Yes you really should cut at the corners. It would seem a better idea to continue with one piece of paper but the results are actually much better with it cut.
You can spray paint the wall outlets cover plates black and the screw of the cover plate gold leaf so it matches your kitchen cabinets handles or the opposite way...the 🧱 🗞️ looks amazingggg
