I've watched this a hundred times and it gets more special each time. Some things I note, seeing each artists distinctiveness come through is tremendous but more importantly note how no one sings over the other, it's truly a choir, "coming together as one". Great reaction, I would recommend making the actual video an inset (or you an inset) and preserve the aspect ratio; that way you don't cut out much content. Thanks for posting!!
I wonder how many viewers noticed the iconic Harry Belafonte, a GIANT in the struggle for civil rights, & in the Calypso music world, in the background, singing along w/ the choruses. He, along w/ M.J., was one of the primary organizers of the project. I'm sure they would have given him a solo, but, apparently, he must have declined, for whatever reason. Too bad; he has such a distinctive voice.
Yes indeed we are the world awesome song and an all star musical artists who lended there voices to a great cause and yes dani more upcoming stars should keep the tradition going and make more music to continue to show the world that they are behind them and be there whenever possible amen.great reaction dani how could anyone not get emotional with a song like that.

The song was recorded after the American Music Awards ( not Grammys) which was hosted that evening by Lionel Ritchie. Besides how great this song is and all the performances, the amazing thing to me was that Quincy Jones' production engineer listened to music of all the soloists and decided what lines they were going to sing. Truly amazing as you can hear from the result!
The levels this song climbs to by the time we reach the big chorus......this song is tremendous on every level.....I remember when it came out......and here in 2021 I been watching reactions to people hearing it for the first time.....this song is what MUSIC is all about.......this is the greatest generation of musicians and they was here for this song and for so many to go through their own rabbit hole of greatness. I was a kid when this came out....and now I'm older than most of the people in the room at that time....they gave us so much in this one song along.....

