    I loved watching this. Firstly the price is excellent, secondly the price is the same for all drinks. Also the little titbits are super helpful. Suica card has been of interest, since we first thought of going to Japan. Knowing it's available on Android is really good. The hint about red and blue in the VENDING machines will come in handy, since we will be there Oct/Nov. Is the reason you don't have Diet Coke, because your Coke products have less sugar than other countries, or because of the fake sugar they put in it? Apparently not all cokes are made equal. I can't stand the Coke in Australia, it has a weird taste, that leaves a horrible coating on my tongue. The Coke in Switzerland is really nice, lower in sugar and a very smooth taste.

      Japan doesn’t have a big soda drinking culture. And, yes, sugar free sodas are rare. But they do exist. They have Coke Zero and you’ll see things like Melon Zero. Basically look for カロリーゼロ (calorie zero) or 無糖 (mutoh, which means no sugar) on the bottle. Sugar substitutes at coffee shops may be hard to find, so I recommend bringing some from home. For cold drinks, you could buy some lakanto s (ラカント S) liquid, which they sell in a squeeze bottle.
      As a word of warning, really look for that calorie zero or no sugar wording. We have flavored water in the states, but they’re almost always zero calories. Not so in Japan. That peach water might look good, but it has sugar. Even drinks that are touted as being healthy often have sugar.

    Silly question from someone who's never been to Japan and who's English is a bit rusty in some aspects: Wouldn't you call a sweet carbonated drink with lemon in it a lemonade? Like what differs a Lemon Kirin to for example a Sprite? In a bit of a similar subject:Is a soda athe same as fizzy water or does soda stand for every drink that's carbonated?
    In regards to those vending machines, they look neat and Japan has a bunch of them. The system with that Suika card seems quite practical if you can use it for a majority of things. EDIT: You mentioned your Iphone. That reminds me: Is in Japan Android rather unpopular by any chance? I always see that stores in Japan somehow only ever offer products for Iphone. Like if you look for a cute phone case, places like Pokémon Center and pretty much every other place seem solely offer Iphone specific products.

    • @luxetlex
      @luxetlex 2 года назад +2

      As a native English speaker from the USA, lemonade is not carbonated. I guess you could call a Lemon Kirin a "sparkling lemonade" if you wanted to make it sound fancy, but lemonades are typically pale yellow in color with a bit of cloudiness.
      As for "soda" I would say all sodas are carbonated and sweet, but not all carbonated drinks are soda. (Beer, champagne, carbonated water, and kombucha are a few examples of carbonated drinks that would not be called soda)

    • @MarcMarioMaster
      @MarcMarioMaster 2 года назад

      @@luxetlex Oh, that's something. At my place at least, Fanta often is considered lemonade. Same with Sprite. And all such drinks are carbonated. I never even heard of non-carbonated lemonade so far. People usually complain when their lemonade isn't fizzy.

    • @tdrexplorer
      @tdrexplorer  2 года назад +1

      I'll add to what's already been put here! It depends where you're from. What I can tell in Canada (where I'm from) and the US lemonade is the same where it's a sour flat drink. Sprite is both lemon and lime, where Kirin Lemon is just lemon, so I wouldn't say it's sprite.
      Soda is usually carbonated sweet drinks (including diet drinks). I wouldn't typically call it soda, but I said that here thinking it would be easier to understand? I would usually say "pop" instead of "soda" for carbonated drinks, which is a regional word.
      I don't know the facts about Android but I know that iPhone is quite popular.
