Love this...
I had so many MAD paperbacks, started by Buying, Burning MAD in a street market in Teignmouth in Devon, back in 1984...
Probably went to that one myself in the 80's. These are still around of course but easier to find online.
Jules, brings back a lot of memories, great video!
Thanks Gary, they are part of my childhood for sure🙂
Had a good collection myself Jules and always good for a laugh, and could think of no one but yourself to reminisce better about such a happy memory
Thanks John 🙂 definitely a part of my childhood and still great today.
Great video Jules 😀👍
Thanks Paul, I love these!🙂
I had abot 20 of those before my house fire. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thankfully, easy to replace through eBay.👍
That is a wonderful collection!! I have a small chunk of what you have in your collection..
Well, I don't even have a quarter of them all but I love what I've got🙂
Love seeing the UK editions.....thank you for the putting it together. I kept all my Spy Vs. Spy, Aragones, and Don Martin ones....and I still have my collection of the magazines too. Should have collected more Marvel comics, as they proved to be better investment...but hey, I always liked Mad a LOT more....
Excellent stuff! Sergio's books are my favourite ones but I love them all to be honest👍
@@JulesBurt I agree...I have several. I met him at a comic book show once - really a nice, and classy gentleman! One of the most interesting books I EVER read was "The Mad World of William M. Gaines" (or something like that) ..absolutely fascinating. Gaines really was a genius.
Ah yes, the Gaines book is superb, he was well ahead of his time. I have never met Sergio but I do have a great sketch by him, of Groo. 🙂👍
Nice Collection. I have some original art for a few paperbacks. A chapter of a Jaffee invention book, the first page of Sergio's first book and a prelim cover by Dave Berg.
That's awesome, my favourite artist is Sergio Aragonis. I have a sketch of his of Groo the wanderer. Original art is awesome to own.
@@JulesBurt Yeah Sergio is great. I have one original marginal it is pretty cool.
That's cool, something to treasure, that's for sure🙂👍
Just the punny covers is a riot . Mad made fun and parodied many things from movies to .......Great vid Mr j
Thanks Anthony, I certainly love these 🙂
Watching Jules always triggers several minutes of me thinking that I had one of those and what the heck did I do with it.
Ha! Sorry about that buddy🙂
Curious fact: Son of MAD's book appears in the Beatles movie "A Hard Day's Night". Good video.
I never knew that but next time I watch, I'll take a look🙂
Great Collection!
Thanks 🙂
The early Mad paperbacks had astonishing illustrators, never equalled, viz. : peerless Basil Wolverton, amazing Bill Elder, fantastic Walt Wood and superb Jack Davis....these guys are lost in time, more's the pity...but not to me. The 6 books I have are from the mid-Fifties, i.e. Son of Mad, The Bedside Mad, Mad Strikes back!, Utterly Mad, Inside Mad and the Mad Reader...all illustrated by the above...a must-have collection!
Absolutely, the early books are my particular favourites 🙂👍
I agree....as I am an EC fan too. All those guys were the greatest. Nothing like the way Wally Wood drew a female....whoa!
You are correct...you can get them for about $3 or so apiece...usually at a flea market....so yeah...they are still pretty affordable. VERY enjoyable vid....
Thanks so much, just must out on another collection recently..... next time 🙂👍
These are hilarious they are great
Absolutely 🙂
I had all these and they were skipped when my parents moved house . Agggggggggggggh
Nightmare John😄 Luckily, not to expensive to collect a few today, especially in job lots👍
