    Some people drive with the drains open to make sure they are truly empty. Also I use a n air compressor to blow out the lines. Also some people feel that's enough to do and no antifreeze is necessary except to pour some into the Grey tank And cassette toilet.

    Hi, very good video. I’m still not completely clear on how to leave the low point drains under the seats. Am I understanding the steps correctly here…
    1st open all valves under the seat to make sure all water is emptied.
    2nd proceed with the antifreeze process.
    3rd close the valves under the seat. Do not leave them open? Is this correct?

      Thank you for the comment. The correct order should be:
      1. Open low point valves to drain water.
      2. Then, close all low point drain valves.
      3. Set nautilus system to Winterize.
      4. Proceed with winterization.

      @@thehealthytraveler yes thank you but that still doesn’t answer my question. After step 4 do I reopen the valves or do I keep them closed until the spring? Thanks again

      Keep the valves closed.
      The only time you open the valves is to drain the water for winterizing.
      Dewinterizing is a different process and valves will still need to remain closed. I will publish a new video for that process soon.

    Thanks for the thorough winterizing video. My wife and I are considering switching from a 4 season travel trailer to the rig you have now. Do you do anything to protect the coach batteries? Some sites recommend removing them to a climate controlled setting and trickle charging. Not sure what is recommended by Winnebago. Thanks in advance for your recommendation.

      Thank you for your comment. I haven't considered and/or haven't had the need to consider keeping the house batteries in a climate-controlled environment since I usually use the van and/or head down to AZ in the winter. With house batteries on my previous travel trailers, I've never stored them, and they seemed to work just fine after winter. However, it wouldn't hurt to keep those puppies safe and warm when not in use.

    I couldn’t see what you turned under the seat and what you mean by, “turn that off”… do you mean close? If so, which way is open and which is closed/off?
    Lichtsinn seems to not turn off the truma switch under the seats while Colonial RV does.
    Otherwise, your video is excellent… would love to see a quick follow-up video on my questions 😊!
    Your video is the best I’ve come across so far! 👏 👏 👏 Now I can winterize my PX!

      Thank you and apologies on the Truma low point drain valves. There are three drain
      valves and a yellow water heater drain valve. You'll open these to drain before winterizing. Once drained, close all of them , then you can winterize. During the video, I was making sure those valves are still off, but I was mentioning that you can open the water heater drain valve to make sure no rv antifreeze is present. Then, close the valve back up. Hope that helps.
      Happy winterizing!

    Also in your closing summary, you say to avoid running the Truma hot water heater while winterized bc that will boil the antifreeze. I'd thought that the winterization setting on the Nautilus bypassed the Truma water heater and did not fill it with antifreeze. Comment? Thanks!

    • @thehealthytraveler
      @thehealthytraveler  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you are correct. The Winterization setting will bypass the Truma Water Heater. However, as a safety pre-caution, I would not turn on the water heater while in winterization mode because 1. it's not needed (there's no more water in the water heater system) and 2. In the event that a small amount of rv antifreeze somehow gets into the truma water heater. Again, these are just pre-cautionary measures, but it's highly unlikely you would need to turn on the water heater in winterization mode, the furnace, yes, but definitely not the water heater. I hope that helps. Thanks again for your comments.

    In your closing summary checklist, you forgot to mention that you also run antifreeze into the toilet flush line.

    • @thehealthytraveler
      @thehealthytraveler  10 месяцев назад

      The toilet flush line would be part of the shower/bath checklist, but yes, you are correct, you will want to make sure you flush the toilet in order to pump rv antifreeze through the toilet flush line.

    Do you turn the Truma switch under the seat back on for heat in the winter?
