😆 🤣, Love it that you mentioned The Residents. Those guys are not in left field, they’re way beyond it. But they’re highly amusing. An old friend turned me on to them back in the ‘ 90s. Glad he did ! And I’m looking forward to your Porcupine Tree ranking, as well as Hawkwind. Thanks for the heads up !!

There's a ton of bands on the prog fringes worthy of discussion in order to bring them to the attention of a wider audience. This Sunday's featured band XTC are a great example. Perhaps a future livestream could be a general discussion on other bands on the fringes of prog? 10cc, Supertramp, Radiohead, Talk Talk, Cardiacs, Tears For Fears etc Are they pop, are they art rock, are they prog? Does it really matter? They all have prog elements to their music

I get why Leprous is a bit out of your normal sphere (their first couple albums I haven't really gotten into yet either), but their last three albums are fantastic and really not all that unapproachable to people less inclined with the heavier side of metal. Aphelion in particular is a masterpiece in my opinion - I named Running Low back a few weeks ago when you were doing best opening tracks, Below would also have worked but the first minute and a half or so of Running Low just gives me goosebumps every time. Einar is a fantastic singer, I also really liked his solo album from last year, even if it's not as much prog or metal as any of the stuff he's done with Leprous.

Hi Scot!! You certainly are right when you said you put here on the channel the bands/artists you like and not all the stuff we guys suggest!!! I was afraid I was among the members who tried to impose my personal tastes but I never intended that nor could I because as I always said you rule man!!!!! And you reinforced with "That's phony and I don't do that here!". I am so glad you mentioned The Enid, Brand X in the top 10, and some other bands I will try to hear although I know a little about Birth Control and of course Aphrodite's Child!! I'll try to listen to Cardiacs and Wigwam. Finally, I'm so pleased you will do rankings from bands I love like Manfred Mann's Earth Band (The album you chose on the video is my favorite), Strawbs, Barclay James Harvest and also Nektar, Mike Oldfield, Riverside (although I know only a few songs) Porcupine Tree, Caravan, Soft Machine and Hawkwind (who can forget Lemmy??!!). You did it again Scot, great show, see you!! Greetings from sunny Portugal!!!! PS: Procol Harum is a band hardly mentioned here but like you said "don't need suggestions, they are all in my head!!" PS2 Incredible String Band what a great band, folk, psychedelic rock, and not easy to listen (like the fantastic Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span).

I love Family! Their Music in a Doll's House concept album is one of the greatest debuts and Family Entertainment and Bandstand are just as good. Maybe it's Roger Chapman's rasping vocals that put people off, in the way some can't listen to the great Peter Hammill either? Barry from Classic Album channel named him as someone he can't listen to, for instance. His loss. I appreciate Roger's voice and the artistry of Family. Great band live I'm told, too.

I remember watching an older all prog series by Pete Pardo, and que didn't mention Caravan. I obviously questioned him, and he responded saying he only owned a 2-CD compilation (actually I also own it, and it was my gateway drug to this band (not to mention the Canterbury scene)). A few years later he was gifted with the Decca/Deram 9-CD anthology which contains all of their CD's except for the debut album. Being the completist he is, he purchased it, corrected the path and already has done a ranking the albums show and a Prog Seat Canterbury show.

We have different borders. For me, it's jazz. I have no problem with most metal. I've been digging Soft Machine 4 of late, so... woops! there goes the jazz line. Maybe I'll get around to Brand X someday.

    Someone mentioned Uriah Heep...
I saw them last Monday supporting Judas Priest in Glasgow. They're a band I'd wanted to see forever, but on the night they had major technical problems and had to play a truncated set of only 4 songs. Nevertheless, they were fantastic - real pros, great songs and so much talent there. Arguably deserved to be much bigger in their day than they were, but were inevitably overshadowed by Purple, Sabbath and Zeppelin at the time.
