    I don’t know how it took me this long to find this video. I have a Christensen MPR in 6.5 PRC. I walked it out like this for my first time ever shooting 1,000 yards. Absolutely love this thing, I’ve taken a white tail at 500yds and an Aoudad at 650yds, neither one took more than a few steps. Great video, loved it

    The first thing I noticed with this video and your previous reloading video is the bipod and preloading the bipod. I bet if you had this set up while doing load development your groups would have been tight. Great shooting out to a mile man! Glad I just found your channel.

      This rifle was very problematic. Too damn light. But, I have a new rifle in 6.5 PRC and it is much heavier and there is almost no muzzle jump at all. But you are correct about loading the bipod.

      @@mattsreloadingbench Janesville here. What part of Wisconsin are you in? I can shoot out to 500 meters at the Beloit Rifle Club, that is the best that is available to me at the moment. I plan on going to Texas or Michigan for one of those long range hunting courses this year. Nice video.

    • @mattsreloadingbench
      @mattsreloadingbench  2 года назад +1

      Ed Srettin, I live by Lake Michigan. Sorry, I'm not going to get specific. But I do almost all of my shooting at the rifle range in Shiocton. They have targets out to 550 yds and gongs at 567 yds.
      I would love to get into competitive shooting, but with my job and the fact that there is no locations within 8 hours for a mile shoot, it is not going to happen any time soon.

    Great shooting! Do you have any problems with the base of the 6.5PRC case's after about 6 reloads? Would have been great if you would have been posting elevation MOA on the screen with each shot for comparison...look forward to see what's next camera on target maybe

    • @mattsreloadingbench
      @mattsreloadingbench  2 года назад +1

      So far, I have not gotten to 6 reloads on my brass. I would have loved to have a camera on the target. A few days after I shot at that range, the range master installed one that you can connect a wifi device to to get your shots on target in real time. The MOA was an afterthought. Maybe if I have time, I can redo the video and add that in.

      SAAMI I believe at the case web is .532 Many smiths are now using custom reamers which are plus .002 at the web. This solves the sizing issue and the well known “bolt click” problem.

      Thank you for the compliment. I had a blast at this range and i am beyond thrilled that everything worked out as well as it did! For ballistics calculations, I use a combination of a Kestrel and the Hornady 4DOF Calculator. I like the combo that I use and as you can see, it works for me.

    Hey man awasome job. I recently build a precision 6.5 prc and haven't got to take it out further than 500 yards and was curious how big of groups you are getting at 100 yards. Also what recipe are you loading them to I am not having the best luck I'm getting about .5 moa groups at 100 and feel that it should be a bit better. There are a few things I'm not doing yet with my reloads such as turning the necks and I need to debur the flash holes but other than that I think I'm doing everything decent enough.

      I was able to get just under 1 MOA. But, when I went from Wisconsin to Texas, everything changed. The round performed better in the Texas atmosphere and I was getting about .75 MOA while there. I will be doing some more development with my 6.5 PRC.
      I hit the mile. Which was my ultimate goal. But, I want to see if I get bring down my group sizes and see if I can achieve sub 1/2 MOA.
      Have fun in chasing your goals!
