Great video, I'll watch it 30 times to understand because its so densely pact with information.

Oops! On 3 transistors you say, resistors are added to the emitter circuit, but show 0.22ohm resistors on the collectors..

Zenner diodes if used for very precise control voltages should have a 100nFceramic capacitor in parallel to eliminate some of the zenner noise. Zenner noise is worse at low current and a zenner should never be used at less than 10% of it's rated working current (this would cause voltage tolerance issues too). Also R1 in the transistor only current regulator should be selected to have approximately 5% of the current flow of that required by the whole circuit - this is because the hfe of a medium power transistor is rarely over 50 (sometimes as low as 20) for medium currents (a bit more at low current) and by medium current I mean medium with reference to that particular transistor. EG a medium current for a 5A part would be 500mA. Low current would be 50mA and high current would be 1A+.

ZeNer not Zenn-er Zeners are not for precise voltage references. The noise by the Zener is usually trivial except in high-gain audio circuits or such.

They are using an TIP 142 which is a darlington with hfe of 1000. Makes a nonsense of your theory.

I'd recommend checking out the datasheet for these devices. They usually provide a current range chart for operation.

Is it possible to use a potentiometer on lm317 circuit? It would make a good current regulator for a variable bench power supply.

So in essence if you're running up to 1A it's better to use a resistor as a current limiter rather than a current limiting circuit? If not what am i reading backwards?

could you please explain how LM358 schematic works? It is not functioning as in video, inputs 2 and 3 have different voltage and it is not changing by potentiometer. And mosfet is open. Always.

Yeah those boards are good for driver circuits but if you deal with currents 20A+ those PCBs are fried (thin copper tracks). Whole art is laying out those power elements.

my linear dc power supply 30v 5amp not increasing current above 2 amp and if i rotate full it shows 2 to 3 amp and when i connect load resistor to check current it slowly increase current upto 3amp and above but at that time my power supply 2n3055 get short what will be the problem?

Can you guide me for limiting the output current to 350mA of a power supply (with output 250vdc, max output 15Amp). Should I simply add 0.22 Ohm 10W (9 Resisters) in Parallel before load?
