- In this video the Corsa d gets a new head unit from ebay for £32 and we fit it in. we have had to reroute the ignition cable to the cigarette lighter in the video also. this is part 1 of 3.

The cigarette lighter only works when the ignition lights are on, so you cant use the head unit when you are waiting in your car, the only other option is the accessory live on the ignition barrel, the first position when turning the key.

you skipped the part when putting it into the car, did you put the cage back in as I can still see it attached the to the old radio in the footwell?

Just wondering what cage have you used to hold radio in place, because I can't seem to get the pioneer cage to fit (double din). Like your Corsa I have the plastic inner frame/holder (normally i have seen a metal inner cage, which needs removing to fit aftermarket radio's)
Hiya its just a standard 7 inch off ebay but the trim didn't quite fit. Iv got a video of what I did to make it fit lol.

There is a large circle input on the back. It goes to that bit mate
How did you get the cage back in? I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. Because the mp5 player isn't fitting in properly. My cage is exactly like yours and the head set is also the same.
It's supposed to be very tight but does fit in. The flat bit goes at the top
I've tried that, I recognised that the top is the flat bit but it just doesn't fit. I guess I'll just live with it sticking out 😭.

What facia panel do I have to get for it to fit in properly in my vauxhall corsa D 2013
7 inch mate but they can sometimes need a bit of modifying to get it to fit
did the steering wheel controls still work or do you need a different adapter?
I actually have the life version which doesn't come with the steering controls. However, I have been told by others it does work and the adapter I ordered did come with the wire for the controls I just never hooked it up

I'll let you know how it goes. Also I was wondering why you have to connect to the cigarette lighter if there is already a power cable?
Most aftermarket head units are 12v. The original cd player is higher so the head unit won't manage with the voltage. The cigarette lighter is a 12v power supply instead so works well. I think if you replace the cd player via the normal power source you also have to programme it so cigarette lighter is the best option
You mentioned something about the stereo having a different type of fuse in it? Dose this mean I won’t be able to tap into my fuse box and just get the power from there? Like the wiper blade fuse for example?
I'm not sure. If there is a 12v fuse in the box you may be able to use it but the cigarette lighter is the easiest option as its close

It's been a while since iv done anything but I'm pretty sure black is ground wire

The adaptor harness should do the job completely fine you just need to wire into the positive on the cigarette lighter like in the video mate. You have to add a wire if you want the reverse camera but just for the head unit it should be fine

Yes mate as it needs a different voltage to the stock hu. I think the stock is 15v and the cig lighter is 12v

It's just a generic one off of amazon mate. If you search corsa d 7 inch fascia they should all be the same fit for it

Thanks for your videos bro, you are brilliant :). I'm wondering if you can help me in this case, my genuine screen doesn't turn on, and the radios' lights and steering control buttons are not working. when I remove the ground cable from the battery and return it back, everything works well but for short period ( about 5- 10 minutes).
found this error when I checked the computer, U2117 No Can Bus Communication with DIS(display).
Hey mate. Really appreciate your comments. It's hard to say for sure but it could be a multitude of issues. Try checking and testing the wires, it could be the radio itself, fuses. But tbh it sounds to me like a wiring problem as it is causing several areas to not work. Maybe try testing each of the wires with a voltmeter. Hope this helps
@@BrakesWheelsAutomobiles thanks for your quick reply, I'll check the wires connection. The weird thing is that when I diconnect the ground wire, everythings work fine. I guess my battery is runnung out, I'll try to replace it hope this will work.
Have you tried grounding it elsewhere? Sounds like that is probably your issue.

Yes. There should be multiple areas around the radio you cam ground to.
We’re you get the upgraded knobs for the heater n that mate?

What cage did you use for it please
The cage that came with the stock cd player holds it in place fine but then I have since ordered a Autoleads DFP-19-00 Car Audio Double DIN Facia Adaptor, Black
On amazon and then I'm just waiting on the other piece now.

so you can open it and connect it
You can buy wire cutters from places like wilkos. They're really simple just put the wire and squeeze gently. If not just use a knife and slice away gently at the wire. Make sure its neat and you don't cut away and wiring
Will you cover the instillation of the reversing camera in part 2, thats something which I want to add to mine 🤣
I was planning on doing a video down the road but not yet but I'll have a look into it mate.
@@BrakesWheelsAutomobiles Cheers, I find that the only thing I feel my corsa needs is a reverse camera and a heated steering wheel!
