A little detail that I really like which also highlights that Knuckles is still rather intelligent is the way he adapted to the robot’s lasers. At first he was taken off guard by them, however when he charged in, he was smart enough to grab something to use as a shield to defend himself in order to get close to the bot. This was actually a really cool detail that displayed his quick thinking and warrior heritage as he was able to adapt rather quickly. It was only when the Robot introduced a new ability where he would be caught by surprised. Showing that he’s still rather naive.

I agree. I think the worries about him being dumb from this comes from the weird voice acting. His actions seems rather consistent as to how he was in the film. If it was Idris reading these lines with his acting, then there wouldn't be this much worry.

Yes,and also another thing i see people complaining about is that tails is portrayed as a bit of a coward, but again tails really depends on sonic in the movie, and that will change in the third movie probably like in sonic adventure 1.
The story wasn't anything special but they got a really good thing going on with the dynamic of the characters. It was the best part of the second movie and it's the best part here.
I hope that if he is in the third movie Tails redesigns the bot to fit his style, like giving it a little body and painting it to match Tails’ color, he could be like Moto-Bud from the IDW comics
To be fair, Knuckles hasn't worked with a team before Sonic and Tails. He has always been an "i gotta do what I feel is right" kinda guy which, in turn, makes him naive and a lil bit dumb in making quick decisions. I, honestly, don't see anything wrong with his portrayal here. If they keep him like this then, yeah, there would be a problem, but as long as they settle him into the team by the time of Sonic Movie 3, I'd say his portrayal is spot on here.
Marza Animation Planet did an awesome job making this short animation. It's bright and stunning. I was amazed and I can't believe how incredible this short animation is. I'm enjoying it very much! It was fun to watch.

I feel like they could keep the drone for the third movie, regardless if most people saw this short or not, they can easily explain that Tails found it after the fight with Robotnik and decided to keep it due to his interest in technology.
When I saw this, it was so adorable and I love every minute of it. For Knuckles, I believe he’s still getting used being on Planet Earth, so it kinda makes sense for his personality in this short
My thoughts on the animation, it was really entertaining. Different voice actors for both Knuckles and Tails but I really enjoyed what I watched. The Knuckles show I might consider watching it if there’s anything good that intrigues me in the future.

Really hope the drone becomes a thing in the third movie. Hell, that could be a plot for later in this universe(maybe the Knuckles show?). Robotnik's tech is just sort of out there and , due to how advanced it is , they could have these drones slowly evolve and become sentient. Giving a pathway for characters like Gamma ,Omega and Shard to show up Maybe even having one of them, with the mission to kill Sonic, somehow evolve and upgrade itself into Silver , Mecha and finally Metal Sonic / Metal Overlord That way, even if this version of Robotnik isn't coming back with Jim Carrey's potential retirement, Robotnik's influence will stay in the long term
I like how knuckles is attempting to adopt sonics personallity, it makes him appear goofy yet heavily invested in movie culture as movie sonic is known for I just hope he wont get dumbed down later
This short looks pretty spectacular. Now while Ben is the only one reprising his role here, it’s feels kinda weird to hear new voices for tails and knuckles. Hopefully this is a one time thing and Colleen and idris can reprise their roles in sonic 3. But my days. The animation! It’s done so well!!! Fred Tatasciore as Knuckles in “Sonic Drone Home”? Wow! He’s no Idris Elba, but his impression is actually very good and comes close to Elba’s Knuckles!
This Knuckles isn’t like BOOM and he isn’t dumb. He’s really goofy is all. Like it sounds like his movie personality but more like how he was in the baseball game where he’s loosened up and seems to be more headstrong in a comedic way rather than taking him as seriously. He probably comes off dumb because he narrated and failed to beat the robot but was so into fighting. But really he only narrated because of Sonic and was skeptical of the robot by the end. But no where did he really do anything “dumb”. Hopefully he can still have serious moments and he should be fine.
Maybe if they find a way to insert this drone into the movie that feels fluid it should be fine, I mean they kinda did this in Sonic movie 2, where the prequel comic showed certain aspects that are in the movie such as how agent stone started working in a coffee shop or how Knuckles met the Babylonian type hunters he was with in the beginning of the movie Even though majority of the people that saw the movie probably didn’t read the comic
Blu-Ray on August 9 and Japan still won't get theirs on theater until the 19th. I would've bought the DVD and hope for Japanese subtitles if I were them.

