Such great stories. I always had high hopes that we would get to see these stories in movie format. They had all these great stories and characters at their fingertips. Instead we get Rey......... 😐😑 ROSW was the first Star Wars movie I never saw, still haven't seen it. Never plan on it.
I just read the short story Lightsider and despite it’s status as non-canon, it really fleshes out Kam’s character and makes his redemption feel more poignant. Please give it a read as it helps to iron the details left out of Dark Empire ll.
I hope someday someone gives Lightsider something neat like a fan made audio drama with illustrations. I would love to see the Lightsider game visualized. I tried to adapt it for my fan made KOTOR 3 Star Wars dnd campaign.

Despite not being a great fan of the Dark Empire series, I will contend that it is probably the closest the EU ever got to a proper sequel to the OT. Everybody always says the Thrawn trilogy should have been made into EVII-IX, but I don't buy that, it's too bloated, too boring for an average consumer, there are barely any lightsaber duels and it's just more of a follow-up rather than a proper send-off. It's not that a Dark Empire sequel trilogy would not be, but it would most definitely have worked out as a competent trilogy had they made it back in the '90s instead of going ahead with the prequels. I primarily like the set pieces we could have gone this way: the World Devastators wrecking Mon Calamari, the battle of Balmorra (which is thankfully not another Hoth), Nar Shaddaa... the list goes on. But it would need to be early '90s, with practical effects similar to the OT. CGI would have ruined it.
Yup, I had to make up my own leitmotifs for characters and planets. So Jem & Ossus got Reys theme because of how mysterious and joyful it sounds, and Sedress got a section of Kylos theme
I like the comic pictures but I wish I could read the whole frame. I'm sad I missed out on all these audio dramas, comics, and games as a kid. Never knew about this stuff.

Star Killer Base would have been a better super weapon than the galaxy gun maybe the star killer laser would have been build on Byss instead of that ice planet this would have made the second book better
Why would he get screen time in this story? He's dead now. Like, I could see him getting one or two scenes as a Force Ghost within the EU, but you can't overuse that. There's good reason the last time Obiwan could Force Ghost Commune with Luke was at the beginning of Heir to the Empire. The current generation has to stand on their own feet.

I love everything about this. I grew up at the end of the legends era and want to read every great story that I've missed out on.
Luke's social/home life cant catch a break, FINALLY meets a Lady he can get together with, and 2 days later...dead
