    It great to see a true amateur create projects with all the correct tools. Im really Jealous. A couple of clamps and a damn big hammer is my tools of choice. Keep going on all your projects during the trying times if you can.

    If you find it is a bit of a stretch with a simulated locked belt you should find it will fit the same under the driver's seat. That's where I put mine; it was never in the way and much easier to access in a hurry.

    A good accessory that little fire extinguisher, you'll maybe carry it around for years then that one time it saves your vehicle or someone else's, makes it worth its weight in gold.

    How good are Porsche, having a mount for it - 'spose they are a car used for competitive events a lot. Nice work mate

      Mk2 golf also had a factory mount for a fire extinguisher too... 😂

      It's mandatory in some countries. So almost all global market cars have it.

    As someone who has done quite a few trackdays with magnetic numbers, I would recommend also adding a bit of painters tape along the forward facing edges...they love to fly off over 100mph!

    Nice quick project. I’d flip the extinguisher so the latch holding it in was closer to the driver, rather than being on the door side.
    Good luck with the track days!

      I was about to say the same. Last thing you want is Mrs Jeff kicking the handle and it going off! 😂 (I know there is a plastic safety on it!)

    in my 996 4s, I used to hear a squeal. I thought it was the interior fan that was giving up the ghost. Found a new one ( Skoda part# iso Porsche ( 75$ vs 500$ ) ) and spend quite some time removing the glove-box, and fitting the new fan. Put it together, went for a drive...still squeaking !. Removed the glovebox, and everything that could squeak, went for a drive. Noticed my fire-extinguisher bobbing a bit. Put my hand on it, squaking stopped !!!.. it was the extisnguisher that was rubbing against the leather !!!. Allt hat time wasted back then, but fun using the anekdote on YT ;-)

    Thanks! I was wondering where to place it instead of the frunk.

      The froot is a pretty useless place to keep it, as if your car is on fire it takes too long to get to it.

    Would have been cool to make that out of magnesium... wait, nevermind. Looks good. Have a great time at the track. Brother in law got some track at Sanoma and had a great time in his Porsche.

    How do you plan on sticking the tow hook triangles to the bumbers, which are plastic?

    Love the extinguisher bracket. However, you might want to take stickers as a back up as the magnets might struggle to hang on at track speeds. Would hate for your track day to be wasted by a few $$$ of stickers. 😢

    I've heard that the magnetic plates can scratch the paint, not sure if it's true. Loving the work though man.

    Jeff, American Question.
    Between you and MCM I hear a lot about tow hooks. Is it an Australian vehicle requirement that all "modern" vehicles have tow hook capability? Or is this a response to different Tow Truck rules for you guys?

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  4 года назад +1

      Tow hooks are generally required when you go on track, just incase you needed to be dragged out of the kitty litter or worse ;)

    Jeff
    i know you said you like to keep costs down (dont't we all) but here is a link to a fire suppression system which is becoming very popular in the Air cool VW scene as the value of T1 & T2 buses and early Beetles continue to skyrocket this system is a must especially for your 911 Harry. God forbid should anything happen to it and with the way early 911 prices are going mentally high this would be a small price to pay in protecting all that hard work on that beutiful 911 of yours.

    Neither Wakefield Park nor Sydney Motorsports Park require a fire extinguisher, tow hook or blue triangle. For road registered cars I doubt any circuit does. #AlternateFacts

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  4 года назад

      Porsche club rules require it.

    • @joelb2660
      @joelb2660 4 года назад

      It not required in Europe, but I would still rather have the extinguisher than not. I have a bigger one than a 1kg though. Not sure how much use a 1kg would be in the real world.
