I shoot left handed too. For the thumb rest I made my own with some thermoplastic I got off Amazon years ago. I used it many times. I put a thumb rest next to the safety and above the trigger. It's not very sturdy, you can rip it off if needed. So I ended up molding a thin plastic that fits between the grip and frame. Putting it on top of some talon grip also works. Heating up the metal with a hair dryer will drastically make it stick better. It's not the best looking but you can shape it how you want and cover it with grip tape. I've done this with several of my cz metal frame pistols. Just enough so my thumb won't slip off. Hope this helps
Thank you for posting this video! I just recently decided to get into this sport with rimfires more seriously. I'm glad I found you...I look forward to seeing you build up your channel with your wisdom and experience . Liked and subscribed...
Hey James, great video, watched 22Plinkster do one earlier and that gun is stupid accurate. I think the more you shoot that gun the more you’ll realize the great quality. I have a 4.5” Scorpion non threaded that I’ve used in slow fire 50ft and steel challenge and I’ve never shot anything that compares to it, even better than my MKII slabside Competition which I shot for years. Good luck with your new toy.
Great video I have a S&W Victory totally customized best shooting 22 I have. Been thinking about buying a Volquartsen I don’t shoot competition 80 years old just love my 22’s
Thanks for the mag tip! I have the same model and love it. Thinking of another red dot, have the rmr on it now, maybe the new holosun competition that just came. Nice to see another lefty!
Thanks for posting Tony, hard to beat an rmr. I would like to get my hands on the new holosun comp as that is my only complaint about the 507 is the field of view.
17:54 I agree with you on the split frame; it seems kind of chintzy! I don't like it on my Scorpion either; Volquartsen should do what Vudoo is doing with their new pistols and laser weld the two halves together or just make a one-piece frame to give it a better classier look; I would gladly pay extra for a one piece! The gap in the two-piece frame and the attaching screws make the pistol look cheap! 👎🏼
Hello, great video, I'm thinking of getting involved in rimfire steel challenge. I'm trying to find out if they have matches in SE PA. I'm left-handed too and if you put the Picatinny rail on your pistol Tandem Kross just came out with a thumb rest for left-handed shooters that mounts on the rail and Striplin Custom has a left-handed thumb rest but it's for a 22/45 and I'm not sure if it would work on your Scorpion. Thanks again for a great video. Take care.
I own the Volquartsen Momba X upper with the Tandenkross Kraken lower. That is the best of both world. You get the ability to screw the upper down and eliminate the wiggle. shoots like a laser beam .I have the finger rests I believe I picked them up from Tandemkross when I purchased the Kraken lower. I run the SRO on mine , the mount on the upper offers os much flexibility there are three locations to mount the optics rear mid and forward . I also have the mini upper for when I shoot suppressed and it still shoots like a laser beam . But back to the Momba Kraken combo I like the balance and weight of the two pieces united..
I just ordered the Black Mamba X 4.5 upper for my Mark 4 22/45 Lite because I just cannot seem to get any kind of consistent accuracy out of my stock Barrel I'm hoping this will fix it
@@carolinaplinker Hey I think you will love it. Also have you done anything to the trigger? I have a Volquartsen trigger in one of my Mambas. I also have the Tandemkross Kraken lower attached to one of them. Both triggers are nice. I do love the Kraken lower aluminum frame. It is expensive for sure but it sure feels right in the hand. I would love to hear back when you get your Mamba upper . If you're able to locate the Volquartsen bolt for a price you can stomach it is very nice. I have a factory bolt in one and the Volquartsen in the other and the slickness of the Volquartsen bolt is super nice. I have a Tandemkross pull ring on the factory bolt. The Volquartsen bolt is just nice as it is a neat package that slims down the rear of the gun .. That are super proud of the bolts think they went up to over 300 dollars I haven't looked in a while . I have been focusing my dollars on my CZ shadow 2 orange edition. I am dumping my resources there right now.. I also have the Volquartsen Summit rifle in the oryx chassis. Now that is a fun piece as well . I am not a competition shooter so I do not know how well it holds up to Anschuts or Kidd or other manufactures. It is a heavy rig and my bench shooting rig. I am excited for you I think you will love the new Mamba . I would love to hear from you again on your opinion of the new upper..
Great series so far and interesting as I am starting a journey in Steel Challenge. Everything I have seen with Volquartsen is a 1 year warranty but you said lifetime is that because of who you bought it from or something else. I am really contemplating the Victory Performance center and the Black Mamba. Thanks for the content.
Hi Travis, man, I would swear that it said lifetime warranty, but when I went back and you are correct, and it is a one year warranty. Between the two pistols you are looking at, try to get your hands on them as they have a slightly different fit in the hand that will affect your natural point of aim. Both are great and go with what fits you best.
Thanks for checking on the warranty. I can’t find a smith with the hive grips I assume those will change the hold a bit. But it is close to half the price of the Black Mamba. The mamba points pretty well to me. Thank you again for sharing your Journey!
@Travis Weaver I couldn't get the warranty thing out of my head as I knew I remembered reading it. So I went digging through my order, and I ordered the pistol through Buds gun shop, and they do a supplemental lifetime warranty on any guns bought through them so that is where I came up with the lifetime warranty.
@Travis Weaver I really like both, but the Volquartsen is a superior pistol as far as components. I would choose the Volquartsen simply because it fits my nature point of aim better. If the victory fit better, then I would have been pretty happy customizing it. I wish I would have been able to try both, if I had I would have went Volquartsen.
I would say unless you have an exceptional ruger, the Volquartsen is going to be considerably more accurate. My volquartsen can shoot 2-3 times smaller groups with about any ammunition.

Thank you bro 💯 I was stuck between which one to get but this video helped out for sure

I'm glad you found my videos helpful, and thank you for watching and subscribing.
Scorpion frame is much better than the mark IV. I never had difficulty with the mark III system at all.

I just ordered the 4.5 mamba x upperfor my mark 4

I just received a 4.5 scorpion upper for my mark II.

So if you did it all over again would you go straight to Volquartsen or do you still really like the Smith too?
@Travis Weaver I really like both, but the Volquartsen is a superior pistol as far as components. I would choose the Volquartsen simply because it fits my nature point of aim better. Do you think the black mamba x whether it be just the upper or the whole gun Would is more accurate than say a stock mark 4 22/45 lite
I would say unless you have an exceptional ruger, the Volquartsen is going to be considerably more accurate. My volquartsen can shoot 2-3 times smaller groups with about any ammunition.
I've heard a lot of complaints about accuracy with the lite barrel
"smith wasn't holding me back"
*Shoots Volquartsen first time and breaks two of his personal records. lol
MAMBA-TF models have aluminum frame.
