I remember hearing that Chalmers is apparently written to be the only character who can function normally outside of Springfield. Unlike Frank Grimes, Chalmers knows everyone is crazy, but he decides not to let it bother him too much, as he knows if he presses too much, he’ll go down a rabbit hole he’d never escape from, hence why he indulges in Skinner’s lies.
I can't help but laugh at all the times Chalmers yells at Skinner just for him to finally admit he likes the guy! Guess deep down, he really appreciates him! Man, I did love that episode when they finally expressed it!
it's worth noting that Rosemary Chalmers died during the course of the series. Chalmers mentioned in The Pranksta Rap that his wife is very ill. it's also possible that that's why Shauna joined the Springfield Bullies.
Chalmers italian’s voice actor passed away two years ago. His "Skinneeeer" is memorable and I'm sorry he couldn't make “Road to Cincinnati” 🥺 Rip Roberto Draghetti ❤️ (He was also the voice of Snake and Fat Tony)
When in Italy, I saw an episode of the Simpsons in Italian, and it was unnerving to hear Milhouse's voice so deep compared to the English version, whereas all the other voice actors sound similar.
This wisdom will one day be the key phrase to save the world from inevitable doom. When climate change is upon us in its purest form of smoke all over the world, people will still deny the existence of climate change. The governor calls the city of Los Angeles. "Why is there smoke coming out of the entire eco system?" "Oh that isn't smoke...its steam...steam from the cool steamy windy breeze we're having...hmmmm steamed breeze" If climate change continues on as it does like that, soon we will be indeed able to see aurora borealis in the middle of day in our kitchen. "Yes, & you call them steamed lands, despite they fact they are obviously grilled & burned by the sun" lol XD
Chalmers character is written in such an interesting way. I'm guessing he was just as uptight as principal Skinner at one point until he met Skinner and realized how much he hated being around him so he became a more gruff person. Dr. Hibbert or Kirk Van Houten timelines I think would be pretty fun.
You forget how complex Super Nintendo Chalmers is! Fantastic job as always Lydia! I’m all caught up now by the way I just need season 33 to drop on Disney+ now haha I definitely don’t think modern Simpsons is nearly as bad as some people think it is.
Morden Simpsons doesn't have the same spunk as say everything before the Simpsons movie did but there are multiple episodes after the movie and within the past 5 years that I and many others enjoy very much. The Simpsons are like SpongeBob. Most of the fans think the show should have its plug pulled after the movie but nickelodeon wanted more. You can argue that up until season 5 maybe season 6 of SpongeBob is okay and everything after is awful. With the Simpsons, a lot of people cut off their line at either season 11 when Maude died or the second half of season 18 after the Simpsons movie. You can argue that there was a pulse up into the 20s. But season 22's Lisa goes Gaga made it clear that the Simpsons were in a coma and fox didn't want to pull that plug. However like SpongeBob, in the dark era that came after that episode multiple episodes showed promise and the fans enjoyed it. Seasons 28-33 have an odd relationship with the fans. They aren't necessarily bad episodes they're just repeats of past plot points or grasps at straws but they still can strike magic. Like season 29? Season finale where the plot revolves around Santa's little helper and not wanting to put on a Santa hat and having that trauma being linked to his mother. And it ends on a sweet note with him reuniting with her and the Simpsons adopting her. (You can see her in the background in episodes from this point onwards). They didn't retcon how they got him as their pet and they didn't even retcon the fact that snowball 1 passed a few months before they got him. (The cat that was mentioned in a letter at the very end of the first episode just happened to still have the same death time period as it does 30 years later). That attention to detail and explaining why his name was Santa's little helper was a great nod to the series premiere. The Simpsons is a complex show Many people believe it should have ended at Different points but you can argue that each season brings out an episode that makes people think and believe that it could belong In the early season. Like in season 31? Bart finds Mrs K's notebook and thinks she was writing about him and her belief in him being the best Bart can be made him try to honour that. Now obviously Lisa had to get jealous and ruin it by revealing Mrs k was talking about her cat but his belief that his teacher did believe in him inspired him to believe in himself in the end of the episode. By the next episode, he was the hell-raiser though. we all know and love but had Mrs k died in say season 5 I could see a season 6/7 episode following this plot. An episode in season 31 had fat Tony in the foreground and pushed the Simpsons in the background. It was an interesting concept of the Simpson's family being the B plot that isn't explored very much. Or later on in season 31 that gave depth to Sarah chief wiggim's wife. There was an episode just last season that gave depth to Martin prince that frankly we never knew we needed. He was always the background nerd character that was used to make nerd jokes when Lisa or Milhouse couldn't be used. That episode told us why he put on that brave face he does every day knowing that it will one day make him snap. An episode later on that season dove into Lisa being uncomfortable with her body and her having a really touching moment with Marge about how words can impact a child. The Simpsons have a lot of life to give and I hope we get to see it end on the creator's terms not fox finally pulling that plug.
In the episode “Pranksta Rap”, at the end of the episode, Chalmers had joined a rap group, whom are making fun of him. He tells skinner “I think they’re making fun of me, but my wife is very sick.” So Chalmers wife died sometime past Season 16, episode 9.
Ah Super Nintendo Chalmers! The only man to razz Skinner to the point of paranoia and has some of the best screaming one-liners around! " Why is it when I heard failures and schools...I thought SKINNER?!!!!!"
I can’t believe superintendent chalmers had a daughter of all characters! The two are nothing alike and I like how she and Lisa had that dynamic together in one of the newer episodes too.
I remember that in Pranksta Rap, Chalmers had to put up with the humiliation just because his wife was sick and he needed the money. Only to find out later that she died. And even later that he has a rocky relationship with his daughter. This man's life is falling apart, and yet he decides to give Skinner a hug and tell him that he likes the man.
You gotta had it to Chalmbers for being one of the few people in the show to actually get Bart to like education. Also you really feel for him that he has to put up with Shauna for a daughter.
Chalmers is a pretty good guy. He's one of the few people that can get through to Bart. Not to mention he taught Homer how to brew his own beer 🍺 and became his new drinking buddy.
@@mechajay3358 definitely. Shauna doesn't understand how lucky she is to have Chalmers as a father. There's plenty of kids in the foster care system that would trade places with her in a heartbeat.

Steamed hams showcases this perfectly
He's a popular secondary character. But I honestly believe without the "Steamed Hams" thing, he wouldn't have reached his current fame height.
Definitely. Steamed Hams or Ralph's "Hi Super Nintendo Chalmers!" are all people ever seem to quote of him.
It certainly got him a lot of attention from fans and highlights how well he bounces of Skinner.
