- Pannier tank 7714 cuts a lonely figure as it battles it's way through heavy snow on the Severn Valley Railway. Shots like these are rare in the UK, so I was glad my gamble paid off as I was about 30 minutes away from getting marooned as the intensity of the snow increased and the roads became treacherous. I hope you enjoy.
That whistle at the end was so perfect, wow!
my beloved 7714🥰 being an absolute trooper once again
My reaction as the train approached in the opening shot: Oh My Goodness! It even has the old-fashioned acetylene lamps! I bet they're even driven by the old method of dripping water onto carbide. :)
That's a lovely old steam loco and your takes were very cinematic and beautifully done.
Beautiful, just ruddy beautiful. You are a trooper and you have a very artistic eye.
Barry.Devon.
The Trains, Countryside and the Snow - what a wonderful combination. Very beautifully caught - you are brave being out in that weather Mr Marsh.
Sat at home in Kidderminster watching the snow. You're brave! Nice video, really evocative.
Thank you for making my day. What a jolly little puffer she is. That was some snow storm !
I love This Engine Type. The Panniers just Looks so Awesome!
Well done for getting cold and grabbing some fantastic shots. Great stuff.
What a beautifully done, nostalgic little video. A treat in both landscape and engineering.
No snow where I am in Ontario, Canada yet. Great video, very enjoyable. At one point the snow is so thick and the sky so grey it looked like an old black and white film. Well done.
Lovely footage, there's something about the sound of a steam engine that just can't be beat.
Awesome video! :-) It's so wonderful when it really snows like this. And I'm glad I wasn't the only one out in this either!! :-D
Wonderful stuff! I stood cold and frozen years ago at an East Broad Top Winter Spectacular shooting 35mm B&W and remember how cold it was! Thanks for braving the weather and giving us these brilliant views.
COMPLIMENTI PER QUESTO BEL FILMATO DI QUESTO TRENO DI EPOCA STUPENDO BELLISSIMO PANORAMA INNEVATO GRAZIE DALLA SICILIA UN CARO SALUTO GIUSEPPE
Love the filming Liam. Brilliant seeing steam in the snow. Richard
Brilliant video, well done for braving what looked to be pretty extreme conditions. Thanks for sharing
Absolutely magnificent footage, especially from 1:45 onwards and then again on the return trip! We've visited the SVR more then 10 years ago, but we are sure to come again. Kind regards from Robert in Austria
My,Oh!,My. Wow,you deserve a medal,or,commendation for sheer tenacity. Brilliant video. I felt a tad guilty, curled up in front of a raging wood heater. Well done. Yessss, definitely a contender for video of the year.
Steel, steam, copper, coal and glass combining in action... in the snow. Just awesome!
Blimey! 7714 certainly put on a good show in that snowstorm. It's a miracle she didn't get stuck in a snowdrift. She's a game little engine, proving that she won't let anything get the better of her and that includes a snowstorm.
Lovely smooth panning, perfection. Great job
What a marvelous piece of filming. I see I'm not the only one who was reminded of a Christmas card, especially the scene with the train making its way through the blowing snow. We don't have quite that much snow here in northern Illinois yet, thankfully.
Wonderful video! You don't have to be mad to get shots like this but it sure helps!
Absolutely stunning. I can see a set of Christmas cards from these shots. Well Done!
You are brave and we are the lucky ones ! Thank you.
Superb shots !
This video was just brilliant . And you deserve a medal ha ha . Thank you both
If that was a Santa special, it must have been pretty magical experience for the passengers. That second shot was fabulous.
Sitting here in the warm and dry enjoying this super video captures all that is best of our preserved lines. Super choice of viewpoint, stark, wintery landscape (almost trans Siberian at times)dedicated few , hopefully, enjoying a Christmas' themed lunch.Thank you for giving this octogenerian moments of enjoyment. All power to your viewfinder!
That is one hell of a piece of footage. Brilliant.
Wonderful! After watching this I'll really enjoy running with winter settings in Train Simulator :)
Cheers from Sweden, Anders
bravo, boy did that gamble pay off. we called them match-boxes when we were kids in the 50,s loads of them, used for shunting goods wagons at handsworth new road good yard.
Thanks for your hard work in showing this, you must have been cold, but what a sight.
