    Yes please, make a video rebuilding this Throttle actuator. It would be nice to know where you can get the new plastic gears . . . Thanks in advance.

    Mine went wrong at 76K , fixed and fitted by a company called rebuild in Gravesend uk ..,around £650 🇬🇧😎👍

      Nice 🇬🇧 It seems they seem to need replacing around 70,000-100,000 Miles 👍

      @@MTechGuy I think mine went around 120k miles.... This was the original one that hadn't been replaced... The other had been replaced with an '08 year some time in the cars lifetime
      Had mine refurbished via rebuild also and installed myself a few years ago... No recurring issues

      Nice, I’ve heard the gear quality of the rebuild ones are pretty good. The other original throttle actuator on my car must have been done between approx. 60,000-70,000 miles when it failed. Judging by what a lot of owners have experienced, if one fails you might as well do them as a pair

    mine went pop at 96k miles. did the rebuild myself with the odometer kit. super simple if ya got the aptitude for it. the odometer kit is still some kind of plastic but a much beefier compound. the trickier thing is if the mosfets go... at least in USA the manufacture stopped making the specific part so you either order from overseas, get a mosfet with the same specs and modify it to fit the board, or do as I did and order a junkyard unit and steal the parts off that board.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for sharing. It’s inevitable the gears will eventually fail. The mosfets are still available overseas, it can be a tricky job replacing them on the board. Sounds like you got lucky with a good used one. How did you find the odometer gears? I hear the early ones didn’t mesh well?

    • @zeox2623
      @zeox2623 2 года назад +1

      @M Tech Guy i bought my gear set off fcpeuro. not sure if they operate outside the US though. iv seen guys overseas on m5board do the diy so im sure they are available somewhere if not fcp. cant say iv heard anything about the early versions, but iv got a few thousand on my set already and no issues. the mosfet thing is deffinatly not what id call a beginner job. id have no qualms about doing it but fortunatly i didnt need to actually swap mosfets, just the board off the used actuator.

      I got my replacement throttle actuator I recently fitted from FCP Euro 👍 Might have to utilise the lifetime warranty if (when!) it fails

      @@MTechGuy when you basically only drive bmw and work on your own stuff fcpeuro is the only way to go in most cases i find. iv had people i talk to looking at german cars they never did before once they heard about their lifetime garuntee even on consumables. 😆

      @Zeox Sorry, not the odometer gear brand not meshing well, I was thinking of another brand with the brass components. I plan on using the odometer gear ones 👍

      @@MTechGuy much more common than the rod bearings, and the price for the actuators haven't even come down and or no permanent fix...i think it starts to fail from the rod outside the actuator that thing needs to be lubricated and or maintained aswell

    I'd be interested to open them up and see what state they were in.
