If 20 years ago you would tell someone "the best form of star trek entertainment is watching other people trash talk it" they would laugh in your face
That'd be right after season 1 of ENT, so I probably would have believed that
@@DirkPiddlemark Enterprise wasn't that bad, and was getting pretty good by the end but unfortunately the damage was done and didn't have the ratings to justify continuing the show. I would have liked three more seasons like TNG, DS9, and VOY. The show still had a lot to offer.
@@emperorgizmo3014 i just watched TNG, DS9, VOY, and then ENT, and i liked all of them tbh,but this new trek is something else. The best new trek stuff is lower decks lol, even then the best parts of that show are the references to past shows lol
I would argue Lower Decks is the best form of star trek atm, I am not a huge trekie fan, but the amount of actual attention to lore the show does is pretty great
I'm not so sure, "Enterprise" was airing in 2002 and it wasn't very popular, the entire franchise practically died with Voyager.
7: She's eating lithium ions from batteries to get assimilation metals. Next Scene: Shows Jurati eating car batteries. Not only does she not die from eating Lead and Sulfuric Acid, IT'S NOT EVEN THE SAME KIND OF BATTERY. and that's just a minor rant..
Maybe if she ate a whole Tesla..
@@MrProthall if that happens maybe Musk will offer to buy CBS then so we can get somethign good out of that in the end.
That’s over the top bad… that’s to be expected but the subtle hint at the single change that altered the future is stupid bad… very very stupid. Rewatch the Soong and Agnus lab scene… it will slowly sink in. You might not have noticed but your brain did.
It didn't show the type of car batteries. While I do think this show is trash, if they were electric car batteries it would suffice
@@topclips1872 I don’t think the production could afford several Ford Fusions let alone Chevy Volts to illustrate a focus on consuming lithium-ion.
Never seen a single episode, but I'll gladly watch Joe's reviews on it
Well thats just very dumb of you then isn't it? You allow others to determine the fate of this show because all youve heard about comes from other ppl. Are you ever wondering why "reviewers" like alex dont like most of the shows 80% of time? thats because they look for stuff normal ppl like us dont even notice until specifically is being pointed out. Who knows if "YOU" would end up loving this show despite others very hate torwards it? There must be at least few movies or shows you like that others hate and you're there just wondering why and how come they hate it so much
Me too Patrick. I just giving Joe more views.
Me too. This way I get a synopsis and an entertaining review ad well.
@@fadumankagan997 because I don't have an interest in the show anyways. Yeah, maybe it's better than Joe and crew says it is, but I find them entertaining so I'll watch them. Besides, I don't have Paramount+ to begin with.

Its impressive how bad the writers are.
Normally bad writing is hard to identify but holy hell they set the standard for terrible writing.
Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman should be ashamed of what they made.
Their personalist disorder requires them to be based on shame. Just they are unaware they should feel shame until sane minds explain it to them.
Michael Chabon doesn't care, he is quoted as saying he wrote S1 the way he did to basically troll the loyal fanbase and trigger them.
Kurtzman has been stinking up the entertainment biz for years with his half-baked 'mystery box' nonsense, JJTrek, Bayformers, Amazing Spiderman, The Mummy, he's a pro at trampling established IPs with his shitty writing and story ideas.
Along with 20 executive producers! Wow what a shit show this crap is.
@Eduardo Mendez BINGBINGBING!!! You got it!
The differences between the writing on the nee Star Trek shows and The Orville is SHOCKING. I have NO HOPE for ANY future Trek anymore. It’s an easy fix, but they won’t fix it.
Lower Decks is the best Star Trek since DS9.
@@greenhill004 i would say since voyager, but i do like it plenty
@@youtubeaccount697 Lower Decks is 100 times better than Voyager on it's best bipolar day.

How would the Borg Queen able to eat batteries if she is in a human's body? Wouldn't the host die after the first few bites?
it's not even the same kind of battery! the queen needs Lithium Ion but then she goes and eats lead acid ones from cars omg
@@xian3303 who expects to have logic and science in a Nu Trek show? Batteries go brrr!