@aggro mango well i really meant the expressiveness and movement of the characters. their motion in this short is alot bouncier and active then in the movies (probably due to their expressions being limited to their voice actors facial movements). not to say the movies models are any less impressive, its just being fully animated allows for more dynamics. im just hopeing the series may share a similar style dispite also being in live action

Movie Knuckles is like if you took a medieval knight and placed him in the present. He's not stupid, just out of his element. Plus it's pretty much an overstatement considering sonic boom LITERALLY had the man confuse his lefts and rights. This is fine by comparison. Boom Knuckles literally couldn’t read and this was played as a joke multiple times. Meanwhile this clip has Knux disappointed over books he was presumably reading being destroyed. He isn’t being dumb in this short, he’s just being a dramatic goofball. He's still very naive, it's part of his character, and that's what their intentions were
How did I not realize the voices were different until now. What- how??? It was pretty obvious with Knuckles especially. I guess they just talked in-character enough (with like tone and stuff) that it didn’t quite click??
I'm assuming the voices are only different because the actors were busy with other projects and they had a strict deadline to meet for the short because it had to coincide with Sonic 2s release on paramount plus
Y’know I’ve been thinking on how this could work for metal sonic or emeral (sonic advance battle 1 ) if he becomes canon, now if my suspicions could possibly be right, this robot could be the start of how emeral (sonic advance battle series) or metal sonic could be implanted in the story, like what I mean by this is Jim carry’s robotnik / eggman could eventually take back control of that drone, speaking of the drone I do agree with Sam won’t he fact this drone is special then the other and already has personality, even was able to stop sonic, tails, and knuckles similar to what happened with the death egg robot in the actual film (I could be wrong though, but hopefully we see this drone, but my other theory is tails could upgrade this robot to look exactly resembling metal sonic, but is good similar to the Archie comics where uncle Chuck was metal sonic, and he turned good)

You see, this shows why the Uekawa Modern designs do not do them any favors in 3D. Giving Sonic and Knuckles shoulders and making their proportions more sensible allows for much more range then the gigantic hands and noodle limbs of the Modern cast in 3D.

Now the games are so damn short that Sega can't afford to not get every Single bit of Action into the gameplay (which they also messed up)
It has nothing to do with designs, it's just how they're handled. The peanuts movie, all the Pixar films and anything Mickey mouse related proves this. They shouldn't give modern Sonic joints and shoulders
@@blitz4506 Why not? You know what all those things you listed have in common? They have shoulders to communicate more human gestures, if you look at how Mickey moves, slouches, crouches and more. They efficiently use his shoulders to communicate emotion. Noodle limbs can work but in 3D you have the trouble of communicating character without the use of those gestures. Say, if Sonic wanted to crouch down with his arm touching his knee, it looks insanely awkward not only due to his proportions, but also because he has no shoulders that humans would normally use to communicate such an action.
@@jadetealaaron2003 They're utilizing them, they're at a stand still on how to make them look good because of how awkward alot of posing can be with them. Take say Knuckles, his gigantic hands mixed with noddle limbs makes a pose such as crossing his arms look awkward because not only does he have no shoulders to communicate that gesture like human beings would, but also his hands are too big to where the pose is barely readable. This is the issue with Modern Sonic's design philosophy as when they over exaggerate proportions, while that can have their strength, it actively limits alot of good posing you could do. Ratchet, Crash, or even Daxter for example can do alot of the gestures they can do because they has the features nessacary to do so, allowing them to feel more human as a character and have much more range then a character like Modern Sonic or Knuckles can in 3D.
I have a theory that can definitely play into that. I thought maybe GUN would force Tails into building them weapons to fight Shadow, seeing how beat up they got with his gadgets in the second movie, which may result in him creating Metal Sonic,

This Drone reminds me of the Oil Ocean boss in Sonic 4 Episode 2.

