EP #3 1965 Gibson SG -- Easy Fix -- Crackly Jack

Easy assessment & fix of 1965 Gibson SG JR with a noisy jack. First we have to duplicate the problem...then figure out the real cause...then fix. In this case it was just some loose controls, oxidation on the jack contacts, and dirty potentiometers, AN EASY FIX.

Officially introduced as the SG junior in 1963. Between 1961- 1963 the guitar was known as a Les Paul Junior using the SG body shape. Solid mahogany body. About 3500 were built in 1965.
Neck had a typical 24 ¾ inch scale length, was one piece mahogany, 22 fret un-bound rosewood fingerboard (usually Brazilian until about mid 1965), dot inlays, nut width was 1 11/16th inch until mid-1965 when it went to 1 9/16th , neck joined body at the 22nd fret. Neck feel was a full “C” shape. Headstock had silkscreen Gibson logo.
Pickup was one P-90 with black plastic dog cover. Volume and tone for the pickup. Bridge was a Wrap Around bridge/tailpiece (die-cast zinc, with pre-compensated saddles). The pre-compensation was for a wound G string. Because of this these guitars never intonated well. It was always a compromise.
Nickel plated parts until sometime in 1965. Potentiometer values were 500K ohms audio taper. Kluson strip tuners with white buttons. Vibrato as option. 3-ply black pickguard.