I love how everybody deals with the episode differently.
OJ: in visible pain
Alex: dead inside
AJ: NYEH NYEH NYEH NYEH DO A LITTLE DANCE
I'm more and more convinced the line "people are stuck in the past" is some kind of jab to fans saying "this is not Picard, nor it is Star Trek". Like, forget the past, kill it if you have to.
This is like that asshole who did Star Wars 8 going 'Trying something different!'
That's fine, when different is fucking stupid is not fine.
Exactly finally someone smart cos i understood that line just as you did. I like this show very much despite the critics.
@@jsantiago38 As long as we agree this isn't Picard nor Star Trek, I'm fine with you liking it. IMO they should have used some courage, and they should have done theyr own stuff. Even with Patrick Stuart, I don't mind seeing him in other roles not star-trek related.
Ray SOLO
The only reason people are trapped in the past is because the future these wokists present is a dead end.
Picard is supposed to be a show about characters trying to deal with past tragedies. But the writers are too myopic and limited in their experience and ability to tackle such a complex subject. Star Trek has always dealt with trauma and tragedies. Worf's parents were killed by the Romulans, Beverly's husband was killed on an away mission, Sisko's wife was killed by the Borg, Kira was a terrorist, several of Voyager's crew were Maquis, Seven was a Borg, Kim was Kim, etc. But old Trek showed that different people dealt with trauma in different ways, and different kinds of trauma affect people differently. A survivor of war wasn't affected the same way as someone abandoned by their parents. They were dramatic when they needed to be dramatic, but they used tact and subtlety when it was appropriate.
In Discovery and Picard, no one knows how to handle their trauma. Everyone is crippled by it, their lives are consumed by it. It seems like the writers think that trauma impacts everyone the same way, regardless of the type of trauma or the person being affected.
Although, I will say that John de Lancie is great as Q. The writing is terrible but de Lancie's acting is just so good. Imagine how great Q would be if the writers gave him good dialogue.
@The Rotten💯 Or maybe it's just shitty writers who are more focused on the cash, and you shouldn't use it as a soapbox to complain about "kids these days with their rap music" since there are dozens of series that approach mental health with a smarter approach written by that same participation generation.
“Kim was Kim” that literally made me lol
Your explanation of what the Picard show should be about is exactly why it's terrible Trek. Star Trek is never supposed to be about characters. It should always be about philosophy, ideas, and characters are there for sub-plot but not for conflict between themselves. This is what Roddenberry Trek is, and why the new Trek fails.
@The Rotten💯 The two main showrunners for Picard are Alex Kurtzman, who's 48, and Akiva Goldsman, who's 59. They're just terrible writers, it has nothing to do with which generation they're from.
The writers only understand one character, Kim.
I can’t believe how bad this show and current Star Trek are. They need to get new writers who actually care about Star Trek. I’ll seriously take episodes that are as good as bottom tier episodes of classic Trek at this point.
It's what happens when you hire woke writers
We are in a timeline where ST Enterprise Season 5 didn't exist
I'll watch first season of Enterprise over this mess.
Last I checked the recent films from the past few decades weren’t that bad and both Lower Decks and Prodigy were pretty decent shows on Paramount Polly’s. So current Star Trek’s not entirely THAT BAD. I would suggest not judging the whole thing because of one poorly done show.😑
@@aqmohra4 Unfortunately it’s just the trend in Hollywood at the moment. Just give it time and it will be flushed like the turd it is.
As soon as they released a trailer for next season DURING this season, you knew this show had no hope. I've never heard of that ever happening in a major network TV show.
They are truly pioneers..
Yeah. They just totally shit the bed with this one.
Well yeah most TV shows don't film 2 seasons at once out of fear the main actor dies of old age
I think it happened with Batwoman, which is also a top notch dumpsterfire of extraordinary proportions.
It’s either desperation or bravado
I’m just enjoying the fireworks
I'm newer to star trek myself. Started watching TNG a year ago and finished it in a month. I loved it so much. Then I heard about Picard and all I could think was 'wow, what perfect timing'. The show honestly makes me sad. It feels like I just found Star Trek and it's already over. I watched Deep Space Nine next. I have Voyager and I think a couple others. And then it's over. THIS is Star Trek now. And that's sad.
Well done for paying enough attention to the old shows that you could quote Gul Dukat's "and that's sad" line. :)
When I was a kid, I remember arguments about which was better: Star Wars or Star Trek, despite them being virtually nothing alike. Who knew the common ground we’d all end up sharing would be when modern day writers and even our own heroes would turn against us or be killed off in favor a “newer, better” version.
Two quotes from Mr Plinkett:
"Star Trek Picard is the most disappointing thing since Star Trek Discovery"
"Star Trek Picard is neither Star Trek nor Picard."
Both of which are correct.
We need another Mr. Plinket review.
star trek discovery was disappointing
@@Marinealver They're doing reviews on new Picard - it's hilarious and sad at the same time XD