what impresses me even more than the incredible soloists is that the chorus put aside any personal pride/selfishness to come and sing as a backup singer on this without being featured. There are some huge names in the chorus as well as the soloists. Amazing.
@@alansnow1129 Do you know the story behind it? It’s on RUclips the behind the scenes. Micheal had put out the invitation to everyone. The is was done and filmed after the 1985 Grammys. Micheal himself said aside from his brothers, sisters and Diana he didn’t know who was going to show up. The night the Grammys was done those who wanted to go jumped in their cars and went to the studio. And stayed their all night recording. *So if Freddy wanted to be there. He would’ve been there.* that’s how you have Dan from Ghostbusters there singing in the chore who is not a singer. The more people that showed they started blended voices together. Everything happened for a reason. These were the people that was to be in the video. Many singers have later stated they regretted not going.
No, you are just fanboying. The whole point of the song was to pit egos aside and create music for a good course. It’s meant to appeal to many people not just Perry fanboys.
Diana Ross, Kenny Rodgers and Steve Perry were the best of a stellar group. This was the 2nd event. The first was Do They Know it's Christmas? in the UK Nov 1984. The third and final was Live Aid, 3 festivals on 3 continents UK, USA and AU
All favorite artists I love so much. R.I.P. Michael Jackson, Kenny Rogers, Al Jurreau, Ray Charles and James Ingram. But this song makes me so emotional, and the fact is, I love 80s music so much. But this song in general, is one of my personal favorites.
Aside from we are the world Dani, one of the best vocal performances i have ever seen was by Art Garfunkel Bridge over troubled water live in Central Park in 1981 in front of 500,000 people where he sang this so casually with hands in his pockets, off course written by Paul Simon, you yourself will appreciate his great vocals in this performance, a must Dani, a Must
It really started with the UK and Bob Geldof who brought together some of the biggest singers in Europe to raise money for world hunger. The single was Do They Know It's Christmas. And yes, there is a video of it. You can see by the barebones setting (it looks like someone's basement). But the singers included Bono from U2, Duran Duran, Wham, Phil collins, Bananarama, Boy George, and Sade to name a few. Geldof would later out together Live Aid, a globally televised live concert that included Queen's immortal performance.
@@gargeebhattacharjee8681 She brought the song to life with such a small part.Nothing was wrong with her pitch and your comparing apple to oranges.Diana Ross not very memorable in the song
There is a "making of" to this video. In it you can see that Kim Carnes was very annoyed with Cindy. Cindy had needed many attempts because she constantly started singing too late. You can also see this well in Kim's facial expression when Cindy starts to sing.
I love how you listen to music. Your soul reflects so honestly what you feel when listening and you express the feeling so well. It pulls that emotion out of your viewers. You elicit the same kind of expression of feeling as the artists themselves like Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and others. Love you for that!
I love Bruce Springsteen's voice when he came in with Stevie Wonder. For me he killed it. The man sung like he was giving birth to something inside of him. They all killed it, but Bruce killed it, woke it back up and killed it again!! I love Kenny Rogers voice, Kim Carnes, Cindi Lauper, Stevie, Ray Charles, James Ingram!!!
Yess! It’s as if they’re inner child is coming through begging humanity to stand up and come together. This should be played every morning on every radio station🥲🙌❤️✨
Beautifully said, Dani,,, I do hope that within your career you have had or will have the opportunity to start or be involved in such a cause, even on a local level. Every effort helps. Cheers, young lady!😎
can't mistake Dylan, when he steps up. Was indeed mindblowing even at the time that they had so many coming together. There several concerts and recordings for charities with artists grouping together back then, but pretty certain this was the biggest.
Soooo many great artists all in one place and who knows when we see something like this in the future with greatness from different backgrounds and legends. When I was I was in 6th grade, every Thursday we'd gonto the cafeteria to sing and meet our music/art class and we'd sing this song. I get emotional now but sooo many I could name now as an older fella! Beautiful, we need love and peace.
Beautiful reaction! I was in college when the song came out and will never forget how the the whole college cafeteria stopped and paused to look at the monitors when this song was played.
All great voices and are all singing from there heart and with so much passion it's actually unbelievable and u can hear James Ingrams high pitch ooh hoo ooh hoo there at the end.I wish George Michael could have been there thats the only one that could have even make it better but to me its still perfection gives me the chills everytime and I'm so proud to have grown up 16 at the time in 1985 love it probably one of my favorite songs and video of all time
In the 80's, 1985 the best quality of voices from some of the best singers was joined showing US the best human feelings by wonder beautiful sounds from a Marvel souls song. Then was some problems in Africa their people was needing food. And the price of that realy big disc all the money from then up to now is completly for Africa. Was REAL; AMAZING; MARVEL; UNBELIVABLE; but is true. Theres no words enough for describe IT; we only need to open our ears and let the magic happen in our hearts, in our thinks, in our enviroment, in our souls , our bodies... and in all our lifes. In our existence "WE ARE THE WORLD" is a motive for make us feel us proud. Is an album with beautiful idiom for our souls. And from the same album like "WE ARE THE WORLD" I RECOMEND an other beautiful song form the same album; a song with the name of "TEARS ARE NOT ENOUGH" from NOTHERN LIGHTS in the WE ARE THE WORLD OFFICIAL ALBUM OF USA FOR AFRICA.
I was in like 1st or 2nd grade when this was recorded. This was music history being made. We will probably never see this level of talent come together on a single song ever again
Africa was in Famine. This was the USA artists community fundraising song. Canada did one too with their grreat musicians that went out as Tears Are Not Enough by Northern Lights. England did theirs in Dec, 1984 called Feed the World. You could react to these as well for their greatness and effort. We had heart. I manned a phone bank in Canada taking donatoin calls.
When dylan walked in the the studio there was complete silence for over a minute....they realized it was time to get down to business! He been the hippest man on the planet for over 60 years. Great reaction
We will just have to freeze, and immortalize this treasured union of all these different, full bloom flowers within the depths of our souls, for today's music and love for humanity has drifted miles and miles away from these shores.🌹
Considering how little time they had to orchestrate all of this..it's just unbelievable! I think all in one night to! After the Grammys they all came after to do this! Biggest collaboration with the best artists! Imo

Each time.. each time I hear Stevie Wonder on that song, i have tears of joy ..
Because Stevie Wonder is the best ever singer on the planet
I've watched this a hundred times and it gets more special each time. Some things I note, seeing each artists distinctiveness come through is tremendous but more importantly note how no one sings over the other, it's truly a choir, "coming together as one". Great reaction, I would recommend making the actual video an inset (or you an inset) and preserve the aspect ratio; that way you don't cut out much content. Thanks for posting!!
Lo mejor q dejan estos grandes artistas...lástima q algunos ya no estan😢 la mejor cancion y el mejor grupo👋🌹👏💃😘
Beautiful song. We need this in 2021!! Let’s stop the hate and love one another and unite as ONE!
Some of the emotions you showed during the song made me wanna hug you 😶 what a beautiful soul.
Classic performance! So much incredible talent together. Written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson. 😎🎼🎶🎵♥️🇨🇦
I believe he said he wanted to leave the solos to the younger artists.
I always assumed Smokey Robinson declined a solo as well.
Harry Belafonte is actually the one who got all the other singers together.
I did
It's a shame prince wasn't there he would of made a great contribution with his voice
I know we have mentioned just about everyone about but lets all give me a big like for the great Ray Charles
Ray Charles existed in his own zip code, he was an original for sure. Stevie Wonder is up there too. No one quite like either one of them.
The richness of Ray Charles’ voice really stands out, even in this collection of talent.
@Michael jf No Michael, I wasn't saying that about Dani,
Ray Charles!!!! ❤
What about Bob Dylan??
Yes indeed we are the world awesome song and an all star musical artists who lended there voices to a great cause and yes dani more upcoming stars should keep the tradition going and make more music to continue to show the world that they are behind them and be there whenever possible amen.great reaction dani how could anyone not get emotional with a song like that.

