Also, watch our new movie about the shops and pubs of Dingle: • Dingle, Ireland, shops...
We are at the western edge of Europe visiting Dingle on the Atlantic coast of Ireland. We are taking a drive out into the countryside to the Slea Head panoramic loop with marvelous scenery, lots of green hills, sheep, stone walls and archaeological sites. This is some of the best scenery in Ireland if not the world.
Dingle is out on the peninsula a little bit hard to get to and yet it's one of the nicest places in Ireland - it's got the urban charm of the town but it's a small town, and has beautiful natural countryside we explore in this episode.
Most visitors find the real attraction is the surrounding areas with the beautiful countryside and the historic sites, with a few minute’s drive you’re at the edge of town and in the countryside almost immediately. Driving from Dingle out around the peninsula and back again is just about 25 miles so you can easily do it in half a day while stopping to look at the sites. We're lucky that some of Ireland's prehistory is still quite visible with stone structures that have survived for thousands of years. The :beehive hut” stone domes site was occupied until about 1200 A.D. by which time it had evolved into a farmstead for an extended family with the habitation site and with the corrals and room for livestock farm buildings and storage places.

Ireland is so beautiful, Dingle Peninsula is just stunning & almost dream like in it's ethereal & mysterious beauty & the Irish people are just, Wow! The best & they're the ones who just make this country so very incredible!
I feel very blessed to have walked on Irish soil & I will definitely return asap.

Well done, Dennis Callan. This video and commentary create a good feel for the Dingle Peninsula. Our group of four (me, my wife Rose [maiden name Casey[) her sister and brother in law) visited Ireland in late October-early November 2000. We were based in Killarney and the most of a day touring Dingle was one of the highlights. I was the driver of our Toyota Land Cruiser, and my skill (+luck) in managing the left side of the road are legendary in our family. My brother-in-law was Eddie "Abe" Abramoski, the head trainer for the Buffalo Bills NFL team, from their inception in 1960, until he retired in 1997. Eddie wore some Bills gear every day of our 13 in Ireland, and on at least 11 occasions, a stranger would approach him to say they were a Bills fan! Eddie passed June 24, 2022, at 88. It was a splendid vacation with splendid people, and we often reminisce about it. My sister-in-law is Pat, and our favorite restaurant was Pat's, in the Arbutus Hotel, Killarney. As it happens, a store named "Casey's" (electronics plus alcoholic beverages) was across the street. The Bills play today, at 1:00 ET (it's now approaching noon) vs. the Miami Dolphins, in the first round of postseason games. I'm now a subscriber of your channel.

From one Dennis to another, thank you for that wonderful memory and tale of your Killarney adventures. It really is a misunderstood place, not just a haven for bus tours, but an authentic, beautiful town with much to see, and many fine restaurants, with excellent nearby attractions.

Ireland is a separate island all it's own, whilst both Scotland & Wales are part of the United Kingdom & are separate from Ireland.
Also, within all countries you mentioned, there's not only the country/farmland to see, but of course, many wee to larger cities, so too, so many historical sites to witness.
But getting very "off topic" here, there are also many global regions, far removed from these countries, that are equally, if not more beautiful abound, so far as the green scenery & general architecture, flora & fauna etc;.
For eg: I have travelled across all continents, numerous times & I have witnessed grand beauty, that's out of this world, including too, many incredibly lush/verdant locations.
I can say, hand on heart, that Ireland is not the only green country, albeit, it's very green, much of the time, although these days with our hotter climate, it's green hues can be compromised & start to appear quite dull/pale abound, until the rains return.

You are correct, not in Dingle (I got bad internet info). Primarily filmed in Cong - County Mayo. Some parts also filmed in County Galway, at Oughterard - Lettergesh Beach -Ballyglunin and Maam Train Station.
I don't doubt the beehive huts have been "stabilized" if not rebuilt, but they seem to be in the original style.

Irish is Gaelic. Spelt Gaeilge in Irish if you see what I mean. Most people speak Hiberno- English which our ancestors were coerced into. It's been an uphill battle to bring back the language as it was taught very badly in school . Still many still make the effort

It says Dingle Peninsula, which is exactly what the video is all about, the beautiful peninsula, with a little bit of Dingle town included at the end, around 16:30. If you want Dingle town, I've got that one also here: ruclips.net/video/oILOaUIC1mY/видео.html

did you not go out and see Fungie the dolphin? he was a beautiful soul and probably the biggest tourist attraction in the area...when i went there with my son it appeared like the whole town was built around Fungie...you could get on a boat to go around the harbour and Fungie would come out to every single boat and delight the passengers with his playful nature...the poor fella dissappeared a couple of years ago and as he was well over 40 years old it is assumed he passed away...he gave so much happiness to visitors and wealth to the town i feel terribly sad he went away and died on his own without knowing how much he was loved 😢
