- Somehow even better than the band's incredible debut record.

great albums log is a channel that i started as a log of sorts. i wanted to talk about the music that i LOVE in a way that highlights each project's strengths and spreads positivity, while also keeping of record of the stuff I've been listening to! thus, great albums log was born!
if you have any requests or things you think i should check out, drop a comment or email me! I am always on the lookout for new music, from artists big or small! and if you have thoughts on anything i talk about, leave a comment! i ALWAYS want to curate non-harmful discussions of music and musicians!
brief note, realized that i mispronounced mica tenenbaum’s name at the beginning of the video. my apologies to her, alongside congratulations for this incredible album
Yes! Thank you for pointing out that "The Beginning" transitions into "She Looked Like Me!"
of course, it's one of my favorite lil details about this project!! thanks for watching!

Whoa
Vampire in thr Corner keeps growing on me. The way the vocals are super crisp then become more distorted is awesome.
it is so awesome, vampire in the corner is slowly becoming my favorite cut on this whole project. it’s incredible
When I first finished listening to the last track I thought to myself "Damn these last few notes are spooky I wonder if they'd lead into the next album" not knowing that they literally did that with this one already until you pointed it out omg thats awesome
it's such a cool detail that totally reframes EVERYTHING about this record for me! i can't imagine that they would do the same thing for their next project, as the end of Imaginal Disk for me feels complete, but knowing magdalena bay, they'll probably do something even more out of the box haha!
Fantastic review and I so agree with your take, including that Angel on a Satellite blew me away and became one of my favorite songs ever - and my top ten list includes Van Morrison, Stereolab, Pixies, Cocteau Twins, The Beatles…
I wore the grooves of my mp4s with Mercurial World and am loving the new one.
Thanks for an insightful and thoughtful review!
thank you so much for watching!! completely agree on angel on a satellite, it gets better with each and every single listen
I have a few songs off their previous album in my 'liked songs' on Spotify but never ended up playing the entire record very often. Will give this a listen.
this one is def best enjoyed as a full album experience, but it's worth the time put in. i've been listening to this one so so much the past few days!
IMAGINAL DISK AOTY 👏👏
i agree with all of the points you make here, very nice to see so many people share my immense love for this album and band!
also a little side note; songs like tunnel vision and death & romance grew on me heavily when this album came out, idk how they do it but magbay def has put some curse on me to always adore their work no matter what lol
it just shows the craft that they put into a full album and not just the individual songs, since the tracklisting and other cuts on here made me appreciate each single SO much more than i already did. they are doing incredible work
@@greatalbumslog exactly!! listening to this album on the first listen was such an experience, they’re truely so talented
Amazing album! Can’t stop listening to it, my favorites are Image, Killing Time, That’s My Floor, and Cry For Me
i'm shocked that you always have the best taste!!!
Whoa, Balatro reference on the wall
Canonically Imaginal Disk is also Mercurial World
which makes total sense, given the way that this album is presented in connection with mercurial world! there's so much at play with this record that i'm excited to keep uncovering as i continue listening!
I think it’s a decent album, but not a masterpiece, and even after 3 listens to this album, I still don’t understand the hype.
that’s totally valid! it might be something that clicks with you later on but not everything is going to be everyone’s cup of tea for sure
