Just wow! How did you scent the soap bars? The look gives me the scent of warm cinnamon...

The soap dough is unscented, but the bars are a blend of ginger/spice essential oils and orange to round out the sharpness.

You could possibly replace lard with olive oil, just be sure to recalculate the lye amount. :)

Hi Julie, thanks for sharing! These look amazing. I observed something was moving in your background and I figured it out after seconds it was your dog lol. I love fur babies, a charming video!
May I ask what did you keep in mind when you were formulating the recipe? Is it to keep it softer for longer? I noticed there’s a large portion of lard and some coconut oil. Is it to make it bright white so that we can color later? I would need to lower coconut oil as I don’t have tolerant to larger portion of coconut. Can I just increase lard or use pure type olive in place? Thanks again Julie.

Thanks Ellie! If you're intolerant to that much coconut oil, just increase the lard, for sure. The lard is what makes it more pliable in my experience, so yes, definitely try that. I would not increase the castor anymore than the 20% though. You could also exchange it with some olive too, but your soap won't be quite as white, but that's fine, it will still color nicely.
