  • Welcome to My Little Tropical Farm. We are homesteading on this small finca (farm) in Panama. This week we visit the fair in Santa Fe. It really gives you a feel of the culture of this small mountain town in the Province of Veraguas.

Loved this video. Were there any other animals at the fair - Sheep? Goats? Chickens? Pigs?

So here is my latest question🤔…why are the cows (in the road) so skinny? There seems to be a lot of pasture for them. Our cattle (Holsteins) never had their ribs showing like that. Any idea?

Samm, I can't say for sure but I don't think they are well fed. From what I see his pastures are very weedy not full of lush grass like many of the others. Some farmers feed a type of feed that is not nutrient dense (something I would never give my animals) and I think he relies on that during the dry season. He had a bunch of hay and seems to have sold it off instead of saving it for his animals. I don't understand it and complain to my friends daily but that is all I can do.