Seeing these guys with just regular tees just means that they have given up on the show. It’s tragic as they had high hopes for the series and kept on their star enterprise uniforms. But time and time as Star Trek has gone downhill it’s a clear sign that Joe, OJ, and Alex are done playing nice.
They took em off last review I believe
The shirts came off last review and to be honest, they have never really been nice to this show.
Man I don't want to sound mean but OJ needs to do a better job at collecting his thoughts and speaking clearly. Most of the time he sounds like a child who doesn't fully understand something when he speaks.
Star Trek was about hope, a bright future for humanity. This nonsense has nothing of that. It's morals are terrible, the society is very different from TNG, it's trash. The writing is so bad, they ignore what Star Trek was meant to be and they ignore the world building.
Great review.
Its because the writers don't have any hope. They only can make things worse.
Because that’s what wokeness is, a dystopian ideology specifically created to undermine everything beautiful. The destruction of all beloved media is deliberately designed to demoralize us before the Great Reset.
Even DS9 Pale Moon Light, dear god the entire episode was literally bearing his soul about every step he took towards the road to hell. He knew he lied to himself about each one of those steps. Then deleting the entire log entry leaving the audience to make judgement on whether or not his sins were justified. Dear gawd what happened to good Trek!!!
they just try to be dystopian like blade runner. But even both blade runner movies had a hopefull message and endings
It was different for the different shows. TNG was about technology being great but also possibly a grave danger (Borg), but overall that humanity will overcome and can grow. Voyager was about overcoming xenophobia and also adaptablity to a rapidly changing 'landscape' of culture and so on.. This show is about "We went back in time, fucked evdrything up, also Picard old.
AJ, OJ, and Alex reached Mike Stoklasa and Rich Evans levels of Star Trek depression
Alex is always so concise and witty with his disgust, I love it
It's funny because I think at first, most people (including myself) were like Who TF is this Alex guy!?! But time has proven that he really is a perfect additional to the show.
The way you know the writers think viewers are stupid is when Rios in this episode tells the doctor something along the lines of "The ship is in diagnostic mode looking for Borg subroutines" and the doctor looks at him as if he just said a bunch of incomprehensible gibberish.
It's as if the writers think the doctor character is from the 1800s and has no basic concept of what computers are or what the words "diagnostic" or "subroutine" might mean.
They are supposed to be in the year 2024. The only part of that she would not understand is "Borg", but your average person would still grasp the general idea of what he is saying.
Then on the other hand you have technology that is way beyond 2024, like the flying drones that project a UV shield and the completely nonsensical bio-security at the NASA event.
It's completely bizarre.
lol, I hate it when there's the 'talk English, dammit!' line in a show. It makes literally everybody look stupid.
If I used the word "subroutines" at a typical job... I'd get looked at like I'm an expert.
People really are that dumb. We cannot even define what a Woman is anymore.
We are really. that. dumb.
@@MsLuckoftheDraw TALK ENGLISH......8-12 year old me watching Stargate or Star Trek going err it makes sense to me buddy.
Hate to burst your bubble, but the *average Joe* would (and does) not know what a "subroutine" is. Even "diagnostic mode" is incomprehensible… people understand both words, but not the combination. Ask average people. So, not people in your bubble. Random strangers on some city street (or random people on some village street, the remoter the better :D)
I know exactly what you're talking about Joe, with the music overpowering the scene. Like the music was written for an important moment but that important moment just doesn't exist in the story lol. They just forgot to write the climax but the music for it is playing anyways.
I can't think of an example right now but I know exactly what he's talking about
I miss the OG music and themes from TNG, DS9 and Voyager; they had a feel about them that just sung Star Trek. As a professional musician who makes an income solely from teaching and playing music, I find Discovery and Picard's soundtracks to be boring and uninspiring. Another example of these current shows having no grounding in the source material and the particular aesthetics that made Star Trek what it was.
Didn't Destiny 2 do something like that?
I've noticed that happening a lot in video games, I think I remember in anthem it would be playing like some epic battle music while you fought just regular old common enemy types during a story moment, but the music is acting like its some ultimate battle against an overwhelming foe.
music for a non existant climax - westworld season 2. at the end of the 7th episode they played beethoven's 7th symphony (geddit? 'cause it's the 7th episode...) as some antagonists we've had for about 3-4 episodes get killed by the hosts. not even the hosts breaking out of the park and terrorising the world at large, just them wiping out some damage control pmcs that had a habit of wrestling robots when they ran out of ammo. there were still several episodes left in the season and they made it as if it was the biggest thing in the world
Imagine going from 'Scott Pilgrim vs the World' to eating car batteries in this dumpster fire. I feel for this lady.
How did everybody on set think that was an acceptable scene?
@@Argornash money 💰 🤑 💸

