I just watched the video as I'm interested in this gun. He's not saying that blowback is useless altogether. He's saying it's usless because on most guns, after the gun has been fired once and blowback occurs, the next shot will be single action trigger pull. in this gun, the blowback does not make the next shot single action. it's always double action. While not entirely useless for training, it's useless that it doesn't make the next shot single action. which kind of makes me not want this gun now.
For me this is probably the best Sig Sauer ASP pistol right outta the box. Owned one for 9 months now and I still have not fixed any valves and whatever. Not a fan of the Tan .. but, meh, whatever.. My M17 shot quite accurately where aimed (from 6 meters), no pellet jamming issues and I have had no leaks (yet). I personally like the DAO trigger - which my P320, P226 and the X-Five ASPs do not have. The stiffer trigger hides well it's belt rotating operation, and I kinda like that. The trigger is not insanely hard as the trigger on the Umarex Glock 17 dual-ammo airpistol, which is just effin horrible. The slide of course have no real function when shooting - but kinda is necessary for the field strip. Could of course switch the slide spring to a bit harder one for less easy slide operation and more gas flow towards the pellet instead.. I have tried out H&N alloy pellets with this also. They were just inaccurate. Did not notice a decent difference when shooting alloy pellets. Shot fasterharder - maybe. But since not noticeably faster by the shooter, but rather on target as bad groups - I just quit testing alloy pellets. I personally use RWS Club pellets with this M17 and other replicas with plastic pellet-bore magazines because of the amazing fit. Tested also Crosman Match pellets. Small and accurate groups. Very nice! But the Crosman Match pellets sat a bit too tight (imo) in the belt - so I quit using them not to wear the belt bores down as fast over time........ - I like shooting this gun. But you can never be sure of when it gets those awful leaks. With good luck, a new magazine is the easiest way to go. The build of it has just too many possible places for a leak to occur. But, these Sig ASPs are more for airgun enthusiasts that like to fix and improve their guns. For people that just wanna shoot year after year...I'd rprobably ecommend some other co2 repllca pistol.
Yo Bror, you need to get sig sauer pellets. This is THE most accurate pistol I have (bbs and pellets combined) the Sig alloy pellets shoot out to 55-60 ft. the Sig lead pellets start dropping at around 30-35 ft.
@@RWMAirgunsmithing Sig pellets? Nah. I've seen the price of those around here - and I ain't shooting target but out to 20-21ft (6m) with my blowback replicas anyhow. And the cheap Crosman Match pellets already can provide pellet on pellet accuracy from 20ft - if the shooter's having a good day, that is..
blowback function - so I think the confusion might be that this replicas for a striker fire pistol...not a DA/SA platform. I expect the 226 blowback to activate the SA trigger, but I own an M17 9mm and I expect same trigger pull first and every time...
Nice review! I think the non-catch blowback is a preferred feature for me, since I would rather apply more pressure at the security of less trigger interference, but I highly respect your choice and think you made this one look very fun! Good data 📈
Great review . I almost bought this gun to replace My Old Trusty GAMO P25 snake and rat killer ... But I think I’ll stick with GAMO . Just wish they hadn’t discontinued the tactical models
I can appreciate that opinion but, if it is going to have a blow-back, let's make it functional. We are striving for even better products and to get there we have to point out the areas that could be improved. Thanks for the feedback and appreciate you watching :)
Is slide recoil or "blowback" functional in reducing trigger pull poundage on a real striker fired handgun? I've personally never felt that the subsequent trigger pulls on a striker fired pistol are reduced poundage from the first trigger pull, so wouldn't the blowback be functional in representing the realism of firing a sig p320?
This model field strips easily (ive done it countless of times) but because of the magazine/valve the slide comes off to the back and up. Like most airguns, you only need to do this to clean it and unjam.. or to lubricate it lightly very seldomly. (ive also done it recently many times to zero in my sig air reflex sight) edit : also like any airgun or real gun... DONT pull the trigger if you are not aiming at the target you want to hit (which applies during field strips by default)
I don't know why the slide is useless.... the slide release doesn't do anything either. I hear ppl saying no co2 gun will have a slide catch. My walther cp99 compact co2 uses the slide and slide release button.
What you neglected to mention is that the M17 can be field stripped just like the real thing. Also the blowback function is to reset the internal hammer.

@Kev Campbell I'm seriously about to pull the trigger on a KWC 1911, do you have any experience with those? It seems like the best 1:1 replica of a 1911 from what I've seen on youtube.
