You can hold down shift when you click to keep the orientation facing towards you. Sometimes the subject matter causes the scale to be really large and then you have to scale it down.
Excellent, thank you! The move to put color above track and also holding shift while positioning pointer helped me figure this out....small details that are often missed in tutorials. Thank you for being thorough 🙂
Dude nice work! I have been contemplating getting MTracker 3D but can’t decide since I usually use after effects for my VFX composites. But this may sway me! Gonna finish watching this when I get the chance.
Yeah I’ve also been using After Effects for this kind of tracking in the past it’s really cool to have this capability in FCPX with mTracker 3D. I’m excited to use it more to see what I can create with it. If you have any questions about it, let me know 😊👊🏼
Awesome! Welcome to the channel 😄🙌🏼 There are loads of videos you might find helpful. I'd be interested to know if you are struggling with anything specific in FCP?
Is there a way to apply some kind of "track-motion smoothness" so that if the cameraman is not holding the camera too steadily (say he's walking) , and the footage is "bouncy", the models you add later - and paste the track info to - don't bounce at the same "abruptness rate", so that they look like they're floating in the air instead? So that, at 11.50 for eaxmple, the Polaroid photo items you added could be made to "float" in midair more smoothly/steadily?
That would be a great feature. You could probably recreate that by adding some keyframes to the vertical position of the polaroids to make them look like they are hovering a bit more. Might take a bit of work to get it looking natural but it's possible.
Thanks 😊👍🏼 I am currently using 10.5.1 (Catalina though). On their website MotionVFX says that it’s compatible with the M1 chip so it should work perfectly with your setup. Thanks for watching 😊
You think you could do a tutorial on using tracker 3D and keying to motion track a green screen? They did one but they only showed it for Motion. Love your content! Just subscribed.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into it. I know Motion has a built in tracker which works a little differently to mTracker 3D’s tracking. 😊 Thanks for the support 😊🙏🏼
thanks for the video and good examples! would be cool if you have showed us a short overview what is included in the standalone and in the complete pack. i can‘t figure it out from the website if mTracker alone already comes with some standard titles and stuff. would love to use it for my car videos 🤓 thanks!
Thanks for watching 😊 The screen recording at about 01:50 shows you what comes with the standalone plugin. In fact, everything I used in this video comes from the standalone plugin (except for the emojis which are free anyway). The bundle comes with 50 extra captions presets, 50 pointers (different pins, flags, indicators, etc) as well as 50 extra title presets. Hope that helps! 😊 Let me know if you have any other questions 👊🏼
Another great video - thanks for it 😊 Sir one question please, what's the different between final cut pro and final cut pro x? Which one is better? I'm from Austria and I would like to buy a mac, there's final cut pro with it (325 euro), don't think it's expensive or should I buy final cut pro separate? I would be thankful if you could give some tips! Thanks alot in advance and have a great night 😊
Thanks for watching 😊 Final Cut Pro X only recently dropped the “X” and it’s just called Final Cut Pro now, but it’s the same thing. Whether you buy your Mac from Apple with FCP pre-installed or you buy it afterwards from the App Store, it’s the same software. Either way you will be able to update it from the App Store when new versions come out. I would assume you get some kind of discount by having it preinstalled but I’m not sure. Hope that helps 😊 Btw, I love Austria! 🇦🇹😄
@@Brad_West Thank you so much for the fast reply and your time ☺ Yes, then you should give it a visit 😀 Where could I get discount one in your opinion? ☺ BTW, I love your videos and gonna watch them more as soon as my mac here. Have a great time and stay safe
I’ve been to Austria twice, Vienna (once) and Sölden (twice) 😄🙌🏼 I have never actually seen FCPX discounted unless you’re a student (in which case I think you can apply for student discount). Thanks for watching the videos and hopefully you get your Mac soon. You stay safe too Joe 😊👊🏼
So those LUTs are from the Cinepunch Bundle and they already come pre-packaged as drag and drop LUTs. But you could probably create your own presets by selecting the LUT you want to use via the drop down menu the way you normally do, and then at the bottom of the inspector window click on Save Effects Preset. I go through this in more detail in my 7 Hidden Features in FCPX video. 😊👍🏼
I think mTracker 3D allows you to do more advanced tracking. mTracker tracks the cameras movement and allows you to put objects in 3D space as if they were in the scene. The built-in tracker is more of a 2D that tracks specific pixels. Having said that, there is a fair amount of overlap and the built in tracker now allows you to do some of what mTracker 3D is capable of 😊👍🏼
Hi Brad very nice work, after watching you video I am very much interested to buy this plugin but just wondering will it run smoothly on my 2019 13” MacBook Pro? Subscribed
Hey Christian. The blockbuster LUT is part of the Cinepunch bundle which you can find here: 1.envato.market/qeKrY I also talk more about the bundle in my 10 Best Free Plugins video if you want to see what else is part of the bundle. 😊👍🏼
Hey Gavin. Unfortunately not, but if you follow the link in the video and head to the MotionVFX website, you can sign up to their email list. If you’re not in a rush to buy, I’d suggest signing up and waiting for a discount code 😊
I don’t believe that it is possible with mTracker 3D. I would love to see a good rotoscoping plugin for FCPX. I’ve always resorted to After Effects for my rotoscoping needs.