I'm just gonna say it shes got amazing jugs too I mean she should just go full Seven of Nine in Voyager if she becomes Borg Queen. Wear a tight fitting cyberpunk bustier shirt and make everyone her slave.
Patrick Stewart being part of this and totally onboard with this is what really hurts. At least Mark Hamill came out and said how they did Star Wars was wrong.
I think Carrie Fisher hated what they were doing but sadly we will never get to hear what she really thought.
Maybe it's time to accept that Stewart's getting old. :(
also Jeri Ryan..
Patrick Stewart, despite how great he was as the original Picard in TNG, actually didn't like playing the character. I'm pretty sure he (the actor) doesn't understand nor like Star Trek, so I'm not surprised he's on board with this dumpster fire. He's partly to blame.
They're systematically destroying Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future
How do these bad shows keep getting made? Are people afraid to offer criticism anymore? How are these writers with no talent trusted to write for these high budget shows?
Quota based and Check box based hiring practices. This is what you get when the crazies run the show.
This is why they went to streaming. No need to have ratings that matter or public opinion to be considered....just put out whatever shlock you want and the entire streaming service is all but a money laundering operation anyways. Note they won't release ratings, viewer numbers, or subscriber count from month to month?
Because it all sucks, I'm sure. But it doesn't matter. There's an agenda here, and that's what it's truly about. Because it's not making money.

