How short can a freight train be?
Class 43s on Network Rail Test Train
Freight trains
Passenger trains
in 4 Hours at Carlisle 01 July 24
I went to Carlisle's Citadel Station, despite the wind and rain, to see what I assumed was a Class 807 heading for Darlington en route to Hitachi's Newton Aycliffe factory.
I was also expecting some light engine and civol engineer's movements together with a Network Rail test train topped and tailed by Class 43s.
What I didn't expect was a TransPennine Express 397 failing. You may say a failed windscreen wiper is a petty reason to cancel a train - but would you drive your car at 110MPH through wind and rain without your wipers? And I don't mean without a wiper blade - with the whole mechanism failed!
The two Engineer's trains did seem a little silly - one wagon heading to Tyne Yard and two wagons for Crewe!
In recent weeks the log train empties have been returning in a morning from Chirk to Carlisle.
Also Mid-week Cement empties heading to Castle Cement at Clitheroe.
Definitely a day of variety

It’s great to see perfectly framed and steady shots in your films. Some other RUclipsrs could learn a lot by paying attention to your films and how you edit them.
@@GenreFilmsUK it's noticeable how one or two are taking notice of my work and trying to improve. However I wish I could get the views that some lower standard videos get. Still I appreciate viewers like yourself who appreciates a bit more quality
Keep on filming, you’ll get there.
@@GenreFilmsUK keeping at it!

Great video as usual.

I could have seen this but I didn’t realise it was a 807! Nice video
@@Zander_Trains if you see a train from oxley to or from Darlington then it's possible it's an 807 running under the eires
Thanks for your time and effort.

So, it looks like the 807s will be going into service soon. Great video and mix, as per usual. I really liked the cement mixer haul for some reason. Go figure! Could use that rain here.
@@ModelTrainOutsider thanks Anthony. That cement train is becoming popular
Excellent Les. 👍👍
Thanks!
Thank you ...... been wondering how those EMPTY Chirk wagons got back home !!!
@@PeterClarke-p2r they have been appearing in daytime in the last few weeks but had been running overnight previously
That 807 didn't sound too clever!
I'll be honest I didn't really notice but it will get sorted at Newton Aycliffe
Are there milometers on trains?
Mileometer even
@@breeze1472 I think the Eurostars might but not otherwise - apart from in the cabs
hi, great video, the thing is who asked for these ghastly hitachi trains ?, iam sure the public prefer standard rolling stock like the mk2d's with comfortable seating and a loco at the front, don't we get asked or is it, we do what we want and "F" you
@@petersmith4455 I think in the UK unit trans are with us for the foreseeable. However make them less crowded with comfy seats - the ones in the Midland Pullman hst are excellent - and we'd have trains to be respected.
