)
@@Nookrium No idea if this is still relevant because I just started watching but: It is usable for flavour but unusable for prompts requiring to check a skill. Let's say your vampire has the skill bloodthirsty - loose control. As long as the skill is listed but unchecked, the vampire does not have to do this at all. It's potentially something that can happen, but it hasn't. Then the book tells you to check a skill and you decide to check that one. So in this prompt the vampire HAS to become bloodthirsty and loose control. After this, in any following prompt that don't tell you to check a skill, you can describe the vampire as becoming bloodthirsty and loosing control: This is a part of them now and might happen any time. However, if another prompt asks you to check a skill, you now have to check a different skill, because the same thing can't become part of your vampire twice... it is already part of them.
@@themadowl9224thankyou for this explanation, the skills thing always confused me. So for your example, let's say blood thirsty skill got checked (aka activated) and that the next 3 prompts didn't mention anything about skills at all. Should the resolution of those next 3 prompts contain something about being blood thirsty since that's an "activated" skill? Or can you pick and choose when you want to use an activated skill?
You were no longer a good swimmer when you got the attempted keel haul. (Which, by the way, you get tied up for. SO, he would have fought AS about to be tied up, and then killed the guy and never got sent into the water at all.)
