Back in the early 80's I was living between NYC / Seattle and San Diego - Tom filled a lot of travel time (on my Walkman) setting the mood for the day...
    Thanks for memories Tom

I so wish that I'd been there at the Bottom Line the night this was recorded. So many of my musical heroes were gathered on the stage that night. I was born at the wrong time. Guess I should just be happy that somebody had the wisdom to record all those incredible musicians as they were making this wonderful music.

The Happy feet and hands of Steve Gadd and Richard Tee. They drop into a deep Stuff style groove that brims with smiles. Marcus Miller signs, seals and delivers one of his best performances of his life on this album. In my opinion, he didn't play enough with Steve.

I used to play the heck out of this LP on my old turntable back home at my Mom's old house in Cali, back in the early 80's, love this song.

this record is a total treasure
it's a VERY young Marcus Miller who holds down the low end like a seasoned wizened pro here ... was he even 20 for this session?!

Tom Scott playing the lyricon. He was one of the few that ever mastered it and will be one of the last as the company who made it went out of business as they couldn’t generate enough sales from it.

West coast Jazz? I dont quite agree. This was recorded live at the Bottom Line, NYC and features a band of New York heavyweights, alla studio legends. Classic concert BTW

This dog mellows me out too much to argue with you . . . but it's West Coast Jazz, no doubt, the groove, the performers, and the instrumentation. They just happened to be playing on the East coast that night. Almost 40 years later and I get goosebumps
