Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I was always under the impression that you should always be in “low” gear if just putting around or hauling or in your case using a plow? I was told that high gear should only be used if you truly need to go faster. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. I was told that by doing this you will help keep the belt/transmission to last longer. P.S. thank you very much for sharing the video. It’s very informative.
Hey there! Thanks for watching and for your comments. You’re absolutely right. You’ll note that in the video I comment that I’m in high gear as there is only a couple of inches and I want the speed for momentum to push it up over the snow mound. I am 90% in low for plowing, slow rolling or chores. There are two reasons for this that I’m aware of. There may be others, but these are the two I’m aware of. To avoid burning up your belt. I’ve never burned one in this machine but I always carry a spare. They are easy to change and if you burn one, you are completely stuck where you are unless you have a spare. The other reason, I learned shortly after using the machine. I installed a stereo and after a while, whenever I’d operate the plow (put load on the battery) the stereo would trip and reset. I found out that because there is no alternator, only a stater, your battery isn’t recharging like other vehicles. I now put a trickle charger on it every other month or so and the issue is dead. Hope that helps.
thanks. I am looking for an alternative to my quad for plowing. After 20 plus years I am getting a bit tired of the cold and thinking it is time for an enclosed side-by-side. Was a little surprised you didn't have more options for plows though. The lack of plow "packages" is one of my biggest frustrations. Its probably a good business model for the dealers but stinks from a consumer stand point. Like the can-am product line but not sure about the plow option but you have definitely provided useful information.
Hey Bryan! Thanks for the view and post. I'm with you on being surprised about the lack of options from a plow perspective. Blowers are even more limited. I did look at SnowEx and from what I saw they have a great competing product. It might be silly but unless I see a produce that is significantly better or a greater value, I prefer OEM on tools as significant as these as they are designed specifically for the machine. Where as after market are designed in general and adapted for machine fitting. That's only a personal preference. There are a couple of good videos on RUclips with the SnowEx and a Defender. And while I went Deferred after hainvg had a Ranger in the Polaris line up for more than a decade, it was a close race for me, with a slight lean in value for the dollar on the Defender. I'd love to hear where you land.
I ordered them from Amazon and am trying to paste the link but it looks like they are no longer on Amazon. Here is the description from my Amazon invoice. Auxbeam H11 H9 H8 LED Bulbs, 2024 Q30 Series LED Headlight Bulb, 110W 24000LM Wireless LED Light Bulb, High/Low Forward Light with 7x Brightness 5x
It looks like they just moved from selling a pack of two to selling all four. You need all four. I just used mine for the first time, not too deep of snow but enough. I feel like the skid shoes are a bit too high. I tried adjusting to get a more closer scrape to the concrete/asphalt. From the looks of your video it's about the same as what i was seeing. Thoughts? I'm newbie so trying to figure it out. Should I just adjust the bolts on the shoes or leave it so i don't damage the driveway or plow. Thanks for the video
Hey Mike! Fun to use a new toy, but if you're like me, I get exited to use it and get a little disappointed forgetting that I need to acclimate to the new tool a bit. Much happier now that I've gotten used to how it works. I put the poly blade on mine which I than adjust the shoes so that they are just a slight higher than the blade so the blade will scrape. Still fine tuning. I need to post an update video today as I broke that lever that the winch attaches to but learned how it's supposed to work. You may have already figured that out. But when I do the video, I'll be sure to get a shot of my shoes in relation to the blade.
I guess my question is which one would you like better if the Polaris was in closed cab and both the same year ? I am thinking about getting one just not sure which is better !
I don't think you can go wrong with either. I love mine and since the video post, my buddy that I sold the Ranger to for his ranch, has also acquired a North Star edition Ranger Crew. Posting the same response here twice. But having spent time in his and mine, I have no regrets, but I wouldn't regret a Ranger either. Both are incredible and the creature comforts now a days are amazing. Although the prices are now beyond ridiculous too.

@ thanks for the feedback! Great to know about the radio and it tripping out being that is the next thing I’m installing in mine as well. 👍🏼

Did you look at SnowEx products? I am guessing they are pretty proud of their products but they have some decent features.

@@EdenToyBarn great thanks!
With winch control being on toggle they added, does the factory winch switch still function?
Yes, no impact to the OEM winch toggle switch.

Thank you, Sir! I'll be sure to be careful where the winch attaches when raising the plow. @@EdenToyBarn

Baffles my mind that you loved the Polaris and you switched brands. Makes no sense.