@Kev Campbell I'm in the market for something military grade (cheap but works) lol. In my opinion, the more moving parts it has the more likely it is it fail, especially since most of them are made using cheap labor in Asia. My logic is since the 1911's reputation is that it's a classic functional design that just works, that maybe that would translate into the replica designs.
Can u do this again with what pellets fit into that belt?? The gamo lethals don't fit they're top tall. Probably the same with anything pellet that's not completely flat
You compared the reduction in trigger pull weight on a hammer fired 226 and a striker fired 320. The trigger feel including pull weight or "effort" goes from long, heavy double action to shorter light single action with the hammer fired gun. On a real centerfire P320 the slide only moves about an inch to reset the striker/trigger. A full slide stroke is required to cock a hammer fired gun such as P226. I enjoyed your review but some newbies expectations on the trigger may be negatively influenced by this comparison. Thanks for the review .
I have a real Sig P320 Compact but with 9mm being so hard to get and I am not going to use my saved up stash I am going to get one of these. Looks like it is well made and not to mention cost effective. Btw has anyone told you that you look a lot like Jay Harrington on the SWAT Tv show.
To pick one, it would be the M17. It has an easier magazine to load, and even though the trigger is not affected by the blowback, it has a lighter trigger than the PPQ. Definitely the M17. Happy Shooting!👍😉

Dig the magazine and easy co2 pearcing. The bad aim is the big thing for me. I would not enjoy shooting 6 inches off point of aim. Pass for me, but thanks for the quality review.
I have the Sig M17 replica and it's not my favorite handgun, that goes to my awesome Glock 17 mk IV blowback and the Glock 19 non blowback but the Glock shoots bb's and I wanted a realistic pellet semi auto and I got it for that reason. My other pistols are the Crosman 2300s and 2240xl which are my preferred guns for plinking.
Nice review! The pistol looks great and love the tan color. I’m not a fan of the slide and it’s nonfunctional blowback. Still looks like a fun plinking pistol though.
I own the m17 & the P320 with the 30 round belt fed.I love both guns & they are both fun plinkers indeed. Are you familiar with the Gamo PT-85 Desert Attack? I saw a few review videos on youtube, but they all seem to be from overseas, and not so many reviews in the US.
It is identical to the US PT-85 with the tan frame. I have a PT-85 Socom. It has a longer barrel and produces much higher fps. I need to do a review on that one.
@@AirgunDetectives Yes, I think it would be an interesting gun to review. I guess I can’t ask what are your thoughts about it now, since it could potentially end up in a review video 😅?
I bought this gun as well and I give it a 2.5-3 as well. I don't like the slight movement/looseness when taking it right out of the Box and giving it a gentle shake. That along with hitting target's acutely is my problems with this gun
I recently got this sig Sauer M17 about a week ago. I totally agree on your 3/5 score for this airgun. This looks great, feels good in the hand, it has a standard accessory rail, and the innovative CO2 loading are all great! But everything else is really disappointing on this, at this price point. Low FPS, low number of shots per CO2 cartridge, useless and non-locking slide, kinda heavy and notchy double-action only trigger, non-adjustable sights, mine shoots low (6" low at 30 feet). I wouldn't not recommend this. I'll probably leave it on display, instead of shooting it. There are other airguns much more fun to shoot with. I wish Sig Sauer did a steel BB version of their airsoft version of this airgun instead of this.
Update to my previous comment. This airgun has now gone back in its box (yes it does come in a nice box, no dreaded plastic clamshell here) and I will not shoot it anymore. I really didn't enjoy it. I'll probably try to sell it (been used only for about 12 magazines). I wish I could get a refund from Sig Sauer for having produced such a disappointing airgun. Looks aren't everything. I've got much better airguns in my collection. Some very nice 1911 and a Glock 17 Gen 4 (both BB with functional blowback). I also have the rather expensive German-made Umarex non-blowback pellet airgun which is much more accurate and powerful than this Sig Sauer M17.
I want this for looks for the most part, the fact it’s got an extended mag is a selling point for me. I don’t plan on shooting only for collection, do you think it’s still not worth it.
@@SEVEN-sg5rb For that purpose sure, because it looks very close to the real thing (only very minor cosmetic differences). It looks great! Go for it. Also note that many owners are satisfied with its performance also. If you didn't have a blowback pellet airgun before, you might be too.