I grew up on Star Trek and it helped shape many of my better world views but had it been this Kurtzman stuff instead? I'd never have cared and just found something else watch. When the world needed a better world with humanity at its best and full of hope. Kurtzman and his team removed it all from the series.
Just it truly hurts me. I remember sharing ToS with my dad who liked old shows. TNG was the show we had pizza nights to watch and DS9 was the one shared with my brother in debates. While Voyager since we didn't have cable was the one my aunt taped and gave us to enjoy. Same here. I grew up in a ghetto part of town that hope was a luxury in the 80's and 90's. I remember watching all the Star Trek Franchises growing up and how it gave me hope for a better future. It pushed me into getting into engineering and philosophy rather than selling drugs and getting into gangs like my friends ended up. Seeing an optimistic future is quite powerful for a young mind.

The Raffi/7 alley scene is the worst for me because we finally get a confrontation with the Borg Queen, I think maybe we’re finally going to see some Star Trek, and then after she knocks them down they just let her go. They sit on the hood of a car, two feet from a dead body and talk about their relationship (all while the Borg Queen is still at large and getting away). It sucks all the energy and urgency out of the scene and any goodwill I had towards their relationship (which was already not very well done) disappeared.
Hahahahahaha what better place to have a deep conversation
Then right next to a dead body lol
What sent me over the edge in this episode was when Guinan says she can't wait to meet him in the future, yet they have already met in the past when they were hanging out with Mark Twain :/

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but they *know* this gutter-trash doesn't sell, yet they keep making it one after another. They make their money back on these as well. I think the whole point is that "divide and conquer" or some illuminati bs because there's no other explanation left.
The TNG blu ray box set was worth it. Shame ds9 is only on dvd but it works. The 4K original 4 movies box set was also impressive, awesome remaster.
Yeap picked up the series for all of them for a discount sale on the iTunes Store. A lot of still holds up after all this time which was very surprising to me. Patrick Stewart is very much to blame as well. A lot of this shit was his idea from the start.
This isn't the prime timeline. Proof: Picard's brother doesn't exist and Guinan has never met Picard before in 1890's in "Time's arrow"
They did make an offhanded comment about Picard's brother being in boarding school. But the whole thing with Picard's parents make no sense because it was shown that both of his parents lived to old age. It just makes no sense that Picard wouldn't know about his mother's mental illness. Picard has a picture of his mother where she looked like she was in her 70's or 80's, so she probably didn't die until Picard was in his 40's. And she never had any problems with her mental health after that one incident and they never talked about her mental health during all that time? Especially it's the 24th century where they have the technology to easily keep track of hereditary health issues. Starfleet would have checked Picard's health and family history for mental illness.
When you're talking about music not matching content I immediately get PTSD from Dark Knight Rises. The entire time Hans is bumping away that overwhelming Inception inspired soundtrack while Bane is mumbling about something incoherently, Batman is barking at someone, generals are staring at screens mouth agape while nothing is actually happening. It was all so comedic visually but the soundtrack was trying to tell me "This is some seriously epic shit bro. How tense are you? You're so fucking tense right now." It was jarring and made the movie even funnier imo.

Not a Star Trek hater. In fact I’m just old enough to have watched TNG when it was originally airing.
But this show is just so goddamn difficult to watch. From the pacing, to the plot, to some of the weird story elements they choose to focus on its all been a slog. I haven’t even watched ep 8 yet. Fuck, I haven’t watched anything past ep 4.
Plus, is it just me, or does Patrick Stewart seem to be acting in another show complete and separate from the rest of the cast?
A 1 out of 10, wow, it's been a little while since we've had one of those.
I have a feeling we might see the first-ever negative scored (-1) review by the time this season is wrapped up
@@pinewolfpresents Well said my friend..totally agree 👍
Honestly the animated show where Kirk fights a Mayflower pilgrim guy with magic to save Satan is more Star Trek than Picard S2
'as you can see we're no longer wearing our uniforms' LMAO 😂. Angry Joe's disappointed voice will never fail to make me laugh
Lmao🤣
My teenage daughters hate the show and think it's ridiculous and stupid and boring, my older daughters from my first marriage, who grew up watching TNG, Voyager, DS9, and are in their 30s, loath this show. They think Raffi is a disgrace and say she would never be a Star Fleet Officer because she's unprofessional and narcissistic. Pretty much sums things up. Who is this show aimed at?
Forget about being a Starfleet officer. Raffi would never be a human from this time since we are supposed to be evolved, and beyond those kinds of attributes. Humans look out for others, and not just themselves in Star Trek.
It's not just Star Trek, the crime being committed by all these shows with 6-10 episode seasons is that they try to take a single story that's maybe 2 hours at best and stretch it out over 12 hours. The actual story becomes so diluted we don't care, and the filler material is rarely connected to the main story so it's pointless. Who is allowing this type of storytelling?
I'm so glad I got out of new Star Trek back in season 2 of Discovery. I thought it was shit from the beginning but I had a perverse interest in seeing how bad it could get.
However the episode where a spore derived hallucinogenic best friend of Tilly shows up and the gay doctor brings back his dead boyfriend from an alternate spore dimension were exquisite WTFs.
That episode in particular made me realise that I just couldn't put myself through this bullshit any more. It was just so painfully bad! There was also the fact that I was also watching it because I thought my partner wanted to watch it, but at the end of the episode she made it clear that she was only watching it because she thought I wanted to watch it! Lol!
Season 2 of Discovery was the best season of live action modern Trek. It was entertaining. Season 3 was beyond stupid and clearly written by people who never watched a damn episode of Star Trek.
The moment the alien dude gave birth to babies was the most woke thing I ever seen in discovery season 1 and I never watched it again lol was so creeped out
DS9 was as dark as star trek should be. The point is the values of the future federation of logic and idealism are more valuable than immediate results. These people would wash out of the academy.
The writing this season wasn't even done by the show runners, it's like they're just phoning it in. Most of the writing seems to have been done by inexperienced mostly female writers, who don't even have a wikipedia page. For at least one of them, this is the first show she's ever written for.
But diversity is our strength LMFAO
Wait, why does it matter what gender they are? The keyword here is "Inexperienced," not "Female."
@@SteelWithIt very true. What matters is that they are inexperienced not there gender. I think the point he is trying to make is that they were hired for there gender not there experience.