Movie Knuckles is like if you took a medieval knight and placed him in the present. He's not stupid, just out of his element.
Plus it's pretty much an overstatement considering sonic boom LITERALLY had the man confuse his lefts and rights. This is fine by comparison. Boom Knuckles literally couldn’t read and this was played as a joke multiple times. Meanwhile this clip has Knux disappointed over books he was presumably reading being destroyed. He isn’t being dumb in this short, he’s just being a dramatic goofball. He's still very naive, it's part of his character, and that's what their intentions were

I think they could have that drone be modified by tails and turn into E-102 gamma

It's like a 4 minute short and Idris Elba and Collen are both pretty busy actors so they probably just were'nt avaliable for it.
How did I not realize the voices were different until now. What- how??? It was pretty obvious with Knuckles especially.

I'm assuming the voices are only different because the actors were busy with other projects and they had a strict deadline to meet for the short because it had to coincide with Sonic 2s release on paramount plus

Y’know I’ve been thinking on how this could work for metal sonic or emeral (sonic advance battle 1 ) if he becomes canon, now if my suspicions could possibly be right, this robot could be the start of how emeral (sonic advance battle series) or metal sonic could be implanted in the story, like what I mean by this is Jim carry’s robotnik / eggman could eventually take back control of that drone, speaking of the drone I do agree with Sam won’t he fact this drone is special then the other and already has personality, even was able to stop sonic, tails, and knuckles similar to what happened with the death egg robot in the actual film (I could be wrong though, but hopefully we see this drone, but my other theory is tails could upgrade this robot to look exactly resembling metal sonic, but is good similar to the Archie comics where uncle Chuck was metal sonic, and he turned good)

You see, this shows why the Uekawa Modern designs do not do them any favors in 3D. Giving Sonic and Knuckles shoulders and making their proportions more sensible allows for much more range then the gigantic hands and noodle limbs of the Modern cast in 3D.
I wouldn't say it's the Modern Designs that don't do any favors, it's more so Sega seeming to not know how to fully utilize the character designs
@@jadetealaaron2003 Exactly, in times before the "meta era" (why tf is it called that XD) Sonic's movement was fully utilized. Back then Action was also part of cutscenes. Now the games are so damn short that Sega can't afford to not get every Single bit of Action into the gameplay (which they also messed up)
It has nothing to do with designs, it's just how they're handled.
The peanuts movie, all the Pixar films and anything Mickey mouse related proves this. They shouldn't give modern Sonic joints and shoulders
@@blitz4506 Why not? You know what all those things you listed have in common? They have shoulders to communicate more human gestures, if you look at how Mickey moves, slouches, crouches and more. They efficiently use his shoulders to communicate emotion. Noodle limbs can work but in 3D you have the trouble of communicating character without the use of those gestures. Say, if Sonic wanted to crouch down with his arm touching his knee, it looks insanely awkward not only due to his proportions, but also because he has no shoulders that humans would normally use to communicate such an action.
@@jadetealaaron2003 They're utilizing them, they're at a stand still on how to make them look good because of how awkward alot of posing can be with them. Take say Knuckles, his gigantic hands mixed with noddle limbs makes a pose such as crossing his arms look awkward because not only does he have no shoulders to communicate that gesture like human beings would, but also his hands are too big to where the pose is barely readable. This is the issue with Modern Sonic's design philosophy as when they over exaggerate proportions, while that can have their strength, it actively limits alot of good posing you could do. Ratchet, Crash, or even Daxter for example can do alot of the gestures they can do because they has the features nessacary to do so, allowing them to feel more human as a character and have much more range then a character like Modern Sonic or Knuckles can in 3D.