@@AlainHubert I’ve had 2 blowback pellet guns both costed me less than $35. I hear your complaint very often that the m17s performance is lacking for the price point. How much did u pay for yours?
@@SEVEN-sg5rb Around $180 CAD ($145 USD) brand new. So it's not quite an inexpensive airgun. That's one of the reasons why I was expecting a little better. But it comes in a very nice box, not the dreaded and awful plastic clamshell.
I would love to find something of the same mag style as the m17 but without a blow back and at 495fps. Since I live in Canada I'll need a permit to carry something above 500fps but if it's 499 fps or under no problem so I'm looking for the perfect hand co2 pistol that can accommodate power and versatile and definitely no single shot stuff. I find it very annoying to have to pump etc.. idk maybe I'm asking for too much or Maybe I have to go to the Russian market?
I just purchase 3 of these for resale they are manufactured refurbs. If they sell well I am going to buy more. I have the m17 9mm fire arm so I am looking forward to playing with these when they arrive. Great review I just subbed.
I want to know why (that i can find) theres not a “pellet” gun that locks back its slide when mag is empty? I’ve found BB and/or air-soft guns that do.. but not pellet guns? i have a Gamo p25 and at least it cocks the hammer. Would also make sense if you can see a round through the window. Whats the point? Haha all i see is the magazine. I dont know about that SS mag but with the Gamo mag they could notch where the pellets load to be able to see a round. If they want to make it more realistic.. just makes sense.
Honestly I admit I've checked liked n also seen p320 that also had a 30 mag but the CO2 is in the grip stick slides in pretty neat this I'm sad that they didn't add no blowback option yea as far as the no single / dual action they can release a kit to convert it if it's not functional but also it does cock nothing so it's pointless if the hammer ain't moving n also if it spends co2 just for realism ain't the best but it's good gun wish it was ready for silencer if they do release a kit for no blowback it be nice if they release a kit for the hammer to function spare barell I'd like if they can do the Gamo tactical p84 or something release a barell that has the threaded barrel sticking out after install you have to put the silencer fake to cover it up but it's longer ain't bad really it looks nice also I hope that they put a spare 226 hammer so you can cock manual too maybe second m17 version by the point also one thing I don't like much on eject mag leaks little co2
I got mine but whenever I put in a new co2 cartridge and close it, it just explodes in my hand. I'm using the crossman co2 cartridges if that matters, can someone help me out maybe I'm dumb
How would this pellet gun do to drive off wildlife like a coyote or bobcat? I've never shot an air gun and I was thinking about something for hiking without lugging around the real thing.
@@AirgunDetectivesI am not sure if that is actually true to the fact that when metal food can that only 15 ft away does not get hardly penetrated by high-quality grain pellet its something to question

I've looked at this thing a few times, like it that it's a pellet pistol and not bb's. Not a huge co2 fan, but just thinking about snakes that I've taken out with one, worth having a good one around. I was thinking if I buy a nice one it will probably be this one.
@@SEVEN-sg5rb
Around $180 CAD ($145 USD) brand new. So it's not quite an inexpensive airgun. That's one of the reasons why I was expecting a little better. But it comes in a very nice box, not the dreaded and awful plastic clamshell.
Is there any pistol with similar magazine like this one ?
Which do you prefer the M17 or the P226?
Are special 12gram co2 cartiges nessesary
In your opinion what's the strongest co2 pistol that you have tried. With the best FPS
In BB or pellet?
@@AirgunDetectives pellets
I would love to find something of the same mag style as the m17 but without a blow back and at 495fps. Since I live in Canada I'll need a permit to carry something above 500fps but if it's 499 fps or under no problem so I'm looking for the perfect hand co2 pistol that can accommodate power and versatile and definitely no single shot stuff. I find it very annoying to have to pump etc.. idk maybe I'm asking for too much or Maybe I have to go to the Russian market?
How many shots can you fire with one co2 cartridge
can you have it laoded for a week ?. Would it fire or will the gas leak ?.
I just purchase 3 of these for resale they are manufactured refurbs. If they sell well I am going to buy more. I have the m17 9mm fire arm so I am looking forward to playing with these when they arrive. Great review I just subbed.
Welcome...With the price of ammo now, these are great to practice with and develop that muscle memory. 👍
@@AirgunDetectives Thanks I agree I am hoping to see better shooting at the range after practicing with these.
Will this shoot pointed pellets?
