- Guanimes con bacalao is a stew eaten throughout Puerto Rico that combines the brininess of salt cod with the fruitiness of peppers in a lusciously rich sauce. Our version is based on the one at Casa Vieja in Ciales, Puerto Rico.

Thank you for highlighting Puerto Rico’s cuisine. It is an extremely humble dish in our culture that is delicious and easy to prepare. ❤🇵🇷❤
Awesome bacalao guisado recipe. The bacalao can be paired up with white rice too. ❤❤❤
Ms Toni needs to be in every episode. (you too, Bryan:)
Well done.
Thank you for teaching is this dish from Puerto Rico! I learned something new. In many other Caribbean countries we also cook saltfish-salted cod- my mother would stew it in a sauce and cook it with dumplings but flour ones as well as other vegetables and plantain.
❤yum!
Bacalao ❤
In Eastern Coast of Venezuela the do almost the same type of dish (without guanimes) using ray meat or cazón (little shark species) they can be salty which needs the 24h soak or fresh. In the western coast they add coconut milk and it renders a totally different dish. And the flavor of the “ají dulce” doesn’t have any resemblance to any other pepper I’ve tried.
That looks incredible. I love salt cod from Italian, Brazilian and Portuguese recipes and versions. This just adds another great option that I could live off of.
LOVE FROM PUNE INDIA🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 🥰❤👍😎😉🧡🙂😍🤝😊❤🥰❤🥰
I love the guinimes con bacalao. Great that you share a receipe.
I love that recipe, it is a great explanation of how to do it.
I want some🤤
Toni is me at a party trying to have a conversation
Is she actually even trying though.
From my experience as a former media person, it takes time to loosen up and be more spontaneous in front of a camera or microphone. These days we judge quickly and harshly, expecting media personalities to emerge fully formed. Ms. Toni does well on her own segments.
How fishy tasting is it?
Bacalao/salt cod has a distinctive smell and taste when cooked, but I wouldn't ever classify the smell/taste as "fishy".
Nothing personal against Toni, but she doesn't really add a whole lot when she participates in actual cooking segments
I like everyone on ATK but feel that way on all the cooking segments. One presenter is enough. The chit-chat is forced and cheesy.
Hmmm... i agree... shallow and pedantic
Toni is not a favorite with her comments or in this case lack there of.
the entire time I was wondering why the random lady was there 😭😭 I don't mind her I'm just confused
@@Al-isthatyouwhat chitchat lmao the only full word she said was "yeah"
Wish those ingredients were available locally. There is no salt cod in our region.
By mail. You can get anything!
Amazon sells it.
I buy mine at my grocery store ( ShopRite)
@@MariaRodriguez-hu3xp I don't know about you lovely folks ... but we can't afford $90 for a piece of fish. Just the 2 of us on a fixed income.
@@digging4roots For what it's worth, the recipe calls for 1 lb salt cod, and Amazon sells a 1 lb pack for $19.99. (The other listings I see are for multiple pounds, similar per pound cost.)
I prefer my Guanime con manga personally
😏
Salt cod is a very international ingredient because sailors took it everywhere on ships on long intercontinental voyages.
Im Puerto Rican. It's ajisitos!!!
I am going to create a cookbook soon
Bryan IS A GOD!!
Excelente 🎉

Can someone please tell me why this woman is standing there like a lump? She adds NOTHING to the program, nothing!
Sounds awful.
You need to try it and then you will say. It’s delicious.
