What legacy do you usually choose?

When I'm not playing a Norse game I always take the first 3 legacies in Blood first. It's extremely powerful when taken early but is weaker the later you take it. Even that first legacy of 30% better chance of good traits is amazing. After 300 years of marrying people with good traits or *ahem* strategic family breeding you will have a legacy of demi-gods. It's definitely weaker early that most of the other trees but it is probably the strongest late game.

I always go with the blood line

I really enjoy grabbing the first 2 in kin and the first 3 in blood. You can educate your children very well and also reinforce some great inheritance traits. This works great with the first 2 perks in scholar tree that let's you educate better and get quicker research. Next go for a university to really make your heirs shine.
Also, a new legacy in Iberian dlc (they can only be picked during the struggle so don't wait) it's the first one that can be picked and makes it so family can be appointed in your court positions for free, fired for free and work for free. Great early game, even if their poor or avg it'll still be better to have all your positions filled for free instead of only the few you can afford. This also will synergies well with having very well educated and capable family members later on.

They fixed the dlc legacies. They can be chosen after the struggle is over now.

I would say Erudition, Glory, and Kin are the best. Pilliage is the most OP but i dont ever raid unless im a viking which works out nice i guess since i cant raid or use pillage if im not north german anyways. The dread and terror perks of guile is underrated no matter how you play. Blood sounds good but its a waste of legacies because you can make an OP bloodline without it.

It being tied to marrying into every family you can see is it's biggest problem.
If I want to play a legendary isolation kingdom on an island while keeping to myself, I am screwed.
It is ok to be somewhat impactes by that, but really, family prestige across all members is what should count.

It simulates how society views dynasties in real life. The truly legendary dynasties are ones like Charlamagne, not ones confined to an island. No one is really doing their own thing growing your dynasty for you. Its a legit pyramid scheme lol. Everyone kicks up a cut but they have to do their own thing independent of you.

So you are telling me, If I am playing the equivalent of Alexander the Great, the man where kings fought wars just to allegedly associate with him but who's line was really thin and quickly died out besides him, that a long lost grandson of such a character would not deserve to be awarded dynasty points?
      That sounds just anticlimatic.
In CK2 there was even one heck of an event to "trace yourself back" to Alexander. Being a descended of someone truly great was just as dynastically impactful as was to vitamin B yourself through the whole country.
I'm still more for overall family prestige to calculate renown. This way, you can play wide by marrying across the map or tall by accumulating ungodly amounts of prestige with one ruler.

@@Malforian I've never actually considered the pillage option, I normally grab vargarian guard (good way to kill off unwanted sons or make heir better ) and then beeline blood. I've taken a liking to the law line as well due to the domain limit (helps me keep my home duchy all mine sometimes) as well as the reduced title cost and feast cost for stress and giving children titles or completing an empire title!

Pillage is only great if you play as pure Norse or you are able to RAID, a few updates ago they significantly weakened the Practiced Pirates cultural tradition, that used to allow you to raid as a kingdom but now it only restricted to Dukes and Lower. So unless you do an adventure for the kingdom of Mann and get the Legacy of Piracy modifier for 100 years its complete trash. I use a mod that reverts the Practiced Pirates tradition to Kingdoms and lower, like it used to be. Raiding/Ransom/Winning Battles & Golden Obligations just prints money. Allowing you to stack development, blitz through culture traditions and play tall, or overtake kingdom for fun.

That obvious 😂 this was my first standalone discussion type video and I had to edit it quite a bit due to me messing things up, so that caused it to come off a bit weird I think, I'm trying to get better at it and i got a new microphone that seems to have helped

I try to get all the dlc legacy trees by diverging or entering Iberia.
