    This whole boss fight kinda lacks motion and isn't particularly engaging. I would suggest making the minigun fire faster and better tracking for the player. There needs to be a feeling of danger and urgency to dodge the mech's attacks. The earthquake attack type of thing looks decent but can probably be even better, perhaps increase the area of effect but lower the count of earthquake missiles. The whole boss fight kinda feels like a shitty bullet-hell game but without the intensive bullet dodging, instead you are just holding a directional key resulting in complete safety from the minigun bullets. I would also suggest adding some of kind of an invincibility phase where you can't deal damage to the mech at all or, alternatively only be able to deal damage when hitting specific weak points. Perhaps maybe add some kind of a shield ability to the mech which would be combined with the minigun attack, resulting in a inability to just strafe left/right and unleash rounds into the boss with pretty much no consequences. Overall the idea of a mech is always cool, but your current boss fight lacks flashiness. I think most people imagine something very flashy and over the top when they think of a fight with a mech. I really hope this comment serves as food for thought and helps you on your journey.

      Honestly yeah I agree, I wanted to rework a lot of the fight but I only gave myself 2 weeks to work on the prototype. Oddly enough there was originally an invincibility phase but I removed it at some point which needed lot of last minute balance changes as well. Eventually though for sure I'm going to make a lot of changes to the full fight.

      Honestly I just try to have fun with it, just finding ideas that get me excited and going with them, even dumb ones. It also helps changing things up sometimes too just to not burn out as fast. I actually started making videos after going through the same thing recently, just working on smaller projects. That's all I can think of really.

    Robots or mechs are great boss's to start of with, they are easier to make (from my experience) + you dont have to go through the hassle of making a smooth animation because its a robot lol, and who wouldn't like to fight a giant mech.

    Are you gonna make a game out of this? Would be fun if this was the beginning of the game, make it so right out of tutorial you'll run into this boss and either find a way to kill it or run away and beat it later! I think tracking missiles could definitely have been neat if they used it when they had barely any health left as a last attempt

      Hopefully yeah. This was actually just testing for the first boss for a full game. For right now though I'm just finishing a lot of smaller projects.

    For a prototype that looks really awesome, specially the animations. Suggestions:
    1) Add some random soundtrack temporarily just to get a better feel of the fight. Right now It's like: "God damn, what a cool entrance for the boss" **shoot each other in silence** "Well that's awkward".
    2) Whenever you get the boss to walk, try adding some sort of charge/running attack as well, idk maybe he fires some thrusters from his back and charges towards the player, with a slight amount of tracking so you can't just walk left/right to dodge and gotta use the slide properly. I feel like this sort of attack would really benefit this boss to make him look more active and threatening, right now he is just chilling and keeping his distance. It would make the player poop their pants whenever they are feeling safe. "Yeah take that!" **shoots the boss** "...Wtf is he doing now? Oh... OH SHIT HE CAN GO FAST".
    3) Blender, but you know that already :D

      Pretty easy, it's actually just some box colliders that damage the player with a little delay between them, one per segment. I just added some screenshake and some code to animate it

    I subscribed because I wonder that how and where it'll go. Keep going it is not bad for starting. My advice is: Boss fight does have to be challenging. And it should move more than this for more dynamic playing. Maybe it can make a movement/attack like an dash with melle attack between saome gun firing sections etc. it's up to you. But keep going going good

    I love how you misheard tracking missiles as fracking missiles and actually decided to go with that. Little bits of creativity like that make games stand out. Also most of the animations here look fairly solid.
    Points of criticism I have would be that the arena is too empty. Sure, sometimes you need a plain open area to fight a boss in, especially if that boss has a lot of aoe attacks or is just too big to navigate anything else effectively, but Ricktor isn't such a case. So a variety of scarce cover would be neat for the player to dive behind, as the mech could still flush them out with its fracking missiles to keep them from just peeking out of hiding for the whole fight.
    Also, that minigun firing position is looking really off, the boss needs some sort of a defensive option (meaning either some sort of temporary armor/shield which the player needs to figure out how to circumvent or a large burst of mobility to make it harder for the player to both keep aiming at it and stay out of reach its at the same time) and more attacks to keep the fight dynamic and the player's weapon appears to have a distinct lack of tracers, which combined with the tiny crosshair makes it rather challenging to see if you are actually aiming at Ricktor or not.
    Overall though, I think it's pretty good.

    This looks awesome. One thing I would have done is made some obstacles for the player to jump around on that help them with dodging certain attacks that get destroyed when the mech shoots them, then make the arena have point where the mech moves too, that way youd get a more visceral reaction from the player as they fight this thing
