Its so sad that due to the recent Covid Pandemic of 2020, we in my parish in UK are no longer offered The Chalice at Mass. We haven't gone back to decide for ourselves whether to accept the Chalice or not.

Thanks, this helps so much in understanding what the blood covenant means regarding the Eucharist. I was most struck by the terms of the blood covenant as far as the people go. Their response is profound. (May this happen to me or worse if I do not keep my end of the agreement.) WOW. What a dramatic emphasis on eternal consequence. and the cost of following Christ. You made it so black and white no shade. It is not just, an off-handed idea that Christ died for you, and that is why we go to Church and take Communion. End of story... I knew this of course, intellectually. It is 2024 and we don't have an understanding, nor do we have a concept of what a sacrifice is much less a human one. We have an extremely difficult time imagining a loving God allowing His only Son to be tortured and killed supposedly for us. What does that mean? I am being rhetorical. We do not get it, in this age. Blood sacrifice isn't part of our mindset unless one is a Satanist. Recently, I have found myself working with many folks who are in the occult, witchcraft, and Satanism who have this frame of reference. The sacrifice concept, is lost on much of this generation and it is often the topic of conversation between non-Christians and Christians, at least in my experience. Thank you. Now it makes more sense why Catholics are cautioned not to part-take of the Eucharist causally, or why non-Catholics can not take communion in a Catholic Church but a Catholic can go to any other church and receive communion without question. This for me, puts a whole new understanding of the difference between the Protestant idea of juice and crackers and the Eucharist. What a world of difference! I wish I had heard this, like you just framed it, years ago. Your talk was very relatable and the simple way you explained it will make it easier for me to discuss and explain to my non-Catholic friends and clients. Sometimes Catholics don't realize that the terms Catholics, especially religious, often use, aren't always so understandable to none Catholics. I live in a world that is mostly Protestant and /or uses Protestant terms and concepts. I know I only focused on one part of what you were saying. There are so many trails I could go down for discussion, but this was a specific answer to prayer.