Who ?
Nah bruh LOTR is the line. Trek has never been consistently great in any of the franchises, only intermittently and hasn't done anything really good since S6 DS9.
@@DirkPiddlemark Trek has been consistently good enough to influence western culture and social lexicon and still be talked about years after it was made. It’s just modern trek where the line should be drawn. With 24 episodes a season you are bound to have filler episodes so maybe you are being unrealistic.

This show is either amazing, or pure nonsense.
If it tries to accurately depict how future people will become more and more stupid, including making sure that Picard's age comes hand in hand with dementia, then the show is brilliant!
If they actually think that this is really good, disregarding the dementia factor, then there are no words for it.
I don't know what's scarier. The thought that actual self-responsible adults wrote the script (in crayon, presumably) ... or once the script was written, some other self-responsible adult said "Yes, that's exactly what Star Trek is. That's what we want!".
Has Joe ever given a 0/10 rating? Is that even a thing, or does he only have a 1-10 scale?
Does it matter
it's only a 1 to 10 scale
He only has a 1-10 scale. But I imagine if he could give zeroes to some things, this episode and series would be one of them.
He's said that he does have a 0/10 on the scale but it's only in extreme cases for shit that just doesn't work. Like if a bad $60 game was literally made to not start up than it's 0/10 on his scale.
The only 0/10 we've ever gotten was in the review for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. He gives it a 1 in the review but I think he brings it down to 0 in the spoilers video lol

Alex was spot on about the transporters. It wasn't even the Vulcans who invented the transporter, it was Dr Erickson.
Theres an entire episode dedicated to him in Star Trek: Enterprise, played by Bill Cobbs.
The first few seasons of Enterprise, is no one wanting to use the transporters because theyre new and unfounded.
The Daedalus episode is when Dr Erickson comes on board to test out "new transporter technology for sub-quantum teleportation" under the guise that its to increase the range of the transporters, when in reality there was a transporter accident many years before and his son was "scrambled" and its about him trying to get his son back.
At least they stuck to the fact that the Vulcans in lore *were* often doing secret survey missions to Earth before Zefram Cochrane discovered warp technology and first contact was made in the late 21st century.
They weren't progrerssive enough in TNG. Patrick Stewart and especially Kurtzman is trying to "fix" it in this and just managed to make everyone hate Star Trek (Discovery is terrible too). Star Wars was almost already ruined too (still might be)
Yeah its nuts that people call TNG woke or progressive. That isnt the case at all. They dealth with normal issues by presenting different perspectives to issues in sci fi ways. This show is woke in that it ONLY presents one side of an issue and presents the other side as evil. Woke af lol.

