Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Hey everyone! Just so there's no confusion, this video was actually filmed before my Bananarama video! The Bananarama video was released much earlier because the record label removed all copyright. Just so that's understood :)

"Venus" is one of those songs where even if you think you haven't heard it, you have. It has been around for over 50 years, and it's been used for many purposes and many adzzzz.

This song was released in 1969 and took over the airwaves. Mariska Veres, the lead singer, and the rest of the band spoke no english and still knocked it out of the park.

Shocking Blue were just an amazing group with an awesome lead singer in Mariska Veres who died of gall bladder cancer. She had a haunting voice in my opinion with a great look. Great song from a legendary group.

The product that used this song was a women's razor for shaving her legs and underarms. Venus is the mythical Goddess, and so it makes sense they'd name a woman's product "Venus."

This song came out in 1969. It's fun that they use older music for commercials. Maybe that should say something about today's music. Hahaha

another grand slam from Shawn, I have always enjoyed this song especially since when the group recorded it they didn’t speak english and yet the proof is in the pudding as to this being a awesome tune. ad always Shawn we all appreciate your efforts to entertain us Thank You.

I remember this group. Shocking Blue was a Dutch rock band formed in 1967. Their 2 biggest hits were "Venus" & "Send Me A Postcard". They had some other songs such as "Long & Lonesome Road", "Mighty Joe", "Never Marry A Railroad Man" etc. The lead singer had a very powerful voice. Another famous Dutch group from that era was Golden Earring.

Also, check out, "Mighty Joe" (which was their followup to "Venus") and "Never Marry a Railroad Man"
The strumming guitar intro in "Venus" is what they are comparing to the "Pinball Wizard". Robbie van Leeuwen is still with us. He is an excellent songwriter and guitarist!

Shawn, this was one of my favorite songs to hear on the radio when I was a little kid. I believe they are Dutch. But damn I had such a crush on her. And as a budding young musician-to-be, I just felt like it was so kinetic and it had so much energy to it, and yet it still had such a colorful personality.

Funny. My Mom was taking me and my siblings out to dinner back in the day. We had the radio on a station popular in Cincinnati OH (WSAI-AM). This song came on and she totally flipped out because she thought it was saying "I'm your fetus" instead of "Venus". She forbade us to ever listen to it again. Well what she didn't know at the time wouldn't have hurt her lol but some years later we let her listen to it again and filled her in. Has been a somewhat fave of hers ever since.

The commercial you're thinking of is for a Lady's Razor for their Legs, etc. It was a big hit. Shock Blue was one of the first bands from Nordic countries before ABBA and Aha.

Shocking Blue was a band from the Netherlands; "Venus" was recorded in 1969, but became a huge hit in the U.S. in 1971. I clearly remember digging it hearing it on the way to and from Kent Junior High School (20 miles south of Seattle). Part of this song was used in a commercial for a woman's shaver in the '90's.

I remember rocking to this one on the dance floor in 1970. It was great. One hit wonder as far as we in UK were concerned. Netherlands produced some great bands. What about Focus? Stunning talents.
Listening to this one now, the guitar riffs, and sound are pure 60s. The late 60s were a great time for music.
Thanks for doing this, none of the covers come close to its growl and energy.

Take all this with a grain of salt because just my thoughts over many years. I only remember this song so always thought they were a one hit wonder, if there were other songs I do not think they were anywhere near as popular. I think they were swedish or at least she is and I heard that she did not even speak english and they had to teach her these words.