So many of them are gone now... What is amazing is the found a way to bring their own personalities, while still blend into a seamless whole.
A few not on the list here were Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick and Dan Ackroyd was singing next to Harry Belafonte in the group shots.
@@peterterry9594 The list does include Tina and Dionne. Dan isn't on the list because he didn't get a solo, he is just in the crowd.
What a dream team
@@timclaus8313 yeah. At least Stevie Wonder is still here
not to raise money, but to raise awareness... the world needs to hear this!
Stevie wonder voice is really angelic!
We will never see the Caliber of singers all together at once sing like this again. Beautiful song
love from new zealand.will..n.z
Compared to the remake, the original group had very distinct voices and styles, but made it blend very well. Fantastic job by all that participated.
Steve Perry could sing like a Canary!
I was in high school when this came out. It's just as powerful and needed today.
Loved how you reacted and I saw how Stevie really pulled out your emotions

Amazing.
I was able to see this as a kid growing up. A collection of talent that can't be replicated.
Michael alone is literally the greatest artist ever, the rest of them are just icing on the cake
So many legends of music together in 1 song.. the best era of the music ever... oh......the 80s what a music
That song needed more Steve Perry.
All songs need more Steve Perry.
So true. He killed it. 😊
Yeah needed more Perry! Freddy Mercury should been in it too! Maybe Barry gibb too!!!!
But this song in general, is one of my personal favorites.
girl same. stevies part always gets me
Brought tears to my eyes.
So impressed you knew most of the singer's, You a true music lover xxx
The worlds best talent of all times, singing one of the best songs of all times. For a great cause. You can't beat this. These are true legends. Wow.
Cyndi Laupers beautiful voice, tho! 💙
Cyndi's voice is such a power house one the most distinctive voices to ever bless the planet!
I was never a big Cyndi fan as a kid but her sheer emotion when she sings is undeniable ❤
Her singing is all over the place. Off key most of the time.
Diana ross is a good contrast. Strong voice, high singing, and on point.
The story is, that there was a sign over the door that said to the personalities "Leave your egos at the door".
Wouldn’t be possible today- unfortunately- my opinion
I think it is amazing that they all were able to put aside their ego and celebrity to come together to help those in need.
This is my first time on your channel. Great song and song choice! I like your perspective and heartfelt reaction. Thank you.
Steven Perry is phenomenal anytime he sings❤
He is amazing
the lyrics to this are just as important now as they were then... but the world need to hear this!
Beautifully said, Dani,,, I do hope that within your career you have had or will have the opportunity to start or be involved in such a cause, even on a local level. Every effort helps. Cheers, young lady!😎
I heard the remake the other day, there is no comparison at all, this kills it, Stevie and Bruce together is epic.
The boss always gets a reaction but the Stevie Collab is smooth
So many are now gone. So much talent in one room...
One of the greatest charitable collaborations of all time. Thanks for your reaction.
Steve Perry = WOW!!!
can't mistake Dylan, when he steps up.
All great voices and are all singing from there heart and with so much passion it's actually unbelievable and u can hear James Ingrams high pitch ooh hoo ooh hoo there at the end.I wish George Michael could have been there thats the only one that could have even make it better but to me its still perfection gives me the chills everytime and I'm so proud to have grown up 16 at the time in 1985 love it probably one of my favorite songs and video of all time
Kim “Bette Davis Eyes” Carnes is in there too. Too many to mention!
So many legends...
That's why 80's is way better...they created something so amazing.....ALL real singers......ALL Legends....no autotuning.
2:14 I must say I love that reaction. Saludos desde Chile. We are the world.
Imo