This just goes to show how none of these people can capture what made these shows and characters great. Everyone keeps thinking they are going to write the next best chapter of a great story but are lacking the skills of real thinking people. The actors they bring back are not the same people they once were and everything else is a cash grab. This seems to be the mainstream modern cinema we are stuck with at the moment. Wet farts splattered on a canvas and called art.😔
Great story? Huh?
In order to be real "canon", you must put some actual Star Trek in your Star Trek show 1st. It doesn't matter what creators claim, time is the most important test that matters. This dumpster fire will be forgotten and dismissed very quickly and it doesn't matter how many more they plan to make in the future.
Some will probably claim that people hated on Voyager and Enterprise. Enterprise was kind jarring (starting with the never-before "song with lyrics as title theme"), but it was so much more Star Trek (I came to accept the "song with lyrics as title theme" because it fit the setting) than this. Voyager even more so.
Q didn’t realize he was dying until he lost his powers. So we still don’t know what his motivation was for doing any of this in the first place.
Star Trek has NEVER been scared to addressing politics, but they ALWAYS used to approach it with grace and nuance which makes this new Trek feel so much worse.
Trek didn't so much addressed politics as it explored societal human issues and human nature and tie them to timeless ideas. This......isn't addressing politics, it's college freshmen tweets level protestism. Maybe even high school level.
The most shocking part about this was that everyone had hoped that it would be good.
Remember how we got here. Voyager ends, they give you Enterprise (which was a little rushed and didn't overlap), then you got discovery, which is bad, very bad. Why would you think Picard could save it, when he was only one of many, good detailed and likeable characters.
The 2009+ Jar Jar movies started this spiral.
@@badlaamaurukehu you mean Jar Jar Abrams 😆😆
Why is it that so many modern stories feel the need to be so bloated with doom and gloom. This show just want to show how bad everything is and turn it to 11, instead of giving hope like nearly every other piece of star trek media tries to do.
Because now all series has to be game of thrones... you know, it was successfull, so his formula is right for whatever else! Makes sense.
Because it's the current thing and mindless sheep need to consoom the worst and most degenerate content possible.
I clicked expecting immediate screaming but Joe just sounds so defeated 😂
No thank you. Discovery and this show don't exist in my mind.
Wow, joe sounds so defeated at the beginning. This must have been so bad it went to the point where he raged in previous eps, to sounding depressed due to the show carrying on being this bad.

Fire in background still, not wearing star trek uniforms, and the season 2 of Star Trek Picard not getting better at all and continue to be garbage. Yupp just as I figured and I don't think it will change anytime soon.
This is no longer Star Trek.
This show existing is the perfect representation of the shallow, cynical, vapid, self-obsessed, virtue-signalling, faux-enlightened time we live in. Especially when you see that despite being such blatant garbage completely disconnected from its source material it still sports a 93% critic approval rating on RT, with praises that "it finally captures the classical Star Trek spirit". What a joke.
That says more about professional critics than society as a whole, as you'll note that the regular viewers rate it at 33%.
@@VolrinSeth Note that as time has gone on, the "professional" reviews and the viewer reviews have become more and more diametrically opposed?

The r/StarTrek does not allow dissent, they will delete any comments negative about Star Trek. I'm also finding that the high majority of new fans are middle aged liberal women, they just discovered ST ovewr the pandemic and seem to want to lecture everyone about themes played out 25 years ago

Don't worry, just cleanse yourself by seeing The Northman and Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent this weekend!!
I think the only reason they thought of revolving the entire show around a character as loveable as Picard is because they could bank off of his appearance alone, no work required
How wrong they were
The only thing most these shows care about is how many homosexual mixed relationships that they can string together . The only roll for white guys is being the bad guy . And Piccard is a lousy white character !
The scene where Picard and Guinan are sitting at the interrogation table, dead silent, looking bored as f**k pretty much sums up my feelings about this entire series.
I've just started rewatching tng again and the difference between this classic and ST Picard is light years apart. I DO NOT regard any of these new star treks as canon at all!
Let’s face it Picard did this show for the MONEEEEYYYYYYYYY
It's not about the money its about the message. All these corporations are pushing forward with their woke crusades despite the massive losses they are taking, both financially and , in Disney's case, politically. They are doing it because they want to keep pressing forward in the culture war. To them, the ends justify the means.
I can’t bare to watch Picard anymore. I grew up watching The Next Generation so watching this, frankly bastardised version of Picard, feels like watching the decline of a close family member.
