    I am a native Southern Californian my mom is European from Germany to be exact. Here are Southern California tips…
    1- Hollywood is no big deal don’t spend a lot of time there just drive through
    2-same with Beverly Hills, Santa Monica Venice beach etc…
    3-pismo beach Malibu is wonderful
    4-Dana Point San Clemente Carls bad San Diego new port beach balboa area are fabulous
    Get your camping reservations very early they sell out very fast

    Can you post a photo of your Defender's speedometer? Every vehicle I have seen always has the main measure big and within the binnacle, its counterpart mi/km per hour smaller and a different shaded color. I am surprised if yours doesn't. I guess what I am saying is that you should not need a cheat sheet to figure out at what speed you are going. If I am wrong, I am wrong. Keep up the great videos.

    • @NextMeridianExpedition
      @NextMeridianExpedition  2 года назад

      Hey! Actually we noticed cars in the USA have the two measures but back in france we only have the km/h on all our other cars. We cannot post a picture in comment but it is only km/h. It is fine we ended up remembering the main speed limits quickly. Thank you for your comment thought and the kind words!

      @@NextMeridianExpedition Got it. Good to know. I meant you could post the photo on the "Community" tab in the channel to look at it. I searched for the OEM speedometer and all the ones I saw with km/hour as the main, had little white Mph numbers as well. But thank you for letting me know. There must be different versions of the speedometer. I saw Eva’s and it also doesn’t have the smaller Mph numbers.

Lots of near ghost towns, gold mines and such. Towns that have lots of the old time buildings and lots of history in view. Oh! BTW be on the lookout for those "biten" snakes. You can spend many years exploring.

    I was just out on the Alvord Desert. One of my favorite places. Did you go to Mickey Springs? Safe travels.

    Enjoying your travelog! Looks like your are desert people judging how quickly you fled the Pacific NorthWET for the sunshine of eastern Oregon. You'll find the red rock country from Moab down to Sedona to be some of the most spectacular desert on the planet. Perfect time to enjoy it with the lack of summertime heat and crowds.
    Mexico is a beautiful and fascinating country. The northern border regions are beset by cartel wars contesting the lucrative North American drug market. Drive straight through the first couple of hundred miles and only stay in one of the many gated RV parks overnight. Actually I wouldn't cross anywhere on the Texas border -- better from Arizona or eastern California. Once you are south of Culican you are in a country as safe as the US. And much less expensive.
    I've remote camped down thru Mexico, but I wouldn't do it again due to the wisdom of advancing age! Most little hotels have interior courtyards where you can park securely overnight, with the added advantage of meeting people while searching them out. The problem with remote camping is that people live everywhere all over the landscape, and a solo vehicle offers a temptation to locals who don't have any wealth. My favorite North/South route is down Baha then taking the ferry overnight to Puerto Valllrta.
    Fair Winds!

      Amazing! Thanks a lot for the recommendations. We are heading to Utah for sure! And then really looking forward warmer weather in Mexico

      Thanks! If you are passing through the little town of Lo Del Marcos (about 70 miles North of Puerto Vallarta and feel the need for some beach time check out their RV/Tent sites. @@NextMeridianExpedition
