I really like the Meal2Go as mid day on-the-trail food. I take four flavors and cut them up into quarters. I put one piece of each back into the the pouch they came in. I like the variety of four flavors each day instead of one flavor per day.
I teach a high school wildlife survival/ backpacking class as an elective and we are reading your book:). I am an avid backpacker and take women out on trips as well as high school students. It was really cool we stumbled across your video as we were just reading about your starting up your Greenbelly company as I have them researching meal ideas. I will have to order some products to share with my students. Thank you!!
Wow! Too cool. Thanks for sharing. Feel free to reach out if you/ y'all have any questions. And love that you are teaching people how to get outdoors 🙏
Good video. Thanks for sharing. I see some of the same stuff I take, especially the whiskey. I have a food dehydrator and add dehydrated broccoli to just about every meal. The key is to buy the frozen broccoli crowns as they have already been blanched and dehydrate very well. Before I cook any side dish type meals I bring the water almost to a boil and put in the broccoli crowns to soak and rehydrate for a while, then take them out and put them in a zip lock bag on the side while I cook the side dish meal and re-add them at the end. Trader Joe's sells dehydrated Kim Chee that is also good for an added veggie and to spice things up a little.
Very nice, gave me some ideas to try. Going to have to try the breakfast concoction. I already carry some green belly meals and will be again this weekend into the Montana Beartooth mountains. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Chris! Lots of nutrition inspiration for lightweight BIKEpacking trips as well Looks like you must be hiking somewhere remote, enjoy & talk soon!
Hey Chris, just listened to your episode of JRE! Ended up on this video after bonking hard from nothing but PB&J's and Snickers 40 miles into the Connecticut Challenge the other day. Definitely getting some of your bars mail dropped ahead! -Armadillo, AT SOBO
Do you ever have trouble finding the packaged chicken along resupply towns? I know tuna is common. (I’m planning pct.) I do a similar thing with my morning oatmeal mix, but I will either make my oatmeal with coffee or add a super fine coffee grind of my favorite small batch local roaster to my oatmeal mix. People look at me weird, but it kills two birds with one stone!! I also add a fruit nut mix, local honey & cinnamon. I’m not much of a breakfast person in normal life. I gotta coffee first. For adventures, this is a champion breakfast to start the day! I’m gonna have to try some of your Lunch bars sometime soon! They look & sound delicious!!
Most grocery stores will have packaged chicken (good luck at gas stations lol). Nice. Yea, I actually used to sometimes add the instant coffee mix in my oatmeal directly as well. Two points for efficiency. Sounds good. Safe hiking on the PCT Christine!
Chris, thanks I love the videos and content you put out almost as much as Green Belly bars. I used them for breakfast and quick trail lunches last year on my thru hike of the Lone Star trail and will be using them again this year on my thru hike of the Ouachita trail. In the video you mentioned your Pea protein cookie dough oatmeal, can you put a link or the recipe in the comments please?
Thanks so much Joshua. All the best on the Ouachita trail - looks great. Don't have a real recipe. Always just pour it in the bag and mix it to taste. That being said, maybe roughly 1/3 of each (pea protein, cookie mix, oatmeal).
@@Greenbelly Thanks Greg! I was going to ask the same thing. Great video. I'm moving away from the hiker bag meals 3x per day and this helps a lot. I found you guys after watching videos on Kraig Adams channel. Love the quick and nutritious lunch without all the prep work. I'll be taking some out on my multi-day hike of the Pecos Wilderness and Truchas Peaks next month.

Nice! First time heard of someone packing them like that. Hike on George :)
That’s a great idea!

Dope! Thanks Armadillo. Hike on.
Didn’t realize Chris Cage was the creator of the green belly meals! I loved your appearance on Joe Rogan! Also a big fan of the meals!
Thanks Noah! Glad you enjoy the meals. And cheers to Joe - great dude.

Thanks for the video! What kind of cookie mix are u using for breakfast? Also, check out GSI Java drop for pour over coffee.
Honestly, anything and everything. Think this was a Betty Crocker mix.
Nice. That Java drop looks more packable. Thanks :)
Anyone else frustrated with the amount of waste that comes with backpacking meals?
Packaging?
How do you make the chiken last two days after opening? Thanks
What is cookie mix?????
Cookie mix. Mixes can buy it in stores to make... cookies ;)
Total weight ?
Sorry, don't think ever weighed it :(