So which gun has blowback but single stage trigger do you recommend with best reviews???
Look at my "Co2 Pistol" Playlist on this channel and you may find something you like 👍
I got mine but whenever I put in a new co2 cartridge and close it, it just explodes in my hand. I'm using the crossman co2 cartridges if that matters, can someone help me out maybe I'm dumb
I thought it’s model after th p320 which has no hammer and the sticker fire give same trigger pull every time
Do co2s need threads
What’s your highest rated BB guns hand gun? I saw the glock 19 with high ratings. Anyone other ones I can add to my hobby?
Look under my "Playlist" I have 5 star guns in their own category. 👍😉
I need a multi round air pistol powerful enough to dispatch 10 lb rabbits by back of head shot. Can you make a recommendation?
This would work Beeman 2027 amzn.to/3xSI7dt
Showing her now
How would this pellet gun do to drive off wildlife like a coyote or bobcat? I've never shot an air gun and I was thinking about something for hiking without lugging around the real thing.
Could the pellet m17 be lethal ?
Have you done a review on the gamo p430 with the fps rating at 495 as they claim. I would love to see what the corypgraph shows
Question do you think the Sig M17 air gun is more powerful than Sig Sauer P320
Identical velocity!😉👍
@@AirgunDetectivesI am not sure if that is actually true to the fact that when metal food can that only 15 ft away does not get hardly penetrated by high-quality grain pellet its something to question
What about slow leaks
It would also be nice if they couldn't make 12g canisters filled with pepper spray that could be used without pellets. Increased options.
You have to release the trigger all the way to reload it?
You are a great good plinker
Thanks 👍
Yea, you definitely need the walther ppq, I shoot rws sport line 7.0 grain(I swear these pellets were designed for the walther pistols lol)and i'm getting less than 1inch groups. If you shot this then the walther, you'd swear you were shooting a real burner lol. It's just that good. Ok..i'll shut up about the ppq now as I've commented on another video about it. But it's just so damn gooood
I have the CP99 and the CP88 and they both shoot really well. I will feature them in the future. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching!
@@AirgunDetectives nice. The cp88 competition model is on my list, I want to get a rifle next probably the bushmaster and then I'll order the cp88. I'm still waiting for the new Webley BMX pistol, which is is suppose to be an upgrade to the nemesis. Too many damn models I want and not enough time lol. Keep the vidscoming, you're running a nice channel
@@AirgunDetectives V..MX I meant
I have a ppq love it just ordered this m17
My magazine is not like that at all. I just picked up one of these sigs and it def does not have that magazine. Mines doesnt have a double action trigger either. Where did you get this one from? Alloy pellets and lead also? Mines shoots plastic bbs
Everything was cool until the magazine co2 start to fail after a couple hundred shots, cannot seal no more
Love the channel and the honesty . Hooked on watching please keep the videos coming...
Reno, Thanks for watching. I hope to have a new video out every Friday! Your comments are appreciated.
I have the same gun
Does it have a picitilly rail?
Yes it does..👍
Yes pellets can bounce back I did a video about it
it wont bounce back if you shoot someone with it
Where can u buy
Hi. Could you please review the p226
That will be coming in the next couple of weeks👍
How much to order
This gun has a removable plate for a red dot.Sig released the red dot later down the line.
What are your thoughts on using this for training purposes? Will the mags fit a Kydex mag holster for reloading drills?
I've looked at this thing a few times, like it that it's a pellet pistol and not bb's. Not a huge co2 fan, but just thinking about snakes that I've taken out with one, worth having a good one around. I was thinking if I buy a nice one it will probably be this one. I can't use a heavy trigger, not big on the accuracy of this gun, it does look nice, but I can say I have a thirty dollar Daisy Powerline 450 from Wally world that really surprises me, it's my go too for snakes, and stuff like that. Nice video, appreciate the review, I now know the heavy trigger on this one will probably not be my cup of tea, already have one I can't mess with because of the heavy trigger. Thanks again for the great video and honest review, it's hard to find honesty about these things.
Thanks for watching! My goal is to release a new video every Friday. 👍
I only shoot alloy pellets
I'm on the edge to buy in Canada...it is 149 right now at Cabelas but the fact it shoots so off boggles my mind. Why haven't they fixed it? I could yous a laser?
You might get one that is accurate with the open sights. If not you can get a red dot or a laser.
@@AirgunDetectives I never realized until now that there are slots for a red dot, makes sense now!