Well done Liam...The Blizzard shot has to be one of the best iv'e seen in a long time.....Great video....Steve.
Amazing, well done! Your being out in the cold and snow paid off! Well done!
Epic footage!! Probably the best I’ve seen in a very long time. Congratulations and well done!
Fair play, I find it hard enough to drag myself out of The Railwayman's Arms when it's cold, never mind when it's snowing!
One of your best Liam! Incredible clarity of light by the Safari park.
Fair play to you and to the crew of this loco for being out in this!
What a great scene, Steam and snow. Is there any better combination?
Excellent Liam, reminds me of a similar venture back in the early 90's when Blizzards came in, but the footage was out of this World....Compliments of the Season to you and your Dad....Bob
What a treat with your 'Turkey & Roasties' !
If this was shot in B&W you would be forgiven to thing this was 1930's. Great video.
Forgot to mention, you seem to have captured on film a family of deer on the hillside, near the shed. What a nice addition!
Liam, instantly Liked, instantly added to a Playlist - I don't normally use the word 'awesome' but this really is. Right from the start, the detail of the flame in the lamp caught my attention and there are so many scenes in your video that would make superb Christmas cards! If there were a Video of the Year award, this would get my nomination. Thank you so much and have a very happy Christmas. Best wishes, Bob.
Excellent, just wonderful how the Pannier tank seems to be struggling through the snow in the beautiful Severn Valley. Well done. David. Derby
Beautiful images!
Merry Christmas from the Netherlands!
Great video! Nice seeing a pannier in the snow.
Well done Liam, only you are brave enough to get out there.
looks like the pannier tank was taking it easy at eardington bank possibly due to ice on the track that is more likely to slip the train up and cause the train to lock up the brakes Liam and Phil
Great filming! love the blizzards! just like BR days when they ran in all weathers :)
Where is the multiple like button? Because that video is the bomb!
Wonderful work. Thank you.
A man of steel, well done ! Regards Gav .
Captures the romance of steam to a tee... love it
Excellent coverage Liam It could have been a scene from the S&C in the height of winter at 2:12.....
Regards Phil.
Beautiful shots
All hail the driver. He didn't slip much at the start either.
Well boys, you have excelled yourselves with this wonderful and I imagine, hard won footage! All the best for Christmas and successful shooting in the New Year. Regards, Alan
So majestic
Cracking video, Loving the snow scenes.
Great video.I'm a big fan of yours from Largo,Florida.
So good to see one at speed.
couldn t have been better for a Christmas lunch special! Did they stop after to allow the diners to build a snowman by the trackside?!!!?
Well done and fantastic. Thank you
Love this video
Particular like the scene after the blizzard very panaramic.
Will be watching this on 15h December as it will be 41Celcius.so you can guess im not in !pthe UK.

Do you do 'stills'. I would love one from 3:26 to download and have printed out large format to frame? Absolutely majestic video; all of i.
Great footage!
Fair play! Great video. Thank you
Great Job, Thanks!
that's just brilliant you sure can make a smashing video
I remember in 09 or was it 2010 when tornado rescued passengers, the diesels were frozen up, steam 1 diesel nil
ive seen pics of two 8f's back to back with snow ploughs in 1963, it was so cold the snow was on tops of their boilers
That was electrics, which they want to inflict on everybody
great bit of filming I enjoyed that.
Epic photography
I thought for a moment they were going for a recreation of that famous documentary about trains getting stuck in snowdrifts on the S&C.
wow great video one brave man to get the shots
Superb video!
Great video, well done
Mon Dieu, well done laddie, good on you ole son says it all don't it
a wonderful and very unusual video
Go Duck, go! #GWR!
Great reward for your effort👍👍
3:00 What a great shot!
No snow can stop that engine from pulling a train
Was you stud in that blizzard filming that ? It was bad enough driving in it lol
well done thanks.
Amazing
Hope you didn't get cold!
Why doesnt duck have a snow plow?
Nice !
If it gets any worse they might have to roster some of the steamers off the heritage lines as the electrics are bloody useless in bad snow even diesels have troubles too
Duck’s basis.
Bet its freezing inside the train. Only did one trip on a heritage line in snow...........G.C.R...........think it was to ride behind 70013.........the carriages were damp and freezing cold.............
The SVR has steam heated carriages
A steam train !!!!
Epic photography