Whenever I've seen an mTracker 3D tutorial, they always hold the shift key to place the position gizmo so that the axes "ignore" the tracked orientation (?). Why is that? In which case would you want to NOT hold the shift key and let the gizmo's axes free to point wherever they are pointing?
What sometimes happens if you don't press shift is that the text is rotated at a strange angle due to the way the tracker identified objects in the scene. The reason a lot or people do it is so that the text is directly facing the viewer and then they can adjust the angle or point of view from that starting point.
@@Brad_West I see - makes sense now. I thought maybe there was a reason for this automatic axes-positioning (eg some situations in which it would be better to not hold shift down - maybe to, for example, place the object on a wall that’s maybe vertical). If not then it would make sense to have the default positioning the way the shift key pressing places it, without needing to hold shift; and if you want the opposite to happen, hold shift for that situation. I mean, usually the “common situation“ should not require holding shift, not the opposite..
Agreed! It should be the other way around. I guess some people want mTracker 3D to determine the orientation as opposed to doing it manually themselves. Happy to help! 😄🤙🏼 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
When I use my gizmo to place the object or title, the object or title disappear and are usually somewhere way up above my footage (like in the sky) and usually very large. Is there a way to have it appear like yours did once you click off of the gizmo?
You can hold down shift to orient it towards you and if the text disappears off screen, try decreasing the scale. Sometimes it starts off really large. Hope that helps!
For some reason when I add mTracker 3D to a clip in Final Cut... i get a red alert image in the playback and I cant use the clip. I I just purchased this so I'm so confused. Any suggestions ?
That’s odd. That usually means it’s a compatibility issue with your FCPX version but I know mTracker 3D is compatible with Big Sur and the M1 chip. I had a different issue when I first installed the plugin and reinstalling FCPX worked for me. The best advice I can give you is to contact the MotionVFX support team. They are great and they should help you get it working. Be sure to tell them your OS version and FCPX version 😊
mTracker 3D would be the equivalent of Motion Track in AE, that is, you track the scene, and then you can add whatever you want inside that scene, be it HUD, 3D elements and so on. Because all you need to do is apply the Parent to the Null Object that has the camera movement. Doesn't mTracker 3D seem limited in this? that is, you are obliged to use only the elements that are in the "Titles" tab, that is, if you want to use a HUD downloaded from the internet for example and apply it to the scene, you cannot, because in addition to mTracker 3D, the Titles have direct integration with that plugin (by looking at the "Paste Track" button). Is mTracker 3D really limited in this? and detail, to have depth of field, you need to mask the objects, with rotoscoping, so what to do in this case? if you're going to use AE for small adjustments, it's better to do everything there at once, right?
You are correct. There is a drop zone title preset that you can use to add any other element that you want. If I’m doing complicated tracking and motion graphics, I tend to default to after effects because I’m very comfortable in after effects with that, whereas it’s nice to have the ability in FCP for a quick track and adding something into the scene quickly.
I'm not 100% sure. I haven't tried it myself but you could try dropping a solid over your footage, using the draw mask to create the shape of the property lines, add a second draw mask effect to cut out the middle (essentially creating a border) and track that. Then, depending on the movement of your shot, you might need to keyframe the masks. That's what I would try but I'm not 100% sure that will work. Let me know if you try it out 😊
I haven’t used PFS Autotracker myself but from what I can see, mTracker 3D gives you way more flexibility in terms of shadows and including 3D text/objects in 3D space in your scene. PFS Autotracker will track position, scale and rotation which is good to track a very specific point so I guess it depends on what you need to track. Thanks for watching Sergio 😊🙏🏼
