Amanda Maier (1853-1894): Piano Trio in E flat - A rediscovered masterpiece!

World Premiere Recording: Piano Trio in E flat major (1st mov.) by Amanda Maier (1853-1894), performed by Cecilia Zilliacus/violin, Kati Raitinen/cello, and Bengt Forsberg/piano. (Mikael Forsberg, page turner).
Amanda Maier's great grand-son Reinier Thiadens tells the amazing story of this splendid, happy work from 1873-74, that were hidden among the family papers all these years, waiting to be brought back to life.

Thanks also to the Stockholm Music & Theatre Library, where most of Amanda Maier's original manuscripts, diaries and photos are kept.
There is nothing that proves that the piano trio was ever played in public during Amanda Maier's and Julius Röntgen's lifetime, so it seems that the official world premiere performance was made on 20 April 2018, when Zilliacus-Raitinen-Forsberg performed it at a public concert in Umeå, Sweden. They also played it in Stockholm on 7 May 2018, and have since then performed it several times in public, contributing to its success.
The complete work was recorded by the Swedish record label dB Productions in May 2018 and released in October 2018 on "Amanda Maier: Volume 3" (dBCD188), the last volume of dB Productions series with the complete works by this outstanding, Swedish composer and violinist, who went to Leipzig at age 20, met Julius Röntgen whom she married in 1880 and then spent the rest of her life in Amsterdam.
"Amanda Maier: Volume 3" received the 2019 GRAMMIS AWARD in the category "CLASSICAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR".
