    to prevent paint from seeping under the vinyl...1st coat should be the same as the background, then continue with the paint color you want to use for additional layers.

      @@Expressionsvinyls using something like Mod Podge as your "first coat" works well when you are applying over stained wood. I use a lot of wood scraps that are anywhere from fairly new to 80 years old that we have laying around our barn. I love the idea of using the base coat color as first coat when I can but the Mod Podge is a game changer when I don't want to alter the color of the wood.

    I've been watching videos, trying to find one on how to make a stencil for paint, for two days. I've been down so many rabbit holes I now know I don't want to make DFTs, screen printing is a pain, and sublimation sounds cool for mugs and tumblers. This is finally a video that makes sense of it.

    Good morning Jessica, thank you for sharing your beautiful creation. I truly enjoyed watching you create that beautiful wood design, and learned a lot from it. I have a question, I just received my Silhouette Cameo 4 Plus and wanted to create some stencils for glass etching. I've been looking every where to see what is the best adhesive paper/material to use, but haven't been able to find the right item and I don't want to use the wrong one for my project. Would you be able to guide me to what type of papers are needed for different project, more specifically, for glass etching.

    Hello! I loved your project and the instructions in your video! I am currently trying to make a stencil using my Curio and am having some difficulties, to the point of wanting to throw in the towel. My project is much smaller and I am having trouble keeping the middle of letters in my stencil. My phrase is "Beach Therapy" The font I have chosen has centers in the "B", "e", "a" "p" and the bottom loop of the "y". Other tutorials say to make a small cut in the letters, but when I do that I can't remove the letter from the stencil. I have no idea if that makes sense.... Anyway, is there a trick to getting the letters out, but keeping the middle in? I wish I could show a picture to better explain, but hopefully you can help me. Thanks!!

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад

      Hi, yes, you can do that as an option as well. If you have the paper backed transfer tape then you would just cut it like normal. If you don't have the paper backing then you would just need to make sure you are able to peel it away from the mat without ruining you design.

    I watched your video and it is very helpful. I have a question. You mentioned that the permanent vinyl is not "permanent" since it is used for just a short period of time during the painting of the stencil . Instead of using transfer tape, could I just the permanent vinyl, cut out my stencil, stick the vinyl on my wood, paint the letters, and then lift it up. It seems like it would be easier. I just wonder if I am misunderstanding something in the process? Thanks.

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад

      The transfer tape is so that you are able to move the image over to your project. This way if you are doing letters all of the letter pieces can be transferred at the same time.

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  4 года назад

      Hi Angelica, it depends on the size of your image. If you want it larger than what the Cricut will typically cut then you will need to do a few different things. IF your image will fit and cut on your Silhouette then there isn't anything additional you would need to do with it.

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  6 лет назад

      Hi, depending on how small it is, you would just cut it out and then apply the vinyl/stencil material. Once you have it down, carefully paint each section the two different colors that you want. Another way you could do it is just cut out the inside that you are wanting red. Apply that vinyl and paint that color. Peel the vinyl off and allow to dry. Then cut out the thin portion for the white outline. Apply that one and paint it red. The vinyl should be covering the red that you already painted so it will not be a problem. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
